  1. I agree! (I actually built this before the whole story of Alberto started. But then I thought that such a thing would not just appear and be created out of nowhere.) Thanks - it might be time for a different chapter now as I've been bothering people for quite a while now with the "Golden Age of Ballooning" It's time to name the monkey: he is George da Pontelli, inventor and bon vivant. Ha! I've been waiting for someone to spot this and comment on it. Thanks a lot! I thought it was hilariously funny to have an inventor who only uses such a blunt instrument as a hammer (you cannot do much with it and desctructive purposes are close at hand). Therefore I have outfitted Alberto with that hammer in (almost) every scene. Quite right! Yepp, you may want to try for yourself. Tolkien and Peter Jackson have told us that Giant Eagles are a solution to everything! The background was even nicer in real life than on the pictures. But I got into trouble because of the reflections. The lighting became difficult, especially as I wanted to shoot the pictures from a low position. I haven't really worked that out yet.
  2. Dear Mr Hawksbrugh, your pigeon has reached me and I would like to thank you for your kind words and sympathy. Pray, can you send me one of those phantastic storage flasks? It would be much appreciated. Warm regards Alberto da Pontelli Thanks. In truth I fear that the monkey is the real brain behind all of these experiments - that is why he was able to escape in time!
  3. Excellent ship... is it modular?
  4. Shiver me timbers, this is fantastic. Excellent ship you have there, sir! Great that you have shared so many details with us (but I am still afraid of custom rigging...)
  5. Here is the big question (and a possible answer to it) how to steer a Balloon/Phlogisphere/Ballhover - presented as a photo-comic: (Hawksbrooke is meant to spell Hawksbrugh but the painter did not know that) Prithee, here is a fine picture of the new Eslandolean Ballhover: I hope you find this enjoyable - C&C welcome!
  6. Alberto points to his presentation and answers the question. (Something about the fiery power inside the phlogiston...) Alberto hurries off to catch the next ship to Elysabethtown...
  7. Well, that was just a joking reference to the famous "Golden Age of Chicken Aviation" series... The chicken was not meant to be a part of the stories around Alberto da Pontelli.
  8. "Phlogiston" is actually what early scientists thought would be created during combustion. That was before they worked out the aspects of atoms and molecules, etc. The spiral staircase is a troublesome thing, usually it does not fit in anywhere
  9. Very nice, very good - I like the miniature cars!
  10. Fine hot rod! And with guitar and machine gun ready at hand - what can go wrong?
  11. Thanks - it was good that Alberto has been wearing that helmet thing all the time .. not a bottle broken: Well, I did not have those custom pieces and I do not know how to produce acceptable shards (right word?). I was also surprised that the black & trans orange combination works out so well. We need the monkey for future inventions!
  12. Fine builds and fine story. Good luck for Alejandro!
  13. Welcome to the Brethren of the Brick Seas, fellow captain!
  14. Everybody said it would happen, everybody feared it would happen: A great explosion has devastated the laboratory of Alberto Antonio da Pontelli. The monkey had escaped just in time after giving a cry of warning. Luckily Alberto was not seriously injured. .. but heartbroken ... The phlogiston experiments had turned out to be much more dangerous than initially expected. Alberto would need to send out a warning to the fellows of the Royal Academy. C&C welcome! (Also on flickr)
  15. Welcome to Eurobricks!
  16. Welcome to Eurobricks!
  17. Excellent build and fantastic photography!
  18. On May 5th 616 Alberto da Pontelli visited the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy to present his findings on phlogiston and the hovering balls of cotton: A painting had also been made after the presentation.
  19. On May 5th 616 Alberto da Pontelli was received by the Royal Society of Natural Philosophers to demonstrate his experimental results. A painting was made on the event:
  20. Incredible! Welcome to Eurobricks!
  21. To Mr. Hawksbrugh Dated this 4th day of May in the 616th year After Empire (the post boat has been delivering quite fast) My Dear Friend, I can assure that no cats (and no monkeys) were hurt during my experiments. What you tell me about Mr. Lupus is fascinating news indeed. I am surprised to hear that their machinery was able to reach the sea. So far, my Ballhover has just been hovering (until all of the Oleon wine had been burnt. Then the Ballhover landed.) Why would somebody call this a "Phlogisphere"? 'tis such a modern word. Prithee, may I urge you to kindly go through the extra trouble of adhering to the term "Ballhover"? Ballhover or not ballhover, that is the question. 'tis not nobler in the mind to drag a different term into existence. In any case - good luck for your work! Best wishes and warm regards to Lady Norrington and Mr. Janszen Alberto da Pontelli
  22. I almost missed this thread in the number of MOCs posted every day. And I like the "Phlogisphere" (although it should be called "Ballhover"). (Hundsbottom ) Thanks for mentioning, Mr. Hawksbrugh.
