  1. I have to agree with Dr. Cogg. I wasn't digging what our troll was saying, so we are back to having the world of possibilities again. Without being too stoked about this theme, I am hoping it's more steampunk than space/future/chima. I personally favor minifig heads that have beards. My concern is that with this theme trending younger, that the main characters will be young, ala Ninjago. Also with Ninjago, all the main characters' heads were pretty boring. I would feel pretty confident saying that the characters will be teens or young adults like they are in that. Another question to my fellow Eurobrickers: Does having Mark Stafford on make this line potentially more or less promising?
  2. I'd love to hear some non-licensed ideas. That seems like all lego does now. Anyways, I'd like to see a historic theme with Romans or based on Greek mythology. I think that would be great!
  3. I have to disagree here, and this has no bearing on my opinion-good or bad- of this build. I don't think he has to avoid his depiction on a public forum here at Eurobricks. It is clear that this is an adult site and that there may be mature builds. Under 18 year olds shouldn't be here. It can fit in a Lego forum if one believes that Lego can be art. Whether or not one finds this to be art is a different story. Finally, I also wouldn't avoid sensitive topics because someone out there might be uncomfortable. Anything anyone makes has that potential and I'm not going to tell this guy that he's been censored. It's up to the poster to exercise taste and judgement, but based on the rules, he certainly can post this.
  4. Halfling/Hobbit Gender: Male Torso print: Orange or Tan vest with cream/tan arms. Belt on the bottom Headgear: Windswept or parted hair Facial expression: Happy on the front. Determined on the back. Possibly beard print Legs: Green pants, yellow feet. Accessory: Torch with flame, small sword, cape. Undead warrior Gender: Male Torso print: Mix of bandages and tattered armor Headgear: Helmet Facial expression: Bandaged face with growling mouth and bright yellow eyes Legs: Bandages and tattered armor Accessory: Flail and shield Avatar Inspired Figure Gender: Male or Female Torso print: Blue torso underneath forest clothing Headgear: Long black hair with blue elf ears Facial expression: Neutral expression Legs: Minimal clothing with blue legs Accessory: Dagger and or carrot These descriptions of course are based off Alexandre Boudon's drawings which are amazing. Lego, take notice, you've already made at least half a dozen based off his designs, go back to that well.
  5. I think that it's undeniable the quality of the build itself- from the tree, to the base, and the crops- but I have to agree with notaromantic. This is quite a literal take on the source material. What are you adding to the piece or to the subject? Does your piece show a viewpoint or have an opinion? To me, without the narrative, it's just a lynching in lego. Now, this is not to be accusatory, so I preface this because we're only reading my text. That being said, what were your motivations for your creation? What draws you to this poem? To me, this poem for lack of a better term, sensationalizes lynching. I suppose you could say it's matter of fact at best, but something about this is off-putting. It might be the hanging and burned black men.
  6. I think, as stated above, a Harry Potter classroom set would have been unbelievable. Think about one set in a potions class! Snape and some other house torso's. How about the gardening class or Hagrid's class. Good God, that would have been reaaaaally cool. They could have made it small with minimal bricks for like $20, or a couple more figs and bricks for like $40. What more can be said that hasn't been said about how they grossly swung and missed on LOTR wave two and no wave three. Read the 150+ pages about it ;P.
  7. Love it. Were you inspired by The Others by chance? Either way, really great figs in a compact vig. I especially like the flag-bearer.
  8. Wow, that is a fantastic synopsis and characterization of his, and DC's, builds. I was wondering the same thing, but what you said is a great jumping off point.
  9. Like others, I love the Totorro, are there other angles of this? How did you do the ears and nose? Nice work. Also, your Appa in your photostream is excellent.
  10. Are turtles dinosaurs? It might be cool if the indominous rex had a turtle shell AND wings right? Just kidding. Will the white ind rex be very useful being white? It's a sweet fig and all, but for repurposing? Who knows. I hope this movie is as awesome as the trailer.
  11. Thanks for the review and great pics. This looks like a great set which I will now be picking up. Ultran is really cool and who can't use a 14th Iron Man?
  12. There are a bunch of interesting figs, obviously, and many that I don't like others do. I'll make my picks with a mix of my dislikes with sorta consensus dislikes. Series 1: Demo dummy Series 2: Weightlifter and Cop. How many cops do we need??!!!! There are so many $%#$%#@$@ cops made it's unfathomable to me. And the kicker is, if I don't feel the bags, I always get them >:( Series 3: Snowboarder and stereotype tribal chief Series 4: Hockey player.. poorly done. Also, what's the beef with the soccer player? Series 5: Zookeeper. I don't think it could be more bland. Series 6: Classic alien Series 7: Nothing horrible in this series Series 8: Skier, Cheerleader, Fairy. Another skier? These are uninspired Series 9: Cop AGAIN! Series 10: SKYDIVER! Useless. and paintballer Series 11: Cop AGAIN! Series 12: Prospector Series 13: Lady Cyclops! There you have it. Please Lego, can we have a couple more cop variants?
  13. I really like this and, let me say its great to see a harry potter moc again. The floor us what struck me first. Its really natural and beautiful.
  14. This is really impressive! I can't believe it even fits a minifigs, much less two! Really cool build.
  15. Really fun series and I especially like all the chrome. I don't recognize the torso for your granny. What is that from?
  16. It would be sooo cool if they made an original theme in the vein of what Boudin sketched. Their own version of Scooby Do. Ive always been a fan of his concepts and a line based on his designs could go far!
  17. I really enjoyed this build. It's cool how you have your miniland scale and minifig scale of the same subject. Why have you taken such an interest in the bateau?
  18. Well, I hope you are being tongue in cheek. Lego does not conform to historical and real world realities. They go for what is fun, what will sell, what is recognizable, etc. I don't really think they care if their toy is violating the toy dress code seeing as it is a toy. All that being said, I would guess that the toy will look more like what you have pictured, but a hot dog suit would be so much fun!
  19. Really cool. Underappreciated movie and creative build.
  20. That king is AWESOME! Any idea what the fig is next to the unicorn? I was worried about the sheriff seeing as I don't fondle the bags and always get tons of cops, but he is pretty cool. Looks pretty strong and better than 12 IMO. If the goblin is like boudin's render then that's icing on the cake.
  21. Well...What's to say. I think the bandanas are cool. I mean, if anyone ends up not liking them after getting them in your hands, there are thousands of the classics for cheap on bricklink! Why not embrace the new ones? What I do take issue with, as few have said, is the lack of new face prints. What's the deal? C'mon Lego, put some effort in. Finally, I really like the green-torso'd pirate. But the rehashing of old torso prints miffs me a little. Many on these boards seem to like them but I feel like if I wanted the old torsos, which I already have, I'd 'link them. I hope there's some new prints in the final set. Overall....meh.
  22. Question: I'm asking this with no sarcasm or snark intended but why do people care about the color of the bags/box? I notice whitefang dedicates a paragraph to it in each series review and for me I it doesn't matter whatsoever. Enlighten me?
  23. Yes and no. There is a difference between over the top wants/expectations and what we are seeing here. These prelims look like they weren't even trying. I mean really not trying. They honestly look like the pics from kids in lego club mag.
  24. Omg. You have to look in the embassy forum thread for the topic titled (I think) "what figs are we missing?" SO many of the suggestions have come to fruition in the CMF line. I just looked at the first page and it looked like the designers lifted the ideas directly from there! Pretty cool in retrospect.
  25. For better or worse, I think you may be right, or close. At times, we as AFOLs, can lose site of the fact that TLG is a business first and foremost. What you describe is a pretty sound business strategy. Until they believe that the kids in that demo's taste has changed, then we may get pretty similar sets. Hopefully that doesn't stop them from producing worthwhile interesting sets!
