  1. I was going to sit out superheroes month to focus on my modular buildings. However, after your amazing complement in the ninja avatar voting thread ( thank you!!), I was inspired to at least have a go at an avatar. I hope to photograph and upload it on the weekend. When are you going to reveal what the werewolf is up to?
  2. Love the geisha one. Thanks, Oky, for the laughs.
  3. Another great little chapter. I like the "princess-detection-machine"! The bed is awesome, and would make a great bunk bed. Do you mind if this turns up in one of my MOCs one day (with the appropriate credit, of course)?
  4. Thanks, everyone, for all the great comments. Thanks, SwissBrick. Brisbane is not an old city compared to most of the European cities, but it does have a quite a number of beautiful Classic Revival style buildings (harton, please correct me if I quoted the wrong architectural style). The building this was based on was the former Queensland National Bank built in 1885. Haven't considered putting it on CUSOO. I must admit I am a little disillusioned with CUSOO at the moment, given how long it has been since the Western Town (and the others) went into review. That's the problem, I don't know what to expect at the back of a psychiatrist's office! In Brisbane, the few alleyways we have tend to just have dumpsters, milk crates (from all the coffee shops) and mopeds, motorcycles and cars.
  5. Thanks everyone! Thanks, LegoDr. Its interesting to see the range of comments about the colour of the front. I did experiment with some colour, but kept coming back to the all grey. It just seemed more realistic. The sign and the flowers came at the end because I thought it definitely needed some colour, just not in the facade. On the open plan office, I ran out of sand green and would have had to start taking bricks from the modified haunted house. Not quite ready to start tearing that one down just yet. We can pretend that the doctor makes so much money from this one tennis player that he doesn't need any other patients! Wow, this means a lot to me! Thank you for your comments and your great description. When I first came across Brick Town Talk after coming out of my dark ages, I went back to the first post and went through all of them. It has been a huge source of inspiration for me. I am honoured that one of my MOCs has made it amongst all those amazing modulars. I like this idea! Had to google "soffit". New word for the vocabulary. Also a good idea. Seems so obvious now that it has been pointed out, but I didn't even think of it when I was working on the back. Another idea I've had since is that I could have parked the secretary's bicycle at the back.
  6. Welcome to Eurobricks!
  7. Thanks, everyone! I really appreciate the comments. The tan one has been broken up as I needed the roof pieces and tiles for the modified haunted house. However, I have its twin sitting here as a wip. I had two on the go when the Modular Madness contest was announced - the dark green / tan one that I eventually entered and a sand blue / white slightly different version. I didn't finish the blue one because I didn't have enough pieces at that time. I am hoping to finish the sand blue one over the next week or two. I have recently brought more roof pieces, and should I have enough parts to at least build the front of the tan townhouse. We'll have to see ... stay tuned. They are these 1x2x5 modified bricks in light bluish grey, which are readily available on Bricklink. It looks like these and the 1x2 version will be available in dark bluish grey when Arkham Asylum comes out. Can't wait for those! Very true - it wouldn't feel right without stairs. I just wish they didn't take up so much room! I definitely had McEnroe in mind when picking the minifigure for this scene. I imagine the psychiatrist would be able to get by with the fees just from this one client!
  8. Here are my votes (working on the assumption it's per category). 8x8: 1. Kai NRG - 1 point 2. Praiter Yed - 1 point 3. dr_spock - 1 point 16x16: 1. Aanchir - 1 point 3. Kai NRG - 1 point 7. Praiter Yed - 1 point
  9. B-OM-34B I had this facade sitting on on the table as a WIP for a couple of months. It was based on a bank in Brisbane, but I couldn't figure out how to make it fit a 32-wide baseplate. It didn't do the bank building justice as a 16-wide, so I decided it was going to be professional offices of some sort, and eventually came up with the idea to fit it out as a psychiatrist's office. I was stuck for ideas on how to do the back. I wanted to make a garden, but that would have looked out of place. I ended up filling the empty space with my first attempt at a "Mark of Falworth" tree (thank you for the tutorials!). I think I need a lot more practice. Ideas for what should go at the back of a non-residential building are welcome! A look at the reception on the ground floor: And the office on the first floor: More photos on flickr. Comments and suggestions welcome.
  10. I am so jealous right now. When, oh when, is LEGO going to open a store in Australia?

  13. Kai NRG - 1 point dr_spock - 1 point harton - 1 point There were so many great ninja-fied avatars. I wish I had a few more points to hand out!
  14. Superman: (in a thought bubble) "If I squint, I can see my reflection. Looking good."
  15. This is beautiful. Love the roof and how the building is built into the rocks.
  16. This is a great little library. I particularly like how you have done the base. The minifgures do seem from a different era though! On a side note, I think your building and presentation skills have really evolved in the short time that I have been on Eurobricks. Each MOC just gets better and better.
  17. You should definitely be pleased with this. It is stunning! I love the wood panelling and how the chimney and roofs flow seamlessly.
  18. I agree this is a magnificent mosaic. However, it has been on flickr for at least two years, so it isn't a new MOC.
  19. I'd go art deco or late 19th century, as the pubs always tend to be the older buildings in a town.
  20. This is beautiful! I love the colour scheme and how you have done the lower windows, they are framed really nicely. Great interior, too. I like the idea of having the open back. It lends itself nicely to taking much better shots of the building, and you can get two buildings for the same number of bricks.
  21. How cute are these? You have my vote!
  22. Excellent work on the new levels. I like the progressive accumulation of mugs and the transformation of the skin tone over the levels is very clever. You can feel him descending into chaos.
  23. Brilliant. I particularly liked how you did the turning point, where you stopped the elevator music. I am always amazed how much emotion and feeling can be packed into these brick flicks.
  24. I commented on it on flickr, but just wanted to re-iterate what a stunning building this is. I am in awe of the amazing details you've managed to include in a building of this scale.
