I bought a few packages of these at http://www.knikkerba...-dlg-p-148.html They are a little smaller than official LEGO balls (14 vs 14,2 mm) and a little lighter as well (1,4 vs 1,6 gram). The good part is that they are a lot cheaper: I paid 6 euro for 100 balls! I tested them in my replica of 'Lift Triggered by a Stuck Ball' and they perform quite well! Conclusion: these balls (marbles) can safely be used as cheap alternatives for the expensive LEGO balls. Some GBC's (like Spiral Lift) may need some small adjustments caused by the balls being just a little smaller...

For me it was a real honor and pleasure to work with Lucio Switch! I started the build around Christmas and finished it last week. My estimate is that the build will take somewhere between 20 and 40 hours. There are 15 (!) booklets and each booklet takes around 2 hours to finish. With a model that contains over 7000 (!) parts you have to face some new challenges! Like how to fit the parts + the model + the laptop on the same table! I encourage everybody to take the challenge as I did! I think the easiest way is to create a Private MOC in Rebrickable and import the Brickstore file. Then Rebrickable will show you how many percent you have already and all the same nice features as with public MOCs.

I was one of the beta testers but don't consider myself as a 'dummy' The goal I was given was to check if the BI were easy to follow, not to comment on the design or the functionality. Nevertheless I pointed out some concerns like the selection motor coming loose. In the end TeClement decided to publish the instructions as they are right now.

My experience with building such large MOCs is that you should try to start with a set for most of the parts. Rebrickable can help you find a set that covers most of the parts. Prices of loose parts on BL are on average double the price of parts in sets. When I have most of the parts collected using sets I look for the cheapest combination for the rest on BL using Brickficiency: http://www.buildingoutloud.com/brickficiency.php Saves you a lot of time and comes up with the best possibilities given you constraints (# of shops, location, condition (new/used).

I did some calculations on this idea. The smallest and the cutest! ;-) Just curious: are you also correcting the color scheme back to Akiyuki's version? I think that Rebrickers version on Rebrickable is not correct at all points, e.g. the use of yellow and also the DBG bricks http://rebrickable.com/mocs/therebricker/akiyukis-lifter-triggered-by-a-stuck-ball Do you happen to have a partslist already or do I have to be a little more patient?

What about a kickstarter project that produces the perfect replicas? There should be a company in China that can make these balls according to specs? If they can reverse engineer computers overthere they can certainly reverse engineer some plastic balls... ;)

Hi Blakbird, Great initiative, dreams come true! If I can be of any help (testing?) please let me know. I collected all parts for GBF and about to start building it. But I may be willing to postpone it to build other modules first. Do you have a partslist of tilted rotors? May be I could build that one first? May I suggest to add YouTube links to your index in the first post? Then anybody knows what we are talking about! Keep up with the good work!

Although I find the model not that particular appealing cosmetically the number of (electronic) parts is challenging! I will put it on my to-build list, but not at the top. First I have to finish Lucio's Tractor Truck (and his Fire Engine?) and Sheo's Terex. The 'problem' with my to-build list is that sometimes new projects land on top, preventing the projects that are lower on the list of ever being started

Over the past weeks I have been building The Mistess in white. In this mini-review I will let you know my findings. As soon as Jeroen presented his newest model “The Mistress” on EB I decided that I wanted to build this model as well since I liked the overall presence very well. So I was enlightened when I heard that Building Instructions were in the making. The only thing I had to decide was in what color to build it… Since my space is limited (and I only have 16 supercar wheels…) I can have a maximum of four supercars built up at the same time: one in red (Jurgens Koenigsegg at the moment), one in black (Crowkillers Vampire at the moment), one in white (Nathanaels Predator at the moment) and one in yellow (Jurgens Sunbeam at the moment). So I had to decide which one to sacrifice for the new build. Both red and white cars offered around 1000 of the 1600 necessary parts for the Mistress. In the end I choose to build it in white since both the Predator and the Mistress use the new driving rings and they both use a lot of those 5x7 frames. The build was very pleasant and enjoyable. I stretched it over two weeks with a maximum build time of 1 hour a day to enjoy the build as long as possible. I guess that the total build must have been around 10 hours. The instructions were very professionally made and very easy to follow. I only spotted one small mistake, pictured below: The trans-blue 1x4 tile as shown in the instructions obstructs the stick-shift in shifting gears. When I looked at the pictures that Jeroen provided I found out that the 1x4 tile and the two 1x1 rounded tiles had to be swapped in position. Until then I used the workaround to remove the 1x4 tile all together as can be seen on the detail picture below. So the model came together very easily. At some points I was pleasantly surprised by building techniques I hadn’t experienced before. Especially the way the bodywork is constructed is very ingenious. No less than 57 (!) panels are used to give this model its unique linings, the highest number I have seen in a recent supercar. Everything fits nicely together and the model doesn’t fall apart in pieces easily. The gearbox works fine (given the fix with the 1x4 tile) and the shock absorbers do their job nicely. All by all I am very happy with the decision to build this model.
