  1. Great review! I was unaware of the alt head printing and hair, so I'm now a bit more excited for the figure. Considering there is about $75 worth of SW Legos out that I could use, I'm probably going to go for this figure.
  2. It can't be helped. People are going to find ways to buy these before the street date regardless. It may not seem fair, but that's the nature of the toy collecting hobby. As it is, so far we've seen TRU, Target, and Fred Meyers with confirmed sightings at multiple stores each. This isn't the first time a street date has been broken and it certainly won't be the last. Oh, and I've also stopped calling her the Librarian and have started calling her Amy Farrah Fowler
  3. Brilliant!
  4. Love the water effect - amazing overall.
  5. Ran through almost four boxes, though two already were picked over. No Mr. Golds, though I'm not looking for him, so that's ok. Ended up with tons of Romans, Medusas, and Xenas...
  6. Some stores are very particular about street dates. The cases could either be street dated or it could just be that the pricing info isn't updated in their system yet and will not be until May 1st. Either way, I'm betting this becomes one of the longer running CMF series (so as to completely promote Mr. Gold), so I'm not too worried about completing mine (and extras).
  7. That's what I was afraid of. Thank you.
  8. This may have already been covered - does anyone know if the Iron Man polybag for next month's promo is a new figure? I can't be sure, but it doesn't look like it.
  9. That's a great mini collection - easily recognizable. Well done!
  10. Han might have been better if more of his face were shown. As it is, nothing about the figure really screams Star Wars to the passing, casual observer. Granted, I know a Star Wars promo figure is not really for the casual observer, it still would be better for me to have something instantly recognizable. Maybe that's just more based on my collecting habits lately.
  11. I would agree that there are very few worlds left to conquer, so to speak. At best I find myself making dioramas and combining elements rather than starting from scratch.
  12. Blazing Saddles Lego - I thought I'd never see that! Well done.
  13. That Desert Skiff is going to be a hot set once it goes. The new Fett and so much to link to makes it in demand.
  14. As mentioned, it may just be a phase. I've taken brakes from alot of collectibles over the years, not because I disliked them necessarily but because I was overloading on them or just being too influenced by other ways to collect. I agree if you take a break from it and have any kind of longing, then this probably isn't permenant.
  15. Being a polybag collector, I had to get one now and I'll probably get another one during double VIP pts later this month. Then I'll jump on the May 4th promo if it's any good and summer can be my spending break.
  16. Is it over $100, because I got mine in store for spending over $50 on Star Wars related purchases.
  17. Later this month during double VIP points I plan to stock up on army-builders.
  18. Bilbo is probably the most recognizable character from The Hobbit, so it makes perfect sesne.
  19. Well, hopefully they're easily replaceable if he's missing anything. It'd be a shame if it was a set with rare pieces.
  20. Battle of Hoth and Clones vs Droidekas (with the Republic Frigate polybag). Plus, I filled my last holiday PAB box.
  21. That's actually my point. If you're a vendor and buying these wholesale, you can easily get a box and possibly pull the gold chase. Then part out the rest in whole sets. If you're getting more than one box, your chances go up for chases and complete sets - which are always easier to unload. It's not actually that different in concept just in quantity.
  22. These are still getting restocked at TRUs around here (WA state) - I just picked up four more Forest Maidens. Bartells have dried up and/or gotten picked over to the point where it's not worth it. Still nothing at Target or Walmart and both have been out of CMF S8 for so long, I'm not surprised that some employees don't know what CMF are.
  23. I consider myself to be part of the target audience, as a huge HP fan. I'm not sure how the rest of the HP fandom feels about Lego, though. I still believe mainstream HP items will sell - the upcoming revised HP book covers due in Sept will surely sell, but other things like prop replicas seem to have slowed down.
  24. I disagree. I'm not positive about the Lego community, but one per x amount box chases are still collected heavily in other areas like trading and gaming cards. People still hunt these down. What will be interesting is to see if the secondary market price on the gold chase figure is high enough to cause secondary vendors to start cracking open case after case to get one and then flip. Again this is what happens in the trading/gaming card market and it's one of the reasons you can buy so many common MTG cards for pennies. If this goes the same way, you'll be looking at the cheapest prices on the secondary market for individual figures or complete sets. The only people this hurts are the die-hard, full on collectors. Now depending on how long this series lasts, I'm betting Lego will make more than 5K boxes when you include all markets and regions. With that in mind, this could easily end up being one per 2+ boxes. I wonder what the actual retail case size for CMF is? Are there 8-10 boxes per case? Seems like Fred Meyers usually gets in 4-5 boxes when a set first hits. This could all mean maybe one gold chase per retail case.
  25. This and BttF complete my '80s Lego line-up. At least in regards to what Lego is willing to make...
