  1. Wow, don't know how I missed this when it was first posted. This looks great. The details and overall design is very evil and chaotic which works very well. The colors also add a lot to the chaos impression, as well. Great MOC.
  2. If it helps, when I built Tydirium in December all the parts seemed to be the same shade and there did not appear to be any yellowing. I bought it and built it within a week.
  3. Han Solo Chewie OT Stormtrooper ARC Trooper 501st Clone Trooper Various prequel Jedi Yoda Darth Maul Count Dooku
  4. Most of the modulars that are really popping are older, like green grocer. As time goes by and people get savvy, the newer ones won't pop like that. Look at the Star Wars UCS MF - that thing goes for crazy amounts, while most UCS sets after that have not. Yes, there was a trend for old sets popping, but now it is not as much of a guarantee.
  5. Neither. Big box sets from the past couple years are not going to flip for that much. Lego boomed after 2014, and nearly all sets after that time period are not going to pop much after they retire. More people are in the game now than ever and that means more copies of sets on the aftermarket. The only Lego stuff really worth chasing after for profit are super exclusive stuff, like SDCC. This is so much like Star Wars action figures in the 90s where everyone was out hording material waiting for it to pop and it never did.
  6. I think 521 according to brickset, but many more due to the build-a-minifigure in stores, CMF, and other random/promo sets that I have added in to that. Probably close to 700, with those factors.
  7. So, I was just reading that this brick system merger is based on a rumor going around that Hasbro and Mattel themselves are merging. As in, the whole company and not just any brick system sub-genres. Not sure there's a whole lot to it, but major action figure sites are reporting it.
  8. That pic isn't even matching up the minifigure with the right Ghostbusters character. :P
  9. A ton of printing and two extra minifigures compared to the original Ecto-1 for $10 more, that's not a bad deal.
  10. The reality is "no". Granted, Hasbro has Star Wars, Marvel, and Transformers, while Mattel has DC and Ghostbusters in the action figure arena, they wouldn't really be able to move those to a brick format. And that's really where the threat would be. On their own, neither company has licenses that people care about as much as the licenses that Lego has and that's really the primary battle, as neither Kre-O or Mega Bloks really has their own IPs that people would care about. Plus, Hasbro and Mattel have been the big names battling in the toy aisle, why would they join forces now? And could they even come to an agreement on it all? I doubt it.
  11. Looks great. Very dilapidated and abandoned. It would fit in well with post-apocalyptic settings or video games. I especially like the green slime and overgrowth.
  12. Really well done. The Bolter clip is genius. Add a couple more skulls and make it red and it could be a Chaos Space Marine version.
  13. I'm not really believing it till pics. Sorry, an unknown source is an unknown source. This would be the first confirmed info on a Red Hulk, if true.
  14. I saw shortages in my area (Seattle) of SW TFA sets. Most other sets seemed to be in reasonable supply. I haven't seen the numbers, but I'm sure TFA merchandise was the best seller during the holiday season.
  15. I hate to say it, but I don't expect too many ROTS based battle packs. The time for that would have been 2014 when the 3-D version of the movie was planned for release and Lego made a lot of material to cover it. The focus going forward is really going to be the OT and TFA material, with solo SW movies sprinkled in. PT era really seems to be on the bottom of the list.
  16. I agree, small individual shops or even smaller chains may give you a discount on older sets. There's a store I hit every now and then that usually has previous year's sets at a slight mark up. It never hurts to ask.
  17. Wow! Thanks for the info Sir Gareth, Ultron, Aegis2000, and Lego-Freak. I only collected a few Indy sets and never ran across this gun and I collect Star Wars, but not Rebels so I never saw it there either. Funny to be collecting Lego since 2009 and not see such a useful part, like a realistic looking gun.
  18. Does anyone have any info on that gun Agent 13 is holding in the pic? I don't have a single set with that piece in it, but I've seen Lego guns like that, which I assumed were custom. Is Lego including a realistic looking weapon rather than a stud-blaster?
  19. With Star Wars you really can play the waiting game with main character minifigures. If you're patient, you'll get all the characters you're after and probably some dupes just from buying sets The falcon was a good buy because of the main characters included and there are some other good options this year, like the Carbon Freezing Chamber for Boba Fett and Han. The trick is to just keep a list going and try for sets with the most bang for your buck. Plan the year of purchasing strategically, since Lego has shown almost everything that's coming out this year.
  20. Great review and really nice pics. I would bother going after this if it had a sand weathered helmet, but as it is, it feels incomplete.
  21. Maybe they were fighting the budget of the set and had to pick and choose which minifigures got the most ideal printing. Given that Goblin was offered in the Juniors set, it kinda makes sense to have him stand out from that version in this set. Basically, making people buy the same figure twice, but giving them a good reason to.
  22. I think adding some depth to the head would help. Vader wears a round helmet and as the figure here has some bulk to the torso, it could use bulk to the helmet. I do like the use of brick types and the overall texture. It does have a very retro, knock-off look; which is not at all a bad thing. With a couple small tweaks, it can be a good representation of Vader.
  23. I've used a similar technique with large grey baseplates and bricks as platforms and it's worked very well. It helps accommodate different leg designs, capes, armor, etc. Your design also works well, though I wonder if it may be more expensive to use long plates over one baseplate.
  24. Excellent job - really great, classic crazy Sci-Fi look and great color choice!
  25. Wow, I'm kinda priced out on this wave. The cheapest set is really $70? What happened to the $20-40 price point? Are other theme's summer waves this spendy?
