  1. The case ratios have always been the same, with the exception of Mr Gold back in Series 10.
  2. Nice review - thank you posting it. If anything, the set does have some useful Technic pieces and Yoda. Probably still a pass unless there's absolutely nothing else going with Lego at the time I see it... which doesn't seem likely this year.
  3. I think making the center cylinder taller and the side ones smaller might look more accurate.
  4. I've seen a lot of micro builds of cities that would work well with smaller molded figures. You could do Godzilla and friends at maybe the same size as a Star Wars TaunTaun.
  5. I think you might be able to find the Ewok Village online, but probably not in stores. That's assuming whatever UCS replacement to the Death Star doesn't drop before then.
  6. I should have qualified my previous statement by adding that I'm an OT and PT fan all the way and would never want to see them totally drift away, but this comment parallels a lot of how I think about modern sets - what's the chance in this new era of Star Wars that I might see things again? The Falcon? Sure, that'll get made again and again. Jabba's Palace? You're right, that one is done for good.
  7. That's a great set for the minifigure selection. I found my copy on clearance at Target last year.
  8. Disney really needs to push its own new material to rope in the next generation of Star Wars fans. I think we'll even be seeing fewer and fewer OT sets, despite their popularity in past years, because it makes more sense for Disney to form a new foundation with TFA, Rebels, and any of their new canon formats like books, comic books, and video games.
  9. That's a pretty cool and inventive take on the speedster blur. Well done!
  10. I think it looks outstanding, though I might suggest a different color for the t-crotch and just printing the belt on the torso.
  11. I'd almost wait on getting any Marvel stuff right now unless you really want Carnage. The reason I say this is because there seems to be a lot of really good Civil War sets coming that will be more bang for your buck. For DC, Grodd Goes Bananas is a good start or maybe one of the Batman Vs Supes sets, like the small one that has both main characters.
  12. I see the Tusken definitely. I see an Orc (who looks complete except for headgear) from the fantasy series a few years back and a zombie driver (he's just missing his hat) from the Monster Fighters polybag. The rest is too hodgepodge for me to decipher.
  13. It doesn't work well enough because Finn has a black body suit under his jacket and Poe wore a lighter colored shirt under his jacket.
  14. Local Target also had some of the sets in stock. I was finally able to get Raptor a Rampage. I'm wondering if this is just a warehouse end of the year find from the distributor. Sometimes at the end of the year or the start of the next year, warehouses find old stock that was misplaced or buried and put it out. If these sets start appearing at other chains then I would think it could be a reprinting.
  15. I would imagine with the quantities of movies coming out for Marvel, DC, and Star Wars that shelf real estate is becoming shorter lived. All three IPs are ramping up for more and more movies and Lego could have a hard time strategizing how to keep up.
  16. The base looks amazing and the raised concept works really well. It's nice to see such a well designed and asymmetrical base. The brick technique on the tower is perfect and I'm interested in trying it. Thank you for posting such an awesome build!
  17. Good man. It'll be at least a year before it retires. Long enough after the movie reboot and if there's any news of additional movies, this set could stay out till those movies drop, too. I think there's still talk of a male cast Ghostbusters film and if the female cast one does well (or even if it doesn't) could guarantee a sequel.
  18. Wait, wait, wait... wha? Ok, so first go rent Ghostbusters. Actually, no, go buy Ghostbusters because you will love it and want to own it after seeing it. And Ghostbusters 2. Probably won't love that one as much, but still. If you've ever thought 80s era comedy was good, you need to see these movies. If you even remotely think Bill Murray is funny, you need to see these movies. As for the set, I definitely think there's tons of value. If you never intend on seeing Ghostbusters and don't care at all about it, you can always sell the minifigures for probably ridiculous amounts. I don't know off-hand, but I'd say all of them combined could knock off close to $100. Then you're getting a super great modular for way cheap. But, go watch the movies. I can't believe you've been around this long and have not already. Why are you still reading this post...?
  19. I agree that the UCS version will probably never be updated again, so Lego will probably make a smaller, financially manageable one for the movie. Plus, as the Boba Fett movie is a prequel or origins story of sorts, Fett will probably have different printing.
  20. Looks really good and shambly. The bridge and the cage are nice and the overall dark grey is very sinister looking.
  21. Which grocery chain? At that price, it's very worth it.
  22. Super detail on a Lego minifigure just looks out of place and awkward. I doubt this would look good regardless of the face sculpt.
  23. Here's hoping Disney hypes up the 40th anniversary as much as the 30th anniversary was hyped. Granted the market and hobby were in a different place then, but there seemed to be a lot of commemorative items and collectibles out there at the time. Rather than a new set, I'd like to see some kind of commemorative item. I know a minifigures set is out of the question, but something with maybe one minifigures from each movie or something that has alittle bit of every Star Wars in it. Could be a chance for a brick built lightsaber hilt or something like that.
  24. Looks really good and solid in both modes. Plus, he looks very poseable in robot mode. That's tough to pull off.
  25. Part of the reason is that they need to keep the exclusives exclusive. Almost all companies that release SDCC material and the like never release those same items again in any other form. It would be a slap in the face to all those people who stood in line or jumped through hopes to get those exclusives. It's better to avoid that bad PR. Part of the reason they release some of the stuff in its exclusive form later also has to do with the various license holders. There's lots of information here and elsewhere regarding Lego avoiding release individual minifigures so that they don't run into issues with other companies action figure license. That's why Lego stopped making magnet minifigures that could be removed from the magnets.
