Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
HawkLord replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The current price is "fair"... if you haven't been collecting Lego Star Wars for the past six years and acquired all the contents of AoH through other sets during that time. If you're new to Lego Star Wars, the current price is acceptable, but if you have all that material through other means, then there's really no point to the set and it would probably appear lazy and unwanted. -
It's the new softer cape that some of the Marvel sets have. It allows minifigures to sit in chairs and vehicle seats and whatnot.

Both minifigures look great. I like the markings on her face in both light and dark modes. Her lightsaber holy is the same type as Asajj, which I'm sure is not connected in some fictional, but is a nice departure from the standard hilt. Dengar looks great and maybe with some brown printed legs (dare I say, Han's) he would be the definitive version of the character. Plus, black and dark red flats...

No Indy stuff at all, yet. It's another dream license I'm sure Funko will get eventually. Especially given their good relationship with Disney.

There's some decent deals on Star Wars merchandise out there. GameStop is running a sale on Infinity figures. Comic stores are running $1 first issues of most current and some past Star Wars comics. Various sites have stuff marked down. Pretty decent day for Star Wars shopping. May the 4th be with us all.

I hate to be super negative, but everyone who doesn't like this set, should rate it just to send a message.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
HawkLord replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think at this point Lego knows it can play the "long game" with all of its main licensed themes - Star Wars, Marvel, and DC. They don't have to release the best possible version in every instance. Now, Lego does know that they have to out out major sellers, like Spidey, every year or every wave. That's why I think Lego knows when they have a great set on their hands or a sucky one. Rhino/Sandman I think they knew going in was going to be a sucky set, but they were jumping on the ASM 2 buzz and knew some tie-in could be slightly profitable. Kinda like the last X-Men set that tied-in to DoFP. -
Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

I'm surprised that people keep mentioning the boots. It's a sales tactic - why offer the best Spidey when you're slat easy gonna buy this set for all the other amazing stuff? Save that perfect Spidey for a less than amazing set to add interest. I'm sure Lego knew the Rhino/Sandman set wasn't get and that's why they had to up the "wow factor" with Spidey. Not every set will be 100% perfect and there's a reason for that. -
Exactly. And what's great is we've already seen a push by Disney to carry their own action figure line over the Hasbro one. Disney stores used to carry the Hasbro Black Series figures and last year they stopped so that they can carry their own Disney Elite Series. The Elite Series is essentially the same product as the Black Series, only a slightly larger scale - 7" as opposed to 6". This shift shows that Disney had the guts and foresight to move away from old, stale products like the Black Series. Disney also stopped carrying the Hasbro Marvel 6" figures in exchange for carrying Diamond Selects 6" line. Again, moving away from Hasbro.

I did, I even had a screenshot on my phone that I went off of. Not sure what I may have missed. It was definitely a tight fit and with the lid not totally closing I thought the staff might say something, but they didn't. But still, it's an awesome technique. I doubt I would have even thought of it myself - I probably would have tried to make columns or something.

I've been seeing Giant Man (big Antman) on sale at TRU.
-
That's very true and that's the going point about all of this that's the most frustrating - Pop Vinyls, Lego minifigures, none of these are "action figures" by definition. My only hope is that Hasbro sinks more to the bottom. Granted they're in the top three of toy makers, but Lego came up and pushed everyone down. Hoping something like this happens again or something else to make Disney rethink the license.

Ding! Ding! First Doctor winner. That's looks great.

Using the trick previously mentioned, I was able to get 157 2x4 bricks into a large cup. Definitely a good price per brick ratio.

In general, the promo polybags are not supposed to be for sale individually, but TRU is really lax on the subject. Each promo polybag is supposed to be part of a larger "with purchase" type promo, but oftentimes TRU employees don't get the memo or don't care. I've been able to get most "with purchase" TRU promos just by going to certain TRUs that just put them in a dump bin the week they come in our buy offering to buy them outright. Again, the promo factor is how polybag minifigures get around the Hasbro action figure license issue. Another good example of this is Funko Pop Vinyl figures that must be created as bobble heads for their Star Wars and Marvel figures. This is also necessary because even though the Pop figures have no moving parts or features and are a stylized version of the character they represent, Hasbro can still claim they are "action figures". The other important thing to remember is that Hasbro's contract only applies to the US, which is why other action figure companies are permitted to make Star Wars action figures in other markets, like Asia, for example. Now, prior to 2006, Hasbro did have a license on the 12" action figure product. But in 2006, they gave it up to Sideshow Colectibles (and subsequently Hot Toys by extension). So, there is a precedence for product license types to be renegotiated.
-
Ultimately it's Disney who negotiates the contracts now and if they feel a Star Wars CMF line would be successful they can approach that at the next contract negotiation with Hasbro. Since the action figure issue is the primary reason we don't have dedicated Star Wars (or Marvel) minifigures sold anywhere. I think the Hasbro contract with Disney goes until 2020, so hopefully something changes at that time. Besides Hasbro isn't doing the same kind of business for the Star Wars license as Lego, so I get the impression Disney can make the shift to CMF easily enough.

I worry about a Star Wars CMF line being viable because a number of the pieces may not or cannot be useable elsewhere. At least with the current main CMF line, Lego can offset R&D costs by using the pieces across their other lines. With some IPs, certain pieces are only exclusive to those IPs.

Lego Star Wars minifigure book at $15. I didn't have the proto Fett, so that made it worthwhile.

Chrome all the way. It's funny that even in 2013 they made Dooku's hilt chrome but not anyone else since. I think the last I saw with a chrome hilt would have been a couple years before.

Another round of winners! Good job!

That amount has never been known. Same with the Black Friday Invites or when Lego handed out those chrome red minifigure keychains in 2013 just because. Nobody knows just how much you have to buy, or everyone would be trying to hit that mark. Speaking of and going off-topic, why am I now remembering those chrome red keychains as the gold old days. I can't think of Lego doing anything close to those since.

Nope, if anything the UCS Snowspeeder helps the AT-ATs case. However the UCS Assault on Hoth may hurt the AT-ATs chances if the sales don't perform.

So, next is a scaled Bumblebee... right?

Forresto - great modification! I think the kama does something to make Vader look bigger. Pretty cool idea, I like it.
