  1. Another excellent build! I like the color choices you made for the building and also the mix of the flashy green and the more desaturated hues of the olive green. I saw the initial version with the "old" roof on Flickr and I must say the new version is definitely an improvement.
  2. Great chapter house! I love how you did the roof. The angles make it really special. Too bad it was too small for an interior. It would've really perfected the build, since the outside looks so good already!
  3. Great colors and architecture! The crenellations are so simple, yet very effective. The Indian inspiration was immediately clear for me, because of those crenellations. They remind me of the Indian civ in Age of Empires 3. Very nice figures too! They compliment the whole atmosphere so well.
  4. Beautiful build! You really nailed the architecture. The round gate is interesting and the cherry blossom tree finishes the build with a nice splash of color.
  5. Great, I love it! The top shot is an excellent view for this scene. I love the circling birds and seeing the pirates trudge their way up the cliffs.
  6. A column of troops is always an imposing view! It's great to see so many of the Knights of Hades. Like the others have mentioned; interesting technique to build the craters. Maybe not tiling the top would make it more rough and crater-like perhaps, like irregular piles of dirt stacked by the explosion instead of it being very smooth? Simple yet effective wall, as well. The gap is very nicely built.
  7. Interesting way to raise more troops. It's something else than the usual marching or shooting at stuff. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it is nice to see some deviation. Is the wall only a wall, or is it part of a larger castle you have build? It looks incredible!
  8. The story made me chuckle for sure. Making "fake" clothing is such a pirate thing to do. The MOC itself is very beautiful, too. It has a great tropical feeling all-around and fits the pirate theme very well. I love the general style of the architecture.
  9. Interesting tent design. I haven't seen a tent like that before. The figures and background obviously steal the spotlight here. They're gorgeous! Those custom kilts fit so well. Awesome group of soldiers. Block Watch is a great pun .
  10. Hahaha, awesome! Love that second picture with the field of depth and the Dutch-ish tilt going on. Cool build with a beautiful wind mill! What torso does the guy standing with his back towards the camera in the first picture have? It looks like a pirate-y torso, but I don't recognize it.
  11. Great build with lots of cool techniques and piece usage to pick up on. Like the others have said, there is a distinct Carribean feel! I like how you used olive green for the base. I haven't seen that a lot, but it works well here. The usage of the palm tree leaf pieces stands out as well. Would be neat to see such a huge quantity in real life, but the price would be exuberant, I think. I also really like the construction of the wind mill: simple, yet effective.
  12. Love that concept. A cool idea to expand upon! All three options look really interesting, lore and MOC wise.
  13. Another classic Ayrlego build! Gorgeous! Yellow as the primary color works so well here and give it a real exotic vibe. It just looks like a clean and well-finished built all around. Beautiful!
  14. Neat build! A necropolis suits the Canon's personality and story. I like how you did the small roofs. Very clean solution to add a Greek/classical touch. The different statues and such are probably the urns or graves of the deceased? Re: photography; decent lighting changes so much. I finally bought myself a lightbox with built-in LED lighting and the quality of my photos has significantly improved. Now I only need to up my photography skills themselves as well . Before, I was very dependent on good weather for proper lighting and never found a good setup, so having dedicated lights now really helps.
  15. Nice cooks and lineup of figures. Like I said on Flickr: an actual soup or field kitchen would also be a nice addition. I think I've seen the elephant trunks mostly used as exposed roots and not branches.
  16. Like I said on Flickr: I really like this shot. The source material is very apparent and the execution with the forced perspective is perfect. Love the addition of the small people in the background to give it more life.
  17. An excellent build and very interesting exposition that goes with it. I like how you did the smoke cabin, with actual meat inside.
  18. I saw this MOC when you first posted it, but forgot to comment. It's a really good build! I think you nailed the play vs. realism here. It looks realistic enough to be a proper model, but doesn't look off when you'd put it next to the new Black Seas Barracuda. You really hit the spot between having enough details and not going overboard with too much details. Can't wait to see it with the figures! I also saw the brickbuilt bottom on Bricksafe and that looks interesting as well. A neat solution to expand upon the existing hull pieces.
  19. Like I said in a previous build: those cannons are very nice. I love the way you built those. Is there a reason for the white limbers, instead of reddish brown? Personal preferences or don't all of the parts needed exist in reddish brown?
  20. What an original build! I would've never have thought of building a rat catcher's. The rats being displayed around the house give it a lot of character. Same with the gargoyle above the door. Really cool! Loving the rat catcher himself as well. Great face and combos.
  21. An impressive display of soldiers! Like I said on flickr, I like the small accents of coral. I hadn't really noticed the brickbuilt cannon beforehand, but it looks really sweet! Awesome design there.
  22. Lovely array of soldiers, but the micro build is what steals the show here. The fortress looks perfect! Great work on the angles and shaping of it.
  23. So awesome to finally see this with the full story! Like I said on Flickr, it's an impressive build and I love the way you show the fight in three different levels. It reminds me of different WW2 games and movies set in Stalingrad and the likes, with the fighting underground and between houses and stuff. Very nice build, full of details. I really like the catacombs you did. It gives the scene an extra eerie setting.
  24. Thanks! I really need to get around to actually finishing the surrounding artwork, with the figures and all. Still to need to draw these either in Illustrator or perhaps on the iPad or Photoshop if I want a more painterly feeling to them. I just can't find the time to actually do it. I'm looking for a gothic-y vibe for the map, befitting of the city. It don't know the details of what has been discussed, but I do believe the 4 current player factions will remain the player factions. Player activity isn't super high and the Sea Rats barely have active members, so adding more player factions wouldn't be beneficial I think. The Star Wars Factions RPG also works with about 3/4 factions, I think. Most likely for similar reasons. Again, I don't know the specifics, but confederations might be obtained through player activity (MOCs) or AMCRA. But even then, the 4 main factions will always be the main focus. There has been an excellent AMCRA to explore Mokolei and perhaps secure an alliance. When we were working on the background for the Grand Alliance State, it was initially also @Ross Fisher's and mine idea to do an AMCRA there, to perhaps secure an alliance for Oléon. In the end that didn't happen (mostly because I couldn't find the time to do it properly), but Ross did make an excellent series about the history. So in summary I guess you could say: if you build it and the Court agrees with it, you might establish background for or relations with an NPC nation. Perhaps @Bregir or @Ayrlego could chime in here, to make sure I have it right? EDIT: Just for completeness' sake, here's a link roughly outlining some of the as of yet very blank NPC nations. Nothing is set in stone for those, though, I think.
  25. Heads up to those interested: I updated some parts of the main post and added in some military units and a summary of MOCs in the second post. Topics updated: Iconography information has now been completed Characteristics/national stats have now also been filled in A chapter 'Sources' has been added, where you can find the official RP'ed background information and sources A link to an architectural mood board I made awhile ago as visual guidance for myself has been added to the 'Inspiration' chapter The map has been updated, showing the proper location and territory of Essen and fiefdoms (sadly, I haven't continued finishing the drawing and general lay-out graphically, though) On my to-do list: I will add more units to the army overview. Mostly this is just separating soldiers that are now in group shots (e.g. the Death Head's infantry in the main post, together with the cavalry need to be split apart). Most units can already be found in Flickr. I will further update the main post over time with more shots of characters or just some MOC scenes to visually enhance the post, like the topics of the main nations have. The main framework is largely there though and I think it already gives quite a good summary of Essen's background, state-of-mind and visual style. I've intentionally left most of the Carno map blank and only added in "my" stuff and that which was already on the map (lcoation of Aden). As such, there's is still plenty of room for others if they want. I certainly wouldn't want to claim everything as "mine" .
