  1. Just talking about Ninjago, in the opening it feels like it's simply a storytelling from the shop owner Liu or that boy was the player? If LEGO tries to connect all LEGO films perhaps they'd not exclude Ninjago, unless hinting that Liu is a neighbor of Finn. But anyway hopefully Alfred, DIck and Barbara can have a cameo in TLM2. I know some NInjago fans would watch it, but I perfer seeing more unused franchises reference as Llyod has been in both TLM1 cameo and set. > I hope they haven't ditched the musical element My guess is that is what would happen on the other planets they're gonna visit?
  2. Depends on how they deal with the film. First, it has to be a brick-based stop motion film to be in line with other LEGO cinematic works, not like the TV cartoon series which just use oridinary 3D artworks. Secondly, based on how the canon works LEGO Friends just got a reboot story in 2018, or it could be an independent story like Ninjago did. The minidolls from TLM2 could be a market testing? If general audience are fine with minidolls in a LEGO film then TLC could consider a film with minidoll-only next time.
  3. BTW, anyone remember those was not even supposed to belong to Finn? Maybe just their father decides to leave a space for the kids to play. It feels like not only no master builder meeting for this time, but since the main characters are going to outspace where minifigures might not exist, yes, it feels like those licensed themes are gonna be unable to play a role in the storyline. (I wanted to say if they could include LEGO Universe so that the faction leaders can appear in outerspace, well, not a likely guess anyway ) But I also don't think TLC would give up the chance promoting their mainstream minifigure products, so I'm sure they'd still manage to give new master builder minifigures (Scooby, Owen, Tracer) some cameo. Maybe Sweet Mayhem has already captured other minifigures to the homeland? Alright, talking about this could be out of sudden, but I just realize that the previous three LEGO films show to be repetitive in something..... either Finn/Dad from TLM1, Dick/Bruce/Alfred from TLBM, Llyod/Garmadon from Ninjago, okay, all their focus are father-son relationship. It makes sense to focus on family issues since the targeted audience are kids. But still, it kinda feels like ladies would have a hareder time to intepret what the films trying to tell. since these cases are not exacly similiar withe the mother-daughter relationships. Finn's sisters is no doubt gonna have the major role in TLM2, and this time it could focus on sibling issues if Finn does go into his dark age. What I'm wondering is if Finn's mother or any other elder female family would show up? Perhaps the story needs a FOL who experienced the Scala/Belville era to play a part and guide the kids.
  4. We mainly guess the future obtained licensne such as Overwatch. StarTrek was obtained by Hasbro as far as we knew. Personally I'm not fond of such kind of move. I think there's some technical issues to include minidolls in Collectible Minifigure blindbags. Such as, would the weight differ? Would they be easily identifiable by touching? (okay I know that's officially unallowed , but it is an issue after all...) And secondly, if that is allowed why the Disney series didn't already do it by recycling the minidolls from the regular sets to save design costs? I think it would have less problem to just seperate them in different lines. Oh well, btw, this thread might better concentrate more on set prediction. Just for story discussion let's move to the Media forum.
  5. As an Asian, the angrier Unikitty gives me a feel of a "wudan", a Chinese opera actress role reference. I thought they'd change Wyldstyle's hairstyle cause that is pretty much not exclusive in today's view. But TLC choose to introduce a goggle version so I'm neautral with this. I feel like the MadMaxBricksburg citizens are gonna be choices of the CMF series. Just not sure if they'd pick old characters or those we never had instead. After all they could stuff new versions of Emmet or Wyldstyle once again, so tougher Larry or tougher Gail would be possible as well. Speaking of CMF series, I suddeny come up with a question about this film might introduce more characters in minidoll forms or others..... doesn't that mean they cannot be in CMF series but just stay in regular sets? Or we'll have the very first Collectible Minidoll series?
  6. Still we need to take the two things apart. It's more about indicating a franchise than showing a certain type of figures. (Well it's gone offtopic so let's focus on the sets here). I'm not sure if most here have seen the new reboot cartoon series. It does look like newer Friends sets have become more story-wise thing.
  7. It looks like the villain was serching for the strongest one (master builder?) from this city, it didn't necessarily say that alien was exactly a villain figure. Perhaps the alien was only looking for helpers for the homeland?
  8. Thanx for the trailer. After the invasion of Duplo, the tougher life in Bricksburg kills me XD. Also Vivitrus's hairpiece can be seen.... So I won't be surprised to see the tougher Bricksburg citizens in TLM2 sets or Collectible series? That sticker attack, pretty much effective to certain FOLs... Meanwhile, although should have known from the cast reveal, we won't have Mr. Business, as well as more familiar faces in this film? Since the main characters are leaving their "minifigure planet" to somewhere else....
  9. While we've not yet known whether Friends can eventually have a role in any LEGO film, I think there's no need to have a movie tie since the different series still stays with the respective canon. Just like the Ninjago sets from that year was still NInjago, not TLM version. Pretty much the Unikitty case.
  10. Following the Duplo invasion from the last scene, it feels like the TLM canon is trying to say that all different LEGO figures exist in different planets or worlds, and the TLM2 storyline would focus on the how the minifigures interact with different LEGO figures such as minidolls, BIONICLE, Duplo figures etc. Though it's really nice to see TLC trying to tell LEGO history and cover all the LEGO themes, not sure how the toy sets reflect on such plot. I'm curious what kind of character it is (the Queen?), tho. My own interpretation is that they're trying to add a new character that represents a different theme concept from either the current main TLM1 cast (construction, pirate, space etc) or the current minidoll original themes (town, fantasy). But if this character or the whole TLM2 story concept covers Space, not sure if that would be repetitive with Benny's role? Or it'd be classic versus innovation?
  11. Not exactly political reasons, but RuPaul's Drag Race might have problems in appealing worldwide kids who don't quite understand what drag is or just think other sets are more fun than that . On ther other hand, we haven't seen a reality show license in LEGO if my memory works, LEGO original's World Racers actually kinda looks like a real reality show concept, so the possibility of a show that involves both challenges (that appeals kids) and buildings might work? Robenanne's projects unfortunately have to meet the project series policy. He needs to come up with a different style of building project.
  12. I see your suggestion, but while not sure if LEGO City can also do that, the sets could still introduce new researcher characters in the outerspace sets, while the main Friends possibly just stay on Earth. Of course I cannot tell a Space Tourism won't happen in the new reboot seems to try to break the boundaries. Back to the main topic though, I think we haven't seen the Friends go on a safari tour. But that depends on whether FOLs would be crazy about the taste of Friends' animal molds... And only if the monorail city train would happen, but I guess it won't.
  13. For a Space series, it depends on how far the Friends canon would go with the still ordinary schoolgirls. I think it may work in a way like the LEGO Ideas NASA set, abit educational. Olivia visits the new space research institute in Heartlake to see her favorite idol astronaut and a series of evil schemes happen, something like that. I like the idea of renaissance fair, they could introduce some of the history of Heartlake. The need of toddler minidoll doesn't need words. Not exactly Friends, just look at Sophie Jones and that's enough.
  14. Post edit and add some official source / new findings to help new readers understand. (sorry for bumping if that is it). As for stop-motion, I just think there are already some official LEGO minidolls short films using stop motion. I guess LEGO would just do the same if they officially decide to bring minidolls into The LEGO Movie On the other hand, most of their "product animation" just show that the minidolls can normally walk. It's mainly the defect in real toy playing rather than stop-motion video, and only imagination can save that.
  15. I'm neutral with OW being a possible candidate. Of course I say this with ignoring the whole regular-versus-license debate. Just for OW there is some difficulty to make all major characters into the regular sets, and CMF series can help that, and I like OW characters so I don't mind getting them. Ultimately this depends on whether the diversity of OW characters can interest those kids who even don't play video games at all.
  16. I honestly don't fully comprehend Blizzard games, but I wonder if Warcraft and Starcraft have potential conflct with LEGO's major franchises (LotR and SW) despite Warcraft was more about being owned by Megabloks in earlier times. Well yeah, it feels like either only huge variety of sets or another CMF series can cover the amount of of playable characters from this game. Especially the accurate molds.
  17. Hi guys. As you know TLM2 is within our reach in 2019, there's some time for us to guess what references would like to be used. As we knwo from TLM1, there were quite many references used, especially in the "master builder" when many major LEGO themes representives showed up. There's a very high chance for the same thing going on again, but it's not like LEGO/Warnerbros would always be obedient to what fans want. (for example, the famous Disney-owned media case, we all know that), so I start this topic to check if each franchise has the chance to be in TLM2 or not. *References can be anything, the bigger one is of course having a character figure appear, the smaller one include buildings, world map, scenes, or even just lines. *This topic is mainly activated before TLM2 officially released and all referenced are digged out. *All franchises from TLM1 are all considered available options of references in TLM2, despite I personally wish to see new ones instead. Category 1: franchises between TLM1 and TLM2 Which weren't able to make it into TLM1 so they might be starred in the first place. UniKitty Oh well, the direct spinoff of TLM featuring the very lovely UniKitty! Honestly it seems not very necessary to show all other characters beside UniKitty if she is already the representive from that franchise. But it wouldn't be bad to give Puppycorn and the others in some footage when Emmet and others visit the re-built Cloud Cuckoo Land again. Mixels In some aspects of CN cartoon shorts, it's the predecessor of UniKitty series. I think it's fine to have one of the Mixels or use the cubits references, but not quite sure if this discontinued theme has the popularity in marketing? The Batman Movie Similiar with UniKitty, they might not have to highlight TBM either because Batman and other DC heroes have been featured, or the story is possibly in a different canon. But TBM have grabbed lots of fans and it'd be sweet to see Alfred, Dick and Barbara from the TBM canon also show up in TLM2. Elves One of the current long-running LEGO originals, with unique elf characters and world. It'd be nice to show any elf character as a master builder Nexo Knights The other current running LEGO original, despite it's gonna discontinue this year... Scooby-Doo I assume the chance Scooby appearing in TLM2 is 100%. No explaination. Jurassic World Also 100% chance to have Owen in TLM2 considerin how big this franchise is to WB. Minecraft I think it'd make it in. Especially wowing audience by literally throwing Emmet into the Minecraft worlds and making him chase by the zombies, that'd be fun. Team DFB Well, not sure, Perhaps these guys will take O'Neal's place to star in TLM2? The Angry Birds Movie I'm not sure about this one as well (or should say I'm not sure how is WB doing with Rovio). ABM is gonna have sequel in the same time, but if we're not having ABM2 sets then, would that mean also no any bird in TLM2 as well? LEGO Ideas exclusive franchises Including Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, The Big Bang Theory, The Beatles, NASA ladies All inroduced from LEGO Ideas, but Ideas franchises remain unknown. It'd be stated later. LEGO Dimensions exclusive franchises Including Sonic the Hedgehod, Gizmo, Jake, Betelgeuse... etc. Given that this film has the be closely based on physical figures, the other in-game characters might not be in the movie unless the sets have them. I'm neutral to see them in the film but the regular themes should still be prior IMO. Powerpuff Girls One of the extended franchise from the LEGO Dimensions, it'd make sense for them to be in as CN's main representives. Category 2: past franchises before TLM1 Franchises which didn't make it into TLM1 for unknown reasons. Back to the Future If not counting the original Minecraft building set, this is the very first minifigure-scale LEGO Ideas licensed franchise. However, for unknown reason Marty and Doc didn't make it into TLM1. Despite without any other official regular set, the characters still returned in LEGO Dimensions and this proves it is still an active LEGO license. So, if BttF finally get included in TLM2 canon for this time, the other later LEGO Ideas franchise might all have the chance as well? Friends Currently the second longrunning LEGO original franchise behind Ninjago, which just faced a new reboot this year. It was in the third year when TLM1 was introduced, but they were not really presented in this film (only cited in the world map as a small reference). But now given how notable this franchise it nowaday, any of the Friends should really be in the TLM2 cameo this time. BIONICLE / Hero Fcatory Similiar with Friends, it onlt got small reference from the world map. But it also face huge issue of not quite fitting in the minifigre-scale world as buildable figure toyline, it's even more cruel for being discontinued once again before TLM2 comes. But as an important page of the LEGO history, I still wish that LEGO at least make another reference in TLM2 for this time. Belville Duh... I dunno, like BIONICLE, maybe just a small reference is enough. Time Cruisers / Island Xtreme Stunts Since Johnny had made apperance in TLM1, I would suggest these two historical franchises gets footage in TLM2 for this time, and it'd be sweet if Pepper Roni or Dr. Cyber gets some redesign in physical LEGO sets. CITY Undercover Okay, since Chase McCain has made it into LEGO Dimensions, hopefully also in TLM2 as well. LEGO Universe / Clutch Powers It might just be my personal wish, but I do think LEGO still owe these two franchises a footage since they were suppsoed to be the origins of LEGO crossover projects despite being only in LEGO non-physical media works. Category 3: rumored future franchise after TLM2 Like how they inserted Milhouse in TLM1, it'd be predicable to have another one this time. Overwatch Okay, this is new, I wouldn't be too surprised to see Tracer hop in and steal Wyldstyle's glamor. Here's my personal prediction Main cameos: Unikitty, The Batman Movie, Nexo, Jurassic, MInecraft, Powerpuff Girls Small references / not quite sure: Friends, Elves, Mixels, BTTF, Team DFB What do you guys think? Do you have different ideas about these franchises or you have other unmentinoed options?
  18. Sounds legit when it comes to all those original character molds.... welll I'll buy them, but not sure how normal kids react? So Megabloks basically loses mose franchises recently?
  19. Very huge honor to have your fast reply sir, possibly because the earlier figures of bad decals you saw were very memorable. I sorta admit it's a dark age for having to handle my other works and interests. It is really nice to find a local print studio so that I can spare some time to go back here for a while.
  20. Alright, where should I start? I've been leaving this place for quite a time, so I lost track with some of the old posts. But anyway, I think it might rather be simpler to put all things together in one thread. So I choose to slowly restart in this post from now on. Thanks to the help with a new local print provider, the newer redesigns has a better chance to improve (my decal skill is still awful ). As a new start, I begin with the original franchise with the minidoll lineup Friends, which just began a series of reboot design in this year. 21. It just doesn't seem right to discuss about figure. Minifigures were not meant to look like human, and we can hardly find licensed characters exactly look like minifigures. That's why minifigures are the icon of the LEGO franchise. Unless LEGO introduce more licensed themes with alternative minidolls or long-legged figures from Toy Story line. That's another discussion topic.
  22. This is not a difficult review. Most rejected projects again have problem with scale, and I'm sure a modular library would happen in a near future (it's not the kind of "new idea" that LEGO need fans to speak by themselves). The Petit Prince does surprise me alittle bit. If not cause unable to get the license, I do think this should be an easy model to represent the core story illusion. Kinda because most of us would choose the previous rejected one nstead? I do want that treehouse, but anyway this project managed to make it achieved. I suspect that LEGO would just ultilize the license to make another HQ case happen..
  23. I think that depends on whether the characters from LEGO Batman are licensed by LEGO or DC. If, like you say, nobody beside Batman relate to the DC franchises and the movie is more like Batman's viewpoint of the Bricksburg world, that could happen.(But if we're talking about the story itself, I rather wonder if TLM fans and DC fans would really be interested in a movie like that?) Uh well.... I don't think I'm interested in this Ninjago series which also just rehashes all of the familiar Ninjago heroes. Probably only if the variants are very interesting or many exclusive items are included. Aside from some of the heroes,I might imagine that it gives some side characters from the TV series, exclusive ones from the movie and some Japanese-oriented personalities.
  24. I'm accustomed to the looks of molded heads from either Toy Story sets or Simpsons. The dissapointing part to me is that we cannot ultilize hats/hairpieces/headgears since they're inseperable, although making them seperate could largely increase the cost of whole Simpsons CMF lineup. I think the headgear for Genie looks unnatural, though I rather bet that this headgear is prepared for another licensed character.
  25. Yes, just predictions so far. The theory goes like:1) Disney franchises show to be more promosing than Simpsons series which has two CMF series. 2) Not yet completed the major Mickey&Friends cast and LEGO should know that. Well, when they include Toy Story they knew negativity is inevitable.....
