The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion

If it's like the Babysitter which comes with Benny? 70831 — Emmet’s Dream House/Rescue Rocket 70828 — Pop-Up Party Bus Interstingly we have more original minidoll character for this lineup. The bus would definitely interest many girls. -

Wow, so they're literally making Duplo figures based on the TLM characters. Still I wonder if this is a thing to be shown in the physical films-- will we see Emmet the Duplo figure in the film? Or it's just how TLG have been doing, only making TLM Duplo figures for underage kids to play? -

https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/new-sets-for-the-lego-movie-2-the-second-part-tease-new-characters-vehicles-and-hilarity The sweet friends are cute! Wonder if they'll also show up in the Unikitty show as well. Doubledeck then Thricycle, very Emmet . I thought the Space Suqad is where that small pink figure is revealed, but sadly not this time. So the whole set is kinda a tribute for classic Space fan. -
Frozen 2 sets are pretty much foreseen, but that is different from how classic themes are presented. With that said, it is in deed a problem that the Disney, despite become regular, does not try to expand more franchises for the sets like how DC and Marvel do. Just one Tiana being the only new princess addition for such long time is a very sad thing. I wouldn't mind it they could bring in more side characters or animals if the same franchise continues, tho. TLG pretty much owe us a Gothel, if they remember they're actually making her house set.

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Interesting to see how they're dedicating to blend minidolls with minifigures this time. Just not sure what Susan's role is, she looks kinda like a parody of Disney Princess minidoll which wants to make up for the loss that Disney franchises cannot participate in LEGO films . But in this case I would say, if we're repeating the TLM1 case that a set would include past LEGO characters, I hope this would indicate that Friends and Elves characters also have chances to be involved in both the story and the sets. -
Offtopic: although not following Playmobil that often, they changed their eyes not just their previous Super4 but also some genric female figures for city dress sets. But well, the drawback is that they don't try to blend all previous styles of different faces but just another new style. And similiar with the LEGO's infamous case, I deeply concern about how much Super4 would be referenced. Back to the TLM2 news, so the queen can shapeshift into anything built by Duplo bricks. Oh well, for this time it's confirmed that the Duplo figures and minidolls also co-exist with the minifigures in this canon. I think they would definitely have to explain the same character has alternative forms (in physical cases such as Wonder Woman being all three types) But considering Rex and Emmet's case, I also feel the high possibility of three Dianas may co-exist in the same canon which means this Duplo Diana is not the same person as minifigure in TLM1. Okay, one giraffe spot for CMF series. Although I feel like we had enough costumes in series 18..... I do think this is a good chance to take care of female family members due to all previous three LEGO films spent most of time talknig about father-son relationship. But here is a concern about the figure whether they're covering their alteregos well. Sweet Mayhem is likely gonna be Finn's sister's alterego based on her lines in the trailer. But for their mother, if truly based on the LEGO history, she would have been a Scala or Belville doll to represent herself. However, it makes sense that TLC cannot bring back discontinued materials in this physical sets, so the mother being a Duplo monster is kinda a compormised result. BTW, I'm not following the leaks and news so far, how is the chance of Owen of JP in TLM2? It feels like they're making Rex a parody or any character Pratt has played, but does that alternatively deconfirm Owen's existence?

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Depends on TLC's policy for CMF series. If they want to target at young customers like Junior does, animated films would hold bigger chances. Adding others may appeal wider range of fols. Kids could be interested in characters like Mary Poppins or Jack Sparrow as well. Main categories are: 1) classic Disney animated films and shows (before 1990), recent adaptions count 2) modern Disney animated films 3) Pixar works 4) Live action films 5) Disney TV channel originals I think this one is more known for the original game franchise than Disney's version. It could hardly surpass other Disney princes so probably stay as a set theme. Well this is a fair guess. Although I'm okay with having the Legacy version.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Given by what we got from series 1: Lightyear and Ariel, yes, it is possible for TLC to include some popular characters no matter if s/he already have been minidolls or minifigures in previous regular sets. It's all about whether people are willing to see new characters of unused franchises or pay for the ones that could be obtained from other sets. I just notice that we also have to take LR/PotC/Tron into consideration if we're totally open to the case of re-inclusion.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Uh.... wait, I remember we had the large cat mold from City line? It is obviously the feasible choice for Rajah's update in regular sets, not sure why you associate with collecitble minifigures. Still this depends on whether LEGO Juniors would like to re-launch such similiar pet/animal focused set lineup again like they did with Palace Pets last time. If so it'd be really nice to see sets based on Dumbo, Bambi and Aristocats, given that we have cat and deer molds for this case. Well, depends on the pratical uses I think. IMO just abit longer hairpiece would not make big difference. In the case of Playmobil, they also highlight the extensibility and playability for the hairpiece.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Still like I mentioned above, given that the tie with Disney Princess would still likely continues in later years, it provides good possibility of character design renewals. So the request of redesign or new parts is barely relevant with the CMF series case. Here's an additional issue, due to the blind bag it could be either easy to find or hard to contain. It could end up becoming regular set exclusive in the end. Anyway, I would say the minidoll lovers would also agree to give Rapunzel an actual long hairpiece. Not quite sure if TLG would successfully innovate such a thing. I see Playmobil has it but not sure if its material is similiar with LEGO's.- 961 replies

LEGO Friends 2018: Girls on a Mission, worthy reboot or not?
Dorayaki replied to Dorayaki's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Currently it seems like they announce the end of 2018 episodes for GoaM.series. If the cartoon series would continue in 2019, so far the pattern is that eight episodes consist of a chapter for every half year. *spoiler alert Personally I quite like how they deal with the go-kart chapter. Interesting and continous plot, Alva's evil plan and Dottie's story also serve good seasonings. Regardless of the canons, I can say it works better than the old cartoon series so far. But reflecting on the toy promotions, the "automatic kart" obviously plays a very key role in the story. It is very confusing to not have it in any of the current set, which is a miss IMO. Oh well the Heartlake City Pet Centre is totally unheard. Not even sure why Liam the minidoll would return, maybe wait for 2019 storyline? -
If really based on reality we would have to question how Finn's family be the very first to obtain the TLM sets XD. Maybe the father is a super VIP? Very likely they replace the Ninjago characters with the TLNM version and would not mention the TV series canon. As for Batman and TLBM, let's see how they deal with it.

Suggestion of BigHero6 would be not too different from KingdomHearts which is also collaborative franchise. Sora can raise the sales but we just know he won't be here. The question is rather why TLG skipped BH6 for regular sets considering their simultaneous tie with Marvel.

In advertising aspect, I agree. Although sounds like a Nexo representive in TLM2 will be way less likely. But it does sound interesting to have Lloyd, Johnny and others Max-fied. -
LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Frozen is pretty much known as a regular set choice. But unofficial princess is a good idea as long as they won't be choices for Junior sets. For Wreck-it-Ralph, as mentioned above, unfortunately it loses the chance of becoming a Junior set with its theatrical sequel. The other biggest concern is that Ralph is a choicee for regular set exclusive, so it'd be weird to have Vanellope be in CMF series alone. Giselle is known for portrait license issue so she is sadly a no. The remaining notable case would be Sofia and Elena known for their TV shows. Kida would be neat IMO.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, it's not against or not. Minidolls were created for specific tastes and marketing so people are allow to prefer minidoll or minifigre, or both. I think what matters in this case is whether TLC could leave room to introduce princess minifigures in regular sets, given that princess franchises have become firm part of the Junior lineup.- 961 replies

I see that, but not sure if it could be a costume as the hairpiece design would hardly be considered useful in a CNY scenario. So the Chima tiger mold suit better IMO.

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
This would still not work if you're suggesting a character that doesn't fit in the image of a regular minifigure from the beginnig, pretty much how some of use don't like his minodll form. We could expect his redesign as a large figure in a furture LEGO Junior set instead. Well Ralph and Hunchback are unlikely for same reason. Unfortunately we still don't see news for WiR in Junior sets even if it releases a sequel. With more Toy Story sets given, having reptitive characters even just variations is not a wise idea IMO. It's not like Wizard World occupied both complete set lineup and a CMF series. Well, I would hold the same opinion as the one from previous thread, I'm against the idea of the inclusion of princess characters that have been given the chance to be included in regular LEGO Junior sets. Even with the difference of minidolls and minifigures, that is a different issue of TLC and CMF series doesn't make a perfect solution for that. More importantly, I think those minor classic franchises would matter more since they are unlikely gonna be in any future LEGO Junior set which mainly focus on currently active franchises or recent films aside from the princesses. But I admit there is a problem, excluding princess-related franchise would end up difficulty of finding female leading protagonist for the choices in this CMF lineup which is suppsoed to be friendly to girls. I still wonder if they could include representives from Disney Channel features or real actor characters (given by LEGO PotC and TRON). But the previous series did show that classic theatrical animation characters have the best chance.- 961 replies

Related to characters from previous series: 1) Steamboat Mickey (in black and white colors) 2) Goofy 3) Chip 4) Dale 5) Lilo 6) Wendy (from Peter Pan) My new franchise choices: 7) Pinocchio 8) Cruella 9) Mowgli 10) Winnie the Pooh 11) Kidagakash 12) Jack Skellington 13) Sally 14) Hercules 15) Remy of Ratatouille 16) Mary Poppins 17) Perry of Phineas and Ferb 18) Sofia the First My personal concerns about other suggestion: > Beast, Hunchback, Ralph, Sully Any of them would hardly fit in a regular minifigure design. They need to make debut in regular sets with extra large figures instead. > Pluto Too difficult in this case. I might be biased as I nominated Chip and Remy, but those characters do show humanoid sides in their moves, while the others like Bambi and Dumbo would need specific molds for their entire bodies. > Frozone I can really understand how frustrating he was a miss from the regular set lineup, but unfortunately we also have to consider that TLG have released enough characters from this IP, anymore is unfair to other franchises in a general view. Either let's wish that TLC will do more for Incredibles or it will bet a third film. > Joy, Russel I would say TLC could really just release a single exclusive regular set that covers up the whole main cast and scene. So this depends on TLC's mood. If they deny any possible opportunity to do Carl's house or Riley's headquarter set, then, yes, CMF series is their only hope. > Héctor, Judy Hoops My main concern is that such similiar cases are too new at this point, if considering they're still candidates for future LEGO Junior sets when the sequels are released. I do see their chances if TLC want to mix new with old instead of just classics, tho.

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
Dorayaki replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm not sure if the current news interest me, either in the aspects of toys and storyline. New characters are of course welcomed. As for Batman, I kinda see TLC and WB want to make jokes about his mutiple variations and identities of canons. I would not comment on this since Batman was considered part of the a main cast since the beginning. As for Lloyd, Green Latern and the others, I'm simply not supportive. As some others said it would have been a much better chance to introduce some new master builders, either licensed characters from minor franchises (Oz or more) or more revamped retro LEGO characters. I don't see the need of keep introducing the same bakcground characters unless WB is trying to promote their LEGO film lineup. I would stay wait-and-see attitude about the possible minidoll characters (original or un-original). Just in the toy lineup, I kinda doubt they would introduce minidolls based on licsnesed characters outside a regular theme. It would be simpler and more fair to have guests characters from Friends and Elves instead. Or like I mentioned in my old post, they could show Batgirl and Wonder Woman as minidolls in order to suprise Batman and make them understand how the Sistar System works. -
Not sure if these are gonna be available in my region (although it's quite easy to get packages from toy stores located in China). Of course as a Chinese I would really love to see things that celebrate my local festival. A Chinese house and a dance dragon are both mustbuys. ------ Interesting, if TLC keep this as a tradition so what is missing from the Chinese zodiac costume lineup? Rat: currently none. Ox: currently none. The only ox humanoid is Minotaur but his mold cannot be used for a costume. Tiger: should be a yes if recoloring a Chima tiger counts. Rabbit: yes. Dragon: yes. Snake: currently none. The Serpentine from Ninjago lineup can hardly be considered as costumes. Horse: shoule be a yes as romving the horn from the unicorn costume. Goat: currently none. Monkey: the gorilla costume might count, although abit relunctant in biological aspect. Rooster: yes. Dog: currently none. But if the is what TLC really plan, that means they must hurry a mouse costume in the most recent CMF series. I'm not sure if I would like it to happen.

While wouldn't be surprised to know Mia has horse in the reboot as well, we haven't seen Olivia's police horse who has made numerous cameos in the first year of cartoon. so that's weird to see other girls with their horses in sets first

Medium Legs --- are they gonna be in wide uses?
Dorayaki replied to Dorayaki's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I understand this might just be a sooner or later issue, which is not big deal. But to be picky, the issues could be: 1) Why weren't non-licensed lineups or TLBM Dick able to introduce such a thing? I understand that HP, a franchise with a bunch of teenagers makes sense in timing, but of course the earlier the better to certain missed characters. 2) Would TLG apply a clear and strict standard to the use of regular legs? Like R8 mentioned, new Spiderman of ItSV just makes an exception. -
Well, as the post mentioned, the deletion of past characters also include family memebers. And actually, some of the Friends side stories were not ensured to be part of the main canon, since all the "younger siblings" never made physical apperances, not to mention the minidoll kid issue. I would like to know if grandparents are shown in family sets one day. Weird enough, in the originla canon Mia's grandmother runs Sunshine Ranch and Andrea's grandmother owns Heartlake Hotel, neither character was made to be physical in respective set. Personally I think the introduction of political villains from both original series and reboot was meant to show that Heartlake is a charming place and the girls don't want those people to change it. The hero versus villain thing is rather something TLG prefer, tho. I don't mind physical villain figures in Friends as long as LEGO City and LEGO Elves can, to me, the advertising works best when kids can enjoy re-creating the story in physical play. The other reason I want an Alva era might be due to my wish for a minidoll robot . I think Jeremy is a neutral addition to any music-themed set with Andrea. I actually think you just explain the reason why Livi was sent away, just for that TLG want to focus more on Andrea's singer than Livi's. As for more male additions with dark tan skin, at least we have Dean in the main cast. Liam shows up in the reboot lineup but not sure if it is a random choice. That reminds Matthew from the original series had the most cameos in both cartoon and sets among the physical minor friends.. Kinda a shame TLG tries to replace him with a new love interest for Emma .
