Great Moc. I like the accessibility of all the pneumatic valves on the top of the cab. -

White is the New Red
Thirdwigg replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The white is very much in vogue right now, and as others have said, this is great. I would like Blue to be the next color. But while we are seeing an increase in Blue sets (42024, 42025, 42042), we are not seeing many new parts in this color. Introducing panels 3, 4 , 5, and 6 and any length flex hose would go a long way. -

Yeah, I was surprised by how much the chain links would. The were the perfect solution. -
[MOC] Kalmar 180-9

Thanks. Yeah, it was a simple solution, but it was pretty effective for getting a tight turning radius from the Servo motor. -

Let me know when you are in the states. We'll have a little get together. I don't plan to be in the Netherlands anytime soon, but if that changes, I'll bring it along. -
[MOC] Kalmar 180-9

I agree. I found myself making the choice between a low clearance and a motor on the fork boom. I found the choice I made to be a little cleaner. -
[MOC] Kalmar 180-9
Thirdwigg replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks all for your comments. I'm pleased with how it turned out. It's about 1:16 scale. Roughly. Don't envy me. March just happened to be a little lucky. or I prioritized a bunch of projects that have been sitting dormant for a while. Since I am finishing everything now, I might not have anything done for the next couple of months. We'll see. -
This is looking great. The white looks stunning, and the front bumper is great. The crane looks wild, and I look forward to seeing it in action.

It seems like all of my MOCs are being finished during the month of March. I present a Large Scale version of the Kalmar 180-9 forklift. I started this MOC last July, and after completing a number of other distractions, it's done. I'm please with the result. All pictures may be found on Flickr. The MOC features: Dual Stage Lift, PF L Forklift Tilt, PF M Steering, PF Servo Drive, PF XL Opening Doors Removable bodywork The lift is able to move three AA PF battery boxes (~600grams) to the height of 39 studs. Much more at thirdwigg.com. Photo Photo 2 Lift Chassis Open Enjoy, and happy building.

It's been a busy start of the year in Thirdwiggville, with the two and a half TC9 builds, the 911, and now this, and it's only the first week of March. Granted, this has been on The Queue for a couple of months, but either way the productions is making me feel pretty good. This is a small scale MOC of the K-Tec 1233 Scraper. More can be found about the machine here, and where I learned about the machine here. Features: Steering 6x6 drive 2 cylinder fake engine full suspension lifting scraper opening dirt gate moving extractor plate Enjoy Front Suspension Trailer

Thirdwigg's MOCs
Thirdwigg replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've been building a lot already this year, and I'll have a couple more MOCs posted in the coming weeks. After the TC9 contest, I was playing around with my Snowblower, and this happened. It's not quite worth another thread, but it was a fun little 20 minute project. It has all the same attachment points on the front and rear, with 9 stud longer rear, and 6 stud longer wheelbase. Enjoy. -

I'm not surprised by the 1166 parts. My little Snowblower had 860. My TGS had 993. -
[MOC] ICARUS Supercar
Thirdwigg replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very well done. The white looks stunning. The lines are great, and the use of the panels in many orientations turned our great. I love the 4L Motor drivetrain; very clever.- 220 replies

[MOC][WIP] Porsche 911
Thirdwigg replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I tried a couple of options. none were perfect, but this seemed to work OK. Each 911 generation has a little different headlight, so once I settled on this design, that's when I decided I was making a 964. Panel's 21 and 22 were an option I tried, but I could not figure out how to best orient them. Each attempt left some unsightly gaps.- 29 replies

Agreed. I just can't seem to part with the sticker on it which cleaning might damage. I need to get over that, and clean it.- 29 replies

I agree with you about the fenders. I think I found a better solution, but it's still not perfect. Thanks all for the feedback. The MOC is done, and I'll post it prior to the weekend.- 29 replies

[MOC][WIP] Porsche 911
Thirdwigg replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm pretty close to being done. I'll work a little more on the interior and engine details, and I'll replace a couple of parts with the correct color. I also need to clean up those rear fenders. Thanks for the feedback on the hood. I like how it turned out. The roof could use a little more curve, but I feel better about the compromise I made. More feedback is welcome. WIP 8- 29 replies

[MOC][WIP] Porsche 911
Thirdwigg replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I needed a break from the hood, so last night I worked on the rear bumper, tailgate, and roof. I have made some improvements that I like. There are some color issues I'll resolve. I'm not sure if I like the new roof. It's built on flexible hoses, which make a nice curve, but there is very little support. We'll see what I settle on. WIP 7- 29 replies
