  1. Yeah, that's still an option for me. Then the size becomes close to the the Deere Scout: Which may work, but it may be a little bigger than I want. I'll try it out, and post in my next update.
  2. I love these Eurobricks contests, and these ones that focus on smaller builds are my favorite. So I'm in for another one. This contest, like TC22, is one where the research phase is super fun for me. I love going back through years of Technic sets on Bricklink to generate some ideas. For all the time we complain about new LEGO sets, and how they do not meet our expectations for whatever reason, I find myself getting excited about many of the sets that have been released as I look through all these ones that have been released. For all our negativity, there have been some great sets that have been released over the years. None of them are perfect (OK, there are a couple. Can you guess which ones I think?), but with some hindsight, many are really good. I looked at set 42077 as a good option as it has great coloring, and some fun features that can be added into the 15 wide car size. Also, I have a front/all wheel hybrid drive idea that I want to try out, but I'm going to wait on that for a little bit longer. I also looked at 42024, but I was only interested in using tires no smaller than 43mm, and I felt this was not enough of at reduction in size to make it interesting. Finally, 42006 has some great opportunity, particularly with the new grabber claws, but this will be for another day. In the end I decided on Set 8063 released in 2009 which was just as I was coming out of my dark age. Source Bricklink.com. It's a larger set with some functions that can be recreated well at a smaller scale. I find the tractor a little unattractive as the front over hang is a little long for my eyes, and I have a love/hate relationship with flex axles. But the colors are good, it has a trailer, steering and an engine. And it's a tractor, so it gets some extra points for me. Also, the PTO is an interesting feature as well, so I'll try to keep this features. I may try to add a tedder for the PTO like included in Set 8284 as it seems the tractor is basically the same at 8063. I played a little bit with the scale first. I first tried a draft at 86% of 8063 to use 81mm and 68mm tires. It didn't seem small enough, and it's basically the same as the Thirdwigg Farm scale, which one might say I have taken too far all ready. Let's try smaller! OK, so dropping it another scale down results in below. Scaling down to 72% of 8063 results in the tire size of 68mm and 56mm for the tractor and 44mm for the trailer. This looked a little better. I built a little mockup of 8063 to help me out, and you can see the two other drafts above. I feel good about this scale and set decision, so we'll see where this goes now.
  3. Ambitious project, and good work so far. The two stage boom will be cool to see when done.
  4. I really do love those tires. I hope this project goes well, and like @Jundis I am interested to see how you approach the challenge of Small LAs for the mechanism.
  5. Cool idea, and I love the gear shifter!
  6. Great work already, and I like the set you have chosen. But I think you have to do some collective control or something for the main rotor. Maybe switch to four rotor blades. This would keep the feel of the set still and allow for a simpler and smaller design.
  7. Good set choice, and a good start so far. Looking forward to the rest of the project. Doing each of the attachments would be cool.
  8. Great idea, and sounds like fun. Will you clarify “existing LEGO Technic set?” Does this mean any Technic set in history, or something more recent?
  9. Great job on this. I love the color choice, and the functions are well thought out and executed. Were you able to bring it to Brickworld this year?
  10. What a great project, and thanks for all the updates. The body is starting to take shape, and I love what I see here. The blue and white are perfect, and the long horizontal line is so smooth. Keep it up, and I can't wait to see the final result.
  11. Great job with this build, and I love the wheel and tire selection. The rear overhang looks a little long to my eye, but the rear fenders and rear deck look perfect, so it might be worth it. Well done.
  12. Very cool, and long live the wagon! Another great creation, so well done again.
  13. Agreed. The rest of the set is so so for me.
  14. Also the wheels are new in red now too. Finally, we will be able to make all those mid scale Claas tractors!
  15. Thanks, and I'm glad you like it. Yeah, I tend to like the normal cars a bit too; basically any three box design with four doors. Other people can have their Bugattis, I'll take a sedan any day.
  16. Thanks, a little tinkering sometimes results in some fun little parts. Alright, the third and final version is ready: the Cup Car! These early BMWs always make me think of inexpensive, little, race cars, so a cup car version was always part of the plan for this project. Again, you may find free instructions at Rebrickable.com. The Cup Car model features: Steering with HOG Rear wheel drive I-6 engine Two opening doors Opening hood/bonnet Opening truck/boot Roll cage Sorry about the missing part. And here they are all together. I hope you all enjoyed this little project!
  17. Great job again @damjan97PL. The cab is stunning, and the rest of the build is well designed. I love the gentle color transition between the red and the white on the tank.
  18. Another fun little alt built. Keep it up!
  19. Thanks! Generally, they are the same, but slight changes are present depending on the engine (I6, V8), and the Cup Car is just a little shorter. Thanks, I have a couple more steps to finish, but the Cup Car will be posted today. Thanks again!
  20. Thanks @jorgeopesi Ooo, I'd love to see this built with suspension, so let me know what you come up with. Thanks again, and let me know how you like the build. OK, I have the sedan ready and posted. The sedan is similar to the Touring model, and you can find free instructions at rebrickable.com. The Sedan model features: Steering with HOG Rear wheel drive V-8 engine swap Four opening doors Opening hood/bonnet Opening truck/boot With everything open. The cup car will be done tomorrow, so stay tuned. I hope you all enjoy.
  21. Time for another little MOC, and this little BMW E30 3 series is ready to roll. Free instructions are available at rebrickable.com. The Touring model features: Steering with HOG Rear wheel drive I-6 engine Four opening doors Opening hood/bonnet Opening truck/boot Lime! An I-6, but only 5 pistons move. And a little video if it's helpful. Enjoy!
  22. Very creative build. I like the open(ish) cockpit design.
  23. Very cute, and the smaller builds are just what I like. Well done.
  24. Thanks @Jim and @Milan for another great contest. Your work around these parts does not go unnoticed. I (we?) are grateful for all you do. There are many unhealthy pockets of the internet, so you should be proud of your participation and support of a space that is positive and creative. Thanks to all who participated in this contest. It was a tricky one, so each of you who submitted one should be proud. Congratulation to @JoKo and @Agent 00381 on your podium spots. They are well deserved, and goodness were the final points for the top three close. Well done to both of you. Thanks to all of you who voted. You make these contests a lot of fun, and help make Eurobricks a supportive place. I look forward to the next contest.
