  1. Has somebody reviewed the Daily Bugle set yet? I've looked but turned up nothing.
  2. The glut of projects is drying up. While the current review poses some difficult questions (specifically Portal and UCS Sandcrawler) the next batch is relatively straight forward: PP (reject - too niche), Space Marines (reject - conflict theme/theme-project). What sets are you referring to? Why do you say it was not "quite built in standard Lego format"? Does it use special non-Lego pieces ? If not, then it's in Lego format.
  3. Hypothetical scenario: if Lone Ranger sets sell beyond expectations (possible as all the sets look intriguing) would TLG/CuuSoo reconsider MWT?
  4. At least another 18 months, if not more.
  5. Well, all the cash not spent on Monster Fighters in 2013 is going to Lone Ranger.
  6. Yep. This summarizes cuusoo perfectly. It would be a PR disaster if they place limitations on who can vote. In fact, I doubt very much they will ever increase the threshold of votes mandating review, because this lets them retain the "it's too niche" veto in a credible way.
  7. Very novel design. Thanks for sharing.
  8. A colleague of mine previously acted as the attorney for TLG -- the precise language used in the license agreement is that the minifigs must be "ancillary and proportionate to" construction models.
  9. I was hoping to see more SNOTing in the Sail Barge model, but I can understand the figures over model approach TLG has elected. As for a new AT-AT, I have little interest in this model unless it is UCS. Your statement is quite misleading -- aside from the fact it contains an exclusive minifig, many Hoth diorama enthusiasts will welcome the additional Rebel/Snow Troopers (especially since the Battle packs are discontinued). Moreover the trenches are new and so is the cannon. IOW there is sufficient new content. The set is clearly made to be used in conjunction with 7666 -- and let's not forget the rather wasteful yellow "cranes" contained in that set.
  10. Truly, truly, truly outrageous!
  11. Thanks for the review. I'm a sucker for Hoth sets, unfortunately.
  12. I guarantee you that the license was not the issue at stake -- from a PR perspective Cuusoo would retain far more credibility if they said: "sorry Nintendo wouldn't let us use its intellectual property -- but at least we tried!!!!!"
  13. @Rufus- my apologies, man. Returning on topic, does anybody get the impression that Cuusoo projects will be limited to one per review period? It seems that way given how they went out their way to give some convoluted rejection reasons. M Looking ahead, the next review it will be Mars SLCR - and then maybe Exo Suit which I'm vaguely interested in. But the future kinda looks bleak, doesn't it? not sure why they are still continuing to allow votes for the second Zelda project.
  14. Don't doubt Hobbit will do better. But how much better is the question.
  15. Let's see how Django Unchained does vs The Hobbit.
  16. Anybody wonder why Luke's house hasn't been mate into a set?
  17. I doubt very much from a IP law perspective, the 1% will be interpreted as an ownership right of the design (or otherwise). It will be drafted as a contingency service fee. I'm 100% certain of this.
  18. It's clearly stated that Cuusoo will make changes to a project to make it more economically feasible. If wouldn't take much to change the Cuusoo Sandcrawler -- remove the lighting and innards -- it can easily be reduced to a 3K piece project. Other than that: - no licensing issues - iconic model - if it includes minifigs, they're all currently available. | You are the one who fails to see the point, I'm afraid: beautifully designed sets will always sell no matter the subject matter. Puh-leaze. Are you telling me that MWT would be less popular than Eve Online and its 400k worldwide subscribers? You have absolutely no evidence back up your claims apart from an irrational hatred of Westerns.
  19. New molds needed for: 1. Companion Cube 2. Turrets 3. Whalley 4. Chell's gun. 5. Possibly some parts of GLADOS. The bigger issue is that Valve don't like others making money off their ips where they're not making > 75 per cent of it.. I'm well aware of Portal's appeal but bet you more people played Eve Online this year, than they did Portal.
  20. I'm devastated the WMT was denied. I don't think I'll bother to vote on Cuusoo again. The whole process, decision-making and criteria is just bogged in bureaucracy. I'm actually thinking of submitting a Lego Cuusoo project based on Lego Cuusoo -- two accountants named Buttle and Tuttle sitting in a plain ordinary office counting beans. Seriously though, if being "niche" is a criticism, why don't they just raise the vote threshold again. Maybe this thread title should be changed to " Cuusoo -- A slim chance to turn your model wishes into reality" Portal = No chance. Zelda has 25 years of history. Portal is barely known outside of the gaming internet community. The molds for Portal will be just as expensive as Zelda (if not more).
  21. Finally bought my first Modular -- Fire Station. Which should I get next? Pet Shop? Grand Emporium?
  22. I never could understand TLG's compulsion to add speeder bikes in scenes that are foreign to them -- on Tatooine, on multiple Hoth sets, I just don't get it
  23. On a related note, what is the consensus here, whether 10144 is part of the UCS series?
  24. Two: 1. TLG Edition 2. The Bricklink Edition.
