  1. Hope Chikilis reprises his role as Ben Grimm and don't use CG for 'The Thing". They can change the rest.
  2. I understand the Dark Bucket licensing situation. What Faefrost and I are saying is that projects should be reviewed individual when they reach 10K votes, because CUUSOO obviously has problems reviewing multiple projects en masse. I only raised the Dark Bucket situation, because it shows this is possible. Short-term renewable licenses with very few termination rights for the licensee is the norm for Nintendo based toy lines. There's no way TLG would be interested in such a deal, outside of fulfilling the Cuusoo project "obligations".
  3. Long-term license and Nintendo IPs is almost an oxymoron. Where it does license its IPs, they are usually narrowly defined.
  4. Cuusoo clearly it state that they can modify a successful project to make it more marketable. The Cuusoo Sandcrawler is ~5K pieces which includes detailed and functional interiors and lights. It's wouldn't take much to reduce it to a 3,000 piece project without changing the overall exterior design by much. Therefore, I think there's a fairly good chance it will be made. My advice is not to sell the original one. It will retain its current value (and possibly even higher) up until a month or two before the new is released. Not all Lego consumers have perfect information about upcoming projects.
  5. Out of curiosity, who does Nintendo have a partnership with?? Kre-o? But for the fact Cuusoo is somewhat of a Japanese company, I would have said there is zero chance that Nintendo would licence its IP to TLG.
  6. You may be correct, but "seemed narrower" doesn't strike me as a particularly conclusive statement, particularly if he didn't have 6210 directly in front of him (or her) for a comparison. However, 75020 may be "narrower and less round" with the intention of appearing longer. It may even incorporate a secondary interior deck (something else I thought was missing from 6210) You'll need to fill me in regarding the proportions of the AT-RT as I don't pay close attention to most of the the NT/CW stuff. Long overdue. But the most logical guess for the next UCS model would be the Sandcrawler.
  7. My best guess is Nintendo. I once had the displeasure of having Nintendo as a client -- they like to do things a certain way. That certain way involves them mulling and deeply contemplating and mulling some more, over most of their business decisions. In any case, the process is so drawn out that Cuusoo seriously needs to have a fundamental rethink on how they conduct their reviews. Hey Cuusoo, here's a novel idea: why not review something as soon as it reaches 10,000 votes like you did with Dark Bucket???
  8. Have to say: the delay of review results is bordering on the ridiculous.
  9. That's exactly what I meant. Current Desert Skiff is 9" long. Old Jabba's Sail Barge is 18" long. (Old Skiff was 8" and looked grossly out of proportion). So new Sail Barge should be at least 20" if the same proportion is maintained, but ideally at least 22" long.
  10. That's not good. I still think this may be an 1000+ piece set. My reasoning is as follows: Old Jabba Sail Barge was 781 pieces but included Desert Skiff (53 pieces) plus Sarlacc (~20 pieces) so the net piece count was around 700 pieces New Desert Skiff + Sarlacc is considerably larger 213, which should put the Sail Barge at least 1000 pieces. Does anybody agree with my math?
  11. Well to be fair, the Rancor Pit in the film is just a room (two rooms actually). TLG could have used an infinite amount of bricks recreate it verbatim or focus on great minifigs. The latter is obviously the better option.
  12. This is crying out to be MOC'd into a larger Rancor Pit. Thanks for the great review. Looks like an amazing set.
  13. What is the leaked info and what is the source? Given the effort TLG went to upgrading Jabba's Palace and the amazing looking Rancor set, it wouldn't make much sense to go "halfway" on the Sail Barge. I sincerely hope it's considerably better than 6210. Otherwise I may be tempted to take a stab at the 7K piece version some Eurobricker designed (and I say this half serious).
  14. Honestly, the Portal project is 100% fan service. If you take away the humor and puzzles from Portal what do you have left?
  15. Barnes and Noble. And their shipping rates to Oz are ridiculously low.
  16. Just for fun, here are my CUUSOO predictions -- Eve Online Drifter- yes, without knowing anything about Eve Online The Legend of Zelda - no based on a feeling. I could be wrong. DeLorean/BTTF -- yes. But it will just the DeLorean and nothing else. Western Modular Town -- my heart says yes, and i'll be devastated with any other outcome UCS Sandcrawler -- yes, but modified to a 3K piece model (with most of its innards and lighting removed) Portal - I'm a huge Portal but I do not feel compelled to buy this product. Also Valve is pretty tight with licensing their IP in circumstances they're totally not in control. So no to this. Mars Science Curiosity Laboratory Explorer -- 100% sure this will be yes. Space Marines -- No because of potential conflict with Galaxy Squad. Some of the ideas may be incorporated in to that theme, though. Purdue Pete -- No. Because.
  17. trenches need lots of pieces to be done properly so I'm prepared to overlook that. 7879 redeemed itself because it contained 4 new minifigs (new Solo, Leia w/ kiss face, Bacta Luke, and Medical android.) And the Medical Bay was both new and accurate, and very iconic to the fim. My major gripe against this set is that it doesn't aspire to recreate anything unique or remarkable from the battte of hoth. Even if threw in a AT-ST or something similar to give it a more unique feel. Anyway just my toughts.
  18. License conflict was raised when it reached 5K but CUUSOO failed to address the issue until it reached 10K and it never reached the review stage.
  19. I'm pretty cool too.
  20. Voted for the Clipper too. My reasons is that it succeeds more at what it's trying to achieve. Whereas the Imperial Flagship......looks nothing like an Imperial Flagship.
  21. I definitely wasnt citing it as an argument. More as a criticism of the process and how CUUSOO is oblivious to such flaws in the system and prolonging the whole process. I mean, they canned the Dark Bucket project before it reached 10K votes, thus the competing Zelda and BTTF projects should be canned too.
  22. 3 things I hate about the new Hoth Set that nobody has mentioned. (1) Horrible depiction of the trenches. (2) Rieekan never engaged in any outdoor battle scenes nor was he ever shown with an assault rifle. He feels more out of place than Ackbar in the A-Wing set (3) The Rebel Snowtrooper with the biker moustache isn't in it. Seriously, I didn't think TLG coud have produced a Hoth set worse than 7879. How wrong I was.
  23. As much as I'm interested in seeing a definitive AT-AT set, I have to asked the question again, why no Ion Cannon? Why no Shield Generator? Why TLG?
  24. Picked one up today for $290. Unfortunately won't get a crack at it for another month.
  25. Faefrost mostly... That said, the commercial reality of acquiring a licence may dictate a theme . License/royalty arrangements are typically lump sum-payments for a specified period of time. So for TLG to acquire high-value licenses, it may need to produce a range of sets for it be viable. On a completely unrelated note, does anybody know how to contact project owners on CUUSOO. I want to create this project which will never reach 10K, not even in a 10K years (unfortunately). Alternatively, if the project owner is a Eurobricker or an acquaintance of one, please let me know. Thank you
