  1. I respectfully disagree in your assessment of this on the following grounds: 1. Potential "expert level"build already limits market. 2. I don't think we'll ever see a CuuSoo project of this magnitude because it involves significant risk (as implied by the UCS Sandcrawler decision). 10K anonymous votes is not sufficient due diligence for a project this size. 3. Given the added shipping weight (>3.1kg unboxed) it will be at least $400. (It's twice as big as 41999 and also contains RC functionality). 4. If you're going to reject the UCS Tumbler on the basis of an existing license, then you have to reject this as well. I don't agree that this is a reason for rejection because Land Rover (or DC's) views on using their licence are likely to be drastically different from Star Wars (especially when you consider what Disney paid for it).
  2. Hopefully this convinces them to expedite their decision-making process.
  3. I read on another forum that it made the deadline with just 5 minutes to spare.
  4. Road to Oz reaches 10K, but whether it made the deadline is anybody's guess.
  5. it's not exactly going to stretch their resources if they produce say a Ghostbusters set along with the female minifig set in one period. It can be justified economically on the basis that it aims at different demographics.
  6. No, it's not possible. 1. CuuSoo are going to kill the project any day now. Because it's passed 5K votes already it will be already earmarked. 2. What you are suggesting is dishonest to the extent that the user and project will get permanently banned.
  7. Yep. There's no way he'll get 5K that quickly. That said, the other aspects of the JP project were very highly polished. The creator will get some advertisement "flow through" from JP until it gets pulled. Then it will be on its own.
  8. In anticipation of CuuSoo killing the Jurassic Park project for the aforementioned reasons, the creator has listed the T-Rex as a separate project under the guise of Bricksauria.
  9. Especially when the inevitable F4 set eventually makes its way to the shelves.
  10. I agree with your asssement -- the only hope for Macross is if it receives a "push" because it is Japanese. Also, Apollo 11 is a great project that i feel will benefit greatly when it is polished by a TLG designer.
  11. I predict next review period will be a face off between: - Macross - Road to Oz - Jurassic Park - BttF Jules Verne Train.
  12. Can't say i'm excited about MCR . The Road to Oz up to 8650 with 3 days to go. Surely it can't make it, right?
  13. I think the problem with Moe's Tavern is that alcoholism is a recurring theme in the Simpsons. In all the cases you cite alcohol and warfare is incidental to the setting. Whereas in the Simpsons alcohol abuse is a running gag directed exclusively to the adult demographic, mostly centered around Moe's. Barney's character was seen at Moe's only sipping lattes in later seasons, which i guess is how he would be portrayed in a Lego set. However, the bigger issue is if and how they would portray Duff beer, which unlike wine is more prone to abuse by adolescents.
  14. Wow both those sets are going for stupid $$$ on Bricklink/eBay, especially Shipwreck Hideout.
  15. I think i'm in love with the eyepatch pirate chick. What set does she appear in?
  16. Well, TLG's policy is that alcohol in a historic context is ok. That said, "cartoon alcohol" probably falls under a similar exception to why green army men are allowed whereas modern warfare soldiers are not.
  17. The word is that a live action Robotech film is more likely to happen than not.
  18. As many posters have pointed out in this thread, it was only seen in passing. It's clear it was made into a set for variety --- turns out that it may be the best value set of 2013.
  19. Will buy to support the Pirates theme.......and to scratch that itch. Anyhow, the set reminds of this:
  20. It actually looks like it's quite a sturdy case.
  21. Harmony Gold couldn't licence the VF-1 in the U.S. because the model was licensed as "Jetfire" in the Transformers range. I don't think Hasbro have released a "Jetfire" in their G1 re-releases.
  22. A colleague of mine, who is an IP attorney opinioned that the Macross set may not violate the Hasbro license because it is a construction toy. She also said it's possible that the licensing of the VF-1 Valkyrie transformable model by Hasbro may have expired (as unlike all the other Transformers IP it was not created by Hasbro).
  23. Second Ghostbuster's project is 120 votes short of 10K. Hopefully, Macross project doesn't make the review period (currently 9,225) because it has no hope in this bunch (It's probably DOA anyway, but at least i can dream about it for another 6 months). Wizard of Oz (almost 8,000) is the early favorite to win the December 2013 Review period.
  24. Not my intention to play moderator, but the sooner this thread gets locked, the better. People posting her videos on this forum is just exacerbating her detrimental effect on the Lego Internet Community.
  25. Not sure why people keep voting for the second Ghostbusters project? (this is a rhetorical question btw) Anyway, i have a feeling two projects will produced from this review period. If Wizard of Oz (now 7500+ votes) had an extra week, it probably would have made this period more congested than it is.
