BMW S1000/RR
therealjustin replied to steph77's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very nice; great proportions! After trying many times to add a working gearbox to my own superbike, I am still baffled by it. Not enough room and not enough brain power I guess. I'll have to try it with the orange selector gear sometime.- 36 replies

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
therealjustin replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I tried doing a comparison using those exact images but realized that the perspective of the side view of the actual car is off, making the front overhang appear shorter than it really is. -
Thanks for posting the full reveal. The "official" stream was very short for some reason. It must have been a really great experience no doubt, but I would have been quite anxious having to speed build in front of that many people while being streamed live. The set isn't perfect but I do think it ticks most of the boxes that it needed to. The stickers though...

If you look at the die-cast car world, Bugatti replicas usually carry a premium. A normal AUTOart model car is around $150-$180 US, however their Veyrons and upcoming Chirons are close to $300. Even with the low end Bburago there is a 15% increase for the Bugatti license. -

The LEGO Group originated this mass leak by not only shipping the product to stores but allowing them to be sold. I'm excited for the reviews, the various mods that improve it, and MOC's built using the new pieces. That is all that matters. This cat was well out of the bag by what is the internet equivalent of a years' time and I imagine LEGO are quite miffed indeed. The sets should have been shipped to stores a week after the unveiling, simple as that. Back on topic, I must say that I love the inclusion of the key feature. A very nice touch. -

I managed to save the video, uploaded to Singapore Technic on FB I'm very impressed with this set, and that is something I could not say about the Porsche after the first reveal video. The Chiron is quite something. -

And working rear spoiler / air brake. We know it moves, just not sure how yet Actually, looking at the 1:1 key that is included I wonder if that gets inserted somewhere and turning it raises and lowers the rear spoiler. Hmm... -

Ugh, stickers. I know many of us droned on about this when the Porsche was released but come on! A $350+ set with hardly any printed pieces? At the very least the front Bugatti and rear EB badges should be printed, as well as the door trim pieces that complete the "C" shape. Very disappointing to say the least. Things like gauges, dash elements and door handles I can understand though. If I were Bugatti I would have demanded a printed logo to make sure my brand were a permanent fixture in LEGO. -

For some reason I had just assumed the rims were black with silver printing this entire time, but it seems that they are actually dark blue. A nice touch -

Liking what I see so far. The color vomit is really not needed and looks atrocious, but it is expected since LEGO has embraced the build-by-baby-steps method. "In my days LEGO Technic sets were a challenge!" It will be a shame if no AWD as that is a crucial part as to why the Chiron is so quick off the line. That would be a much larger omission than not having four wheel steering like with 42056. -

I am very happy with how this turned out. From what I can see, I say job well done to Aurelien on capturing the difficult curves and lines of the Chiron. We must also remember that we are looking at a rather poor photo of the box of this set. The flex tubing used in the interior is meant to represent the "C" shape of the actual Chiron's cockpit. -

The photo has certainly been posted in black and white to hide the blue. Disc brakes indeed, wow! Please don't be awesome...please don't be awesome... $400 is my LEGO budget for an entire year and then some but I'm very excited for this -

I'm okay with reasonable gaps. The open gaps on certain areas of the Porsche are not reasonable in my opinion, such as the ones under the headlights, for how much that set costs. The same can also be said though about Technic models that try to fill in every possible negative space with panels or connectors; it can look just as bad. There needs to be a balance. -

It was great before, and somehow you've managed to make it look even better. I really want to build this and put it on display, especially since I currently do not have any aircraft or rotorcraft in my collection. Well done!

Incredibly well done! I agree, this is everything a Technic helicopter can and should be. I would proudly display this on my shelf...after playing with the functions of course
