  1. Great idea to do a cross section for this category! And not only that, you did it with such skill! So many great details, both inside and out
  2. Nice build! You've got a great mix of colours and overall shape here, and I like the cockpit! Who knows, maybe in the future two black sticks are the best way to fly a ship
  3. Awesome ship! Great shaping, nice colours, and good job on the landing gear
  4. I've seen some great greebling before, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a ship made entirely out of greebles - great job! One minor suggestion - did you intend the lighting to be so blue?
  5. As everyone has said, great use of the bionicle parts. I always think they look perfect for sci-fi builds but I can never seem to integrate them properly, whereas you've pulled it perfectly The overall shape is fantastic too!
  6. Great job on this! It's small, but perfectly formed, with loads of detail!
  7. Whoa, that's one big missile! Nice build!
  8. I rebuild the walls and floor from scratch every time EDIT: I should have said that I wasn't meaning to criticise your criticism - you made a perfectly good point that would improve my builds. It's just that I'm going to ignore it and I wanted to explain that it isn't because I don't value your advice. Hope that makes sense
  9. Thanks everyone! Thanks for the feedback! It's not so much a lab style as a M.A.N.T.I.S. style - that's just how M.A.N.T.I.S. builds all its doors, or my version of M.A.N.T.I.S. anyway I like to keep my little part of this universe internally consistent when I can - eventually I may start losing points for reusing things like the doors and the aircon and the small lab equipment over and over, but the consistency is much more important to me Plus, that style of door is a good way to fit a nice bit of olive green in, which is difficult otherwise with my limited parts in that colour
  10. A perfectly executed and presented build, with a great story as usual! The view of the planet out of the window is so atmospheric!
  11. Awesome mech robuko, and that's quite some flag! You took your Lego with you on your travels? That's what I call dedication
  12. Great build! It's good to see everyone chilling out, and not a scorpion in sight! Just one minor suggestion: in the first photo I'd have been tempted to crop out that bit of beige in the top left hand corner. You'd only lose that tiny bit of rock in the bottom right that isn't clearly visible anyway
  13. Location: D03 Tags: Science, Civil. Tough week, friend? Tough month more like. I’ve been taken prisoner, tortured, given an impossible assignment, and nearly frozen to death. I’m gonna need a beer. Coming right up. Good. My research hasn’t exactly been going well recently either. Here’s your beer. You’re a scientist then? I had you figured for a pilot with that jumpsuit you’re wearing. Yeah, I used to be a pilot, once upon a time. It’s a long story… That was a long story. Here, have this one on the house. It’s this week’s experimental cocktail. Experimental? Yeah, each week I invent a new cocktail and- But you call them ‘experimental’? And people drink them? Yes, but- I’ll be right back! And just a little bit of these… I’m still not sure about this, it seems a bit- Trust me, I’m a scientist! Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Date: 25 Julali 3815. Experiment Code: B9D03. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Location: MANTIS Supply Ship, Bar 9: ‘The Red Spider’. Terrial Major orbit. Aim: Test the effects of alcohol as an enhancement delivery medium. Excerpt ends. Here you are friends, experimental cocktails on the house. Enjoy… Now, I just want to emphasise that this cocktail is experimental and by drinking it you agree to waive all rights in the case of sickness, injury or death. Drink up! Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Method: Awesomnium enhanced larvae and awesomnium serum will be mixed with alcohol and consumed by willing volunteers. Prediction: Volunteers will gain enhanced physical abilities. Excerpt ends. And now we wait… Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Results: Volunteers became extremely aggressive on drinking the cocktail and showed reduced cognitive abilities along with changes in eye colouration. Conclusions: This line of research may be worth pursuing in more controlled conditions. Excerpt ends. Thanks for reading! C&C welcome!
  14. Yay, Insectoids! Great build and story - I love that you managed to sneak in a scorpion
  15. Nice build and story! The lamp using the SNOT bracket is really great detail!
  16. Nice conclusion to your great story! The bomber is awesome!
  17. Great build, and nice work choosing the angles for your pics
  18. First of all, if the judges want more time for judging then I'm very happy for the week to be made longer - they're doing an admirable and probably very time-consuming job on top of the building that the rest of us are doing, so if they want some more time to take the pressure off, that's fine by me! I'm sure it would be fine by everyone else too, so I'd urge the judges to make it known if that's the case (or if it ever becomes the case). A 14 day week is initially appealing to me, as I'm one of those who hates to miss out a week. You can already see that this feeling is a bit stronger in M.A.N.T.I.S. because we're smaller and under more pressure currently. But ultimately it really is no big deal to miss out a week - as others have said, some of us just need to be a little less competitive if we can And I can see a longer week introducing its own pressure to make builds really good, and increased disappointment if the build you spent 14 days on only gets a low score. So I haven't voted yet - I'll keep thinking it over and reading everyone's thoughts.
  19. Please transfer 53 credits to SpacerSteve. Thanks!
  20. Sounds like a good idea to me, especially since it might encourage more alien players
  21. Thanks so much everyone! Glad you liked the snow effects. I know some people don't like the big shaped baseplates, but I started on this build and it was just sat there on top of my pile of baseplates, all like: "Oh, I see you're doing a build on a cold planet. You might even call it an ice planet. Y'know, like that theme I'm from. You'll probably need to build a lot of rocks to hide that ice core. Just saying. I wonder if I'll ever get used for a MOC..." And how could I resist? It's just so beautiful
  22. Just thought I'd share the street of 16x16 Friends shop modulars I made for the Yorkshire Brick Show 2015 back in May. I'm not the first person to do this sort of thing (see here, here, and here for better examples) but it seemed to be appreciated by the public at the show More pics and description on Flickr. C&C welcome!
  23. Great speeders!
  24. Man, I don't know how you have the patience to build these huge, dynamic builds in LDD. Even making a small model drives me crazy, especially when you have to start using the hinge tool. So kudos on another awesome build!
  25. Great action shots! I'm impressed you managed to fit all that action in such a small space!
