  1. I have used the tape in the past but I felt like I was always making constant repairs to the connection between two pieces of track. While it worked it wasn't reliable.
  2. If you are planning to make anything 9V related, take my money! Looking forward to whatever you have planned -RailCo
  3. We can all hope that they release another one! They seemed to have done that for the past two "cycles" of trains that have come out 2011 and 2015 -RailCo
  4. I love the detail for the small scale. You really captured the back design very well! -RailCo
  5. Thank you for the constructive feedback and kind comments. I made the choice of the round 1x1 plates to give the look of a rounded circle that these butterflies have in real life, that is just my preference, but I went back and forth between the two styles. I never noticed that dragonflies' wings were offset, I'll have to look at that and maybe make an edit in the future. Thank you for your comments! I was quite excited when I realized that the hair were a very close shape to the dragonflies' eye shape. No Lego piece is that exact shape I was looking for but the hair was a pretty close fit.
  6. Hello, I have been working for awhile on my latest MOC, it's different from my usual MOCs and I am happy to present it to everyone here. [MOC] Lego Insects: A Ladybug, Butterfly, & Dragonfly by Rail Co, on Flickr The Butterfly: The butterfly was one of the most challenging but interesting builds to design. The key factors that make this model special is the ability to move and alter the wings however one pleases. The wings are built using mainly standard bricks and plates, bringing back a simple and nostalgic building experience from the childhood of many. However, there are a few SNOT building techniques. The bottom of the wings use the "headlight" bricks to invert the orientation of the studs allowing me to add the ability to have the bottom curve of the butterfly's wings. There are also studs on the side construction to achieve the curved sides of the wings as well. [MOC] Lego Insects: A Ladybug, Butterfly, & Dragonfly by Rail Co, on Flickr The Ladybug: The Ladybug is what inspired this whole project. The ladybug is small but has a lot of interesting and fun building techniques to get the shape of the ladybug just perfect. Using studs on the side construction as well as the "bracket" pieces make the ladybug slightly more round giving it a more realistic design than other techniques that were tried. The bottom is smoothed out using a mix of headlight bricks, plates, and even 1x1 round plates with a hole in the center! These actually connect to the center tube of the 1x2 brick giving another connection point to make the model more sturdy and makes building the model more engaging, as well as giving others building ideas for their own models. [MOC] Lego Insects: A Ladybug, Butterfly, & Dragonfly by Rail Co, on Flickr The Dragonfly: The dragonfly is the most simple model of the three, however, it still has some tricks up its sleeve. Dragonflies are a very thin and light. The model accurately represents a Dragonfly. The main interesting aspects of the model is the simpleness. After building the first 2 complex insects with small pieces and quirky techniques. This model gives the builder some room to breathe and is composed of simple construction. The most interesting part of the dragonfly for me personally is how I was able to us black minifigure hair to be the eyes of dragonfly. I tried many pieces but nothing ever looked right until I stumbled upon the minifigure hair. This is what makes the dragonfly stand out and still engages the builder with every building step. [MOC] Lego Insects: A Ladybug, Butterfly, & Dragonfly by Rail Co, on Flickr As of now my model is only digital but I hope to start accumulating the parts to build it sometimes within this year. I hope you enjoyed looking at my creation, if you feel so inclined I would love for your support on LEGO Ideas here: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/d94ec0ee-9bee-4757-953f-ba39e85f81c2 Thank you all for looking! -RailCo
  7. I would love to see some new "Light and Sound" system stuff added to Lego city. Great for the kiddos and depending on the lights and how they are wired up, they might have a new smaller battery box or small lights like the classic 80s did. -RailCo
  8. Wow you never fail to impress LT12V! I love the detail of all your locomotives and I seem to learn something new with every train you build and post. I am assuming that the window pieces have stickers on them to add that white trim detail, if I am wrong please explain how you did that! Always love to see your builds! -RailCo
  9. As I have said previously, I am really interested in the Lego FORMA theme and where it might go. I know that a lot of people don't like it or think "it's the worst thing since Galidor." However, I actually think it isn't even close to Galidor. FORMA is meant to bring in new customers back into Lego or bring adults a small but relaxing build that will help destress. While many of us collectors will say that "Lego already helps adults like us destress!" A lot of adults haven't rediscovered Lego yet and by doing a small aesthetically pleasing kinetic sculpture will bring others back into buying Lego. I personally love the simplicity of it! I think it is something new to tryout and discover. It seems a lot of others think so as well judging by how many perks people have purchased. Anyway, Lego FORMA only has a couple more days left, if you are interested in backing the project I would do it now. It sure will be a collector's item in the future! Here is a link to the campaign: https://igg.me/at/forma/x/16264162 Happy Backing! -RailCo
  10. I noticed that a lot of people in the community either hate it or love it... I love it and here are my reasons for what it's worth: 1. I thought the models were simple but elegant looking, I only bought the base Koi model because I thought the skins were overpriced, however, the model really caught my eye and was something that would be nice to display. I also like how they look to be easily customizable and because I like drawing I could cut out my own skins for them if I choose to. 2. It is something that Lego has never made before and it gives it a sort of unique feel. It is a fresh idea that mixes bricks with skins that can make a model have different curves and lines (not saying that can't be done with bricks). 3. It sounds dumb but it seems as though it is a limited test run to see how the product fairs with buyers. As a collector I enjoy having limited, non-mass production, items. 4. I want to show support for Lego trying new things and taking risks on products that they feel might not work out if they were to just throw them on their website. I think some common misconceptions is that this product is for AFOLs. While it is aimed toward adults, it is not aimed for the avid collector and builder. This product is meant to not only get people back into the hobby of building Lego, it is meant to also allow adults to de-stress from their hectic lives and spend some time off their phones, TVs, and computers. The counter argument to this is that Lego has hundreds of products to allow adults to de-stress and build with already. The reason this seemed to be created however, was to get other adults from a different market to buy these and see that Lego helps them de-stress and be creative (especially with the ink-koi skin). This will allow them to think about making another purchase with Lego whether it be for big technic sets, modular, architecture, or other "adult" lego themes. I have also seen people compare this to Galidor. I think this is an unfair comparison as 1 Galidor figure has about 10-15 giant plastic pieces. One display piece alone has 294 pieces and most of those are Lego elements. Overall, I think that this is a new thing that people will be up an arms about until they see reviews or get it in their hands themselves. Many people were upset about Brickheadz but they took off with flying colors whether they liked them or not. In my opinion if you don't like it, don't buy it. That's the easiest way to tell Lego that you are not interested in that theme and to try something else. Sorry for the long rant -RailCo
  11. They are available in the U.S. for $3 more than the power functions lights at $9.99, $3 extra for a new connector really? https://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Powered-Up-LED-Light-88005 -RailCo
  12. Just in case people have not seen it the trains are listed on the U.S. S@H page the passenger train is $160 USD and the cargo is $230 USD. They both will be released in August which means I have time to gain the funds! -RailCo
  13. Thank you all for your replies, I guess it is true they don't take up a lot of room so for ones I have recently opened I'll see what they value is for them. If the value with the bag is only a few cents more then I will just begin to throw them out once they are opened. Thanks! -RailCo
  14. Hello quick kind of "poll" to see if it is worth after opening a polybag to keep the bag if I later want to resell. I realize that over the years I have been keeping all these empty bags like one would do for boxes but is there any work to holding onto them? Or am I just wasting my time and space. Thanks! -RailCo
  15. I love this redesign, simple but much cleaner and detailed than the original 7898 crane! Keep it up! -RailCo
  16. I like the look of the cargo train. The passenger train is alright on looks for me personally but I'll still probably get it when it gets discounted. What angers me though is that Lego makes you but two expensive train sets to have a full train. They know that trains aren't as popular as they used to, so why make it harder for parents buy trains for their children seeing they have to buy two!? My thoughts, -RailCo
  17. Hello all! I was able to get these early and im selling them on eBay if anyone is interested. You can PM me here if you would like to strike a deal before someone else bids on it! LINK: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NIB-LEGO-41611-Brickheadz-BACK-to-the-FUTURE-Marty-Mcfly-Doc-Brown-IN-HAND/282923117728 Thanks, -RailCo
  18. Has anyone noticed that on S@H they are listed in the U.S. as "Sold out" they have only been officially released for 6 days?! I haven't collected the past few series because of the cost, but this one changed my mind. Does it usually come back into stock? -RailCo
  19. From my experience this SHOULD work. You will need some supports for the vertical cross axle. My only work of caustion is when doing gears like these is that if they aren't supported enough the like to warp or shift in ways that will disengage the two gears so just be mindeful of that. I would wait for a more "expert" opinion before you make any final design descisions! -RailCo
  20. Definitely will be getting the cargo train. I actually like the design of the engine in the set because it isn't something we have seen TLG make in awhile (of this style of train). The passenger train im debating, I'd have to look at the final images and not the preliminary images that were leaked... PF2 looks to be very promising though!
  21. On eBay now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/282855893753?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 If you are outside the U.S. please still PM if interested and we can work out a deal. -RailCo
  22. Hello, I have for sale (1) Lego Limited Edition 60th Anniversary House set. The set is new sealed although the left circle seal is peeling which is apparently a very common problem with the sets. Please PM me with serious offers if you are interested. I am willing to ship internationally but I have never shipped international before so allow me extra days to fill out forms properly. I am also willing to trade this set for the original 326 Cottage set from 1965, but I would let it with instructions and preferably the box. Thanks, -RailCo
  23. I decided to contact Lego myself to see if they would give me thw same answer and this is what they sent me... Lego Customer Service by Rail Co, on Flickr Obviously Lego either has no idea what is going on with this promo, or they are made #xxxx till they felt like stopping. Disappointing to not even know... -RailCo
  24. I don't have access to my 12v motor right now but whenever I can get to it ill send over my data. Cool idea! -RailCo
  25. Well Lego seems to have lied about that... According to this listing they have a number that is greater than 5000. Either the Customer Service center got wrong information or they are trying to give out misinformation because they just made as many copies as they could... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-60th-Anniversary-House-4000028-5143-Sold-Out-Unopened-new-in-box/282841733371?hash=item41daae58fb:g:DDcAAOSwicpae4Qk -RailCo
