  1. Apparently they're taking measures against scalpers by "Order limits of five per customer"... but after demand revised to "All future pre-orders will have a quantity limit of 1. "
  2. Yeah, it's a shame that BrickLink and/or the LEGO Group don't yet understand how to quantify Classic theme production for the market AFOL... through this initiative or otherwise.
  3. UPDATE Round 1 has wrapped up and you read the announcement for full details. But getting back to the important issue: NO Pirate Designs were made available! BrickLink has setup a forum and they're asking for your feedback. So give it to them! Go to the feedback forum and post. Mention you notice LEGO Pirates are missing - tell them you want this rectified for the future… And if you’re feeling productive, you can also reply to the announcement too.
  4. The LEGO Group is releasing some VIP value packs; "40512 Fun and Funky," "40514 Winter Wonderland", and "40513 Spooky". But the one we give two hoots about is: “40515 Pirates and Treasure” - will this be of any use to your MOCing? Further details are available in this Classic Pirates Blog Post.
  5. Humans are highly memetical creatures who constantly interpret concepts, both conscious and unconsciously. But what does this have to do with LEGO Pirate speculation?
  6. There is no redoubt that this is shaping up to be an awesome MOC the second time I saw it.
  7. Would also make a suitable Flame Ship...
  8. It was called the "Build that holiday into THAT holiday!" contest which ran June 12th, 2020 (Submission intake) to June 26th, 2020 (Fan Voting Closes) Sailing Ship Adventure LEGO Ideas Contest Page Which could be turned into a pirate ship...
  9. It looks like a recreational sailing vessel rather than anything directly related to pirates...
  10. Try asking in the Are there many notable custom sailmakers one can commission? Topic - maybe the sailmakers also make stickers...
  11. Not a bad little vessel indeed! We could blog this if the presentation were a bit better.
  12. Of course! Silly me for not staying current on the Ladybird books.
  13. It certainly is a good day for Captain Roger Redbeard! Dare I ask how he acquired all that gold?
  14. Well, it's the only LEGO set which includes that baseplate so...
  15. You mean this isn't the battle of Waterloo? (Pun may not translate into certain dialects)
  16. Might have something to do with the LEGO Pirates theme winding down by the time the Imperial Armada made their debut which sadly eliminated such possibilities. Maybe the LEGO Group could innovate once more and introduce a new sub theme! Nah, they like to play it safe because that's where the money is. However, many years ago, in the LEGO Pirates Forum, we speculated what minifigs from a possible Dutch sub-theme could look like (we named the sub-theme "The Haven Guard") So rather than just repaint the Imperial torso a third time, we decided the troops could be based on the Dutch musketeers.
  17. Oh helmet isn't a morion, it's my chamber pot. And that's the point. The Imperial Guard torso was just a red palette swap of the Imperial Soldier torso, so doing that a third time for the Imperial Armada would be too derivative... and boring! I like how the LEGO Group bothered to innovate and come up with something completely different which enables us to represent another period in history... it also adds more depth and variation to the LEGO Pirates theme.
  18. They conquistadors. But what does the mighty Imperial Armada not interest you?
  19. Aye, some more photos would be great!
  20. "Da Vinci Coding" the LEGO set numbers! The next LEGO Pirate set will be based on the recent LEGO Ideas contest winner, Ray the Castaway.
  21. The 16x16 base plate could be found in 6265 Sabre Island or 6260 Shipwreck Island. While the 32x32 island base plate was found in 6270 Forbidden Island. But the question is... what are you going to do with these base plates now you've found them?
  22. ¡Ay, caramba! Standard issue Imperial Armada uniform should not be used for such a purpose!
  23. Once the blog post is published it goes through our social media network so it's also been shared via Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Pinterest, Tumblr, Reddit, etc. Hopefully that helps.
  24. This is an expensive past time... those sets don't go cheap on the secondhand market, even if they're incomplete. I'm very thankful I got mine back in the mid 2000's before it became popular to collect LEGO. Back then you could get quite good deals on classic sets, sometimes in MISB condition. What about the rarer minifigs? How big was the basebase? 16x16 or 32x23? Does the print resemble an island in the centre or a river?
  25. I suspect the brown hull will work better with the colour of the sails. Currently the "curtains don't make the carpet"
