  1. That's why I got one... to preserve the nostalgia forever. If I wanted the pieces for building I'd get them in used condition via Bricklink.
  2. Nope, it's the real deal. The LEGO pieces are actually inside two seal packets... so that's like 2xMISP! The outer packet is the general LEGO Service Packet while the inner packet is bar-coded with the set ID.
  3. 5150 LEGO Pirates Service Pack MISP from 1990. I am such a LEGO Pirates nerd!
  4. Nah, I'm a killjoy who takes the fun out the speculation. I'm actually bad for the discussion and someone should cap me irons...
  5. I've somewhat grown to disdain typical fanboy "I think this will happen" statements which are based on little more than personal conjecture, instead I lay the facts down straight, if I have them. Actually, that's not what I meant. I was absent from the forums for a few months so did I miss an official statement from the LEGO Group informing us how well the recent pirate sets sold? If there has not been an official statement, then we won't know how well the pirate sets sold until the LEGO Group releases their next fiscal report.
  6. If they didn't sell well, why are all the sets sold out in less than two months?
  7. Definitely the printed parrots... the marbled second.
  8. Ironhook is actually me in disguise, so there, mystery solved.
  9. I know nothing of the Pirates of the Caribbean licence, nor have I mentioned sets relating to that licence.
  10. The latest wave of Pirate sets.
  11. The 2009/2010 Pirate sets were released before the current business plan. I know nothing of Castle. The LEGO Group cares not for AFOLs as 7-12 year old males are the target market for Pirate sets. So releasing a new wave of sets every 6-7 years (I.e.a product cycle) ensures the LEGO Group can reuse the same set concepts because a new "generation" of 7-12 year old males will be available.
  12. The deal is one wave of Classic Pirate sets every 5-7 years. That is not speculation, that is the official business plan as it capitalises on the theme as much as possible.
  13. At least $10 each...
  14. The hosting provider was acquired by a new company so they moved all the hosting accounts to a new server. The DNS should have resolved so give it a try now.
  15. Yes, in 5-7 years time as per the current product cycle. And that isn't my own speculation, the LEGO Group actually stated this to be their plan whilst I was a LEGO Ambassador.
  16. They must have determined their current "one wave" strategy is the most profitable.
  17. No, they love the income generated by the sporadic pirate releases, hence the 5-7 year product cycle.
  18. Exactly. They're just strategically cashing in on the popularity of the theme.
  19. I've been modelling the new gold conquistador armour since it became available a couple of years ago.
  20. The Golden Age of LEGO Pirates was 1989-1993... The 2009 and 2015 releases are part of the LEGO Group's current product cycle. As the LEGO Pirates target age range is 7-12 years, the LEGO Group intends release a new wave of "Classic" pirate sets approximately every 6 years, because after that period the youngest of those children will have exceeded that age range, I.e. the 7 year olds will be 13. So with this cycle they can effectively sell to a new "generation" of 7-12 year olds with each wave.
  21. But if anyone wants to give feedback... feel free!
  22. Local Grammar Nazi here... "napping" has two p's... "Naping", while not an official word has a couple of interesting colloquial definitions according to the Urban Dictionary. Make of that what you will...
  23. Thank you for submitting your design. Please note I will not be doing anything to move this project forward in the near future so don't expect feedback on your submissions.
  24. The problem is, until it gets defined these questions cannot be answered... However, I strongly recommend you read the Project Overview thread and all the threads linked to it. There is also vital information about the type of sets we intend to build.
