These days I've become so busy I don't remember what was discussed 5 days ago. I've got so many different projects underway, it's hard to keep track of forum discussions, so if the info/content is not within the immediate posts, there is a high chance I'll forget. Anyway, I found Jake the Snake Blake on page 10 of the March/April 1996 LEGO Maniac Magazine!
-
Thanks for that info. I managed to find it on Instagram via Bricky Bricks account and extracted the hashtags. This could be very useful if Classic-Pirates.com ever gets its Social Media strategy happening.
-
That you did, but stupid Mister Phes was busy with work and didn't have time to go back and reread the earlier posts. Completely forgot the specifics of that post. Where might we find a scan of that magazine? Is this the one you're referring to?
-
So what changed in the US in 1996? Was he named somewhere?
-
Given Ironhook was named in various advertising media would seem to differentiate him from a generic pirate figure, otherwise why bother naming him? In the UK at least, he's been talked up to someone more than just a regular crew member or an alternate version of Red Beard/Roger... Below are some excerpts from the UK 1993 and 1994 catalogues featuring the name Ironhook. However, there was also a comic included with some of the larger islander sets and I cannot recall whether Ironhook featured in that or not. I'll try and dig it up later.

If you want to reference content on your site please provide a direct link to the correct webpage. We don't all have time to go searching for hidden content we don't even know is hidden. So if you want people to use your website, make it as easy as possible for them.

Ok, now I'm confused! Earlier you said: So I went to your site and couldn't find the magazines featuring Roger/Ironhook which prompted you to post links to magazines on the Netherlands site. Why did you claim the magazines were on your website when they are on the Netherlands website?
-
Thank you for providing the direct links... but what's the point of instructing people to find the information on your site if the information is hidden? I went the magazine section and all I could find was the 1989 Bricks 'n Pieces magazines

Lego Pirate Comic: The Unpublished Sequel to The Golden Medallion
Mister Phes replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Pirates
I don't have a clue... I've mentally filtered them out until this point. -
I gathered that, but finding what you're referring to is a bit of a challenge. Having to download zip files does not make for a good user experience! Anyway, since I'm dedicated I went the magazine section of your website and downloaded the zip for summer 89 magazine but Ironhook is not present. So exactly which magazine am I supposed to be looking at?

Your website is a great resource of LEGO Pirates materials - you've done a great job there! However, most people aren't going to visit your website, every time you post "visit my website" because it's an added level of effort. Generally the point of forums is to post the content directly into the topics because it's far more convenient to access.

1993 LEGO World Expo "Pirates Ahoy" Souvenir Booklet
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Ok, you're making this waaaaaaaaaaay harder than it needs to be. I understand you're trying to drive more traffic to your website but it's unreasonable to expect forum users to visit your site and search through .zip files to locate the correct image. No one but me will go to that effort. So the image from my earlier post (also below), is not the image you were referring to? -
Yeah, that's probably not what the majority of forum users are going to do. If an image is not immediately in front of them they probably won't bother.

You mean this TV commercial? The club magazines aren't fresh in mind - how are they the same person in these Club Magazines?
-
I don't have the necessary permissions to grant space but I can attach them for you, if you have a copy of the image files hosted on your website.

1993 LEGO World Expo "Pirates Ahoy" Souvenir Booklet
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I did that and it linked me to lws8.zip which was a 9MB download full of images so I'm a bit uncertain exactly which page you're referring to but this one has a pirate in blue on the left... -
It might have something to do with 6289 Red Beard Runner... Check out the crew and you'll observe there is a minifigure with the Ironhook torso but sans the pegleg.

Lego Pirate Comic: The Unpublished Sequel to The Golden Medallion
Mister Phes replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yeah, just like the Paradisa minifigures from the early 90s. "Doll" - that's a great way of describing whatever this is supposed to be -
Where can we find a decent image of the LEGO Battles version of Camilla? The Golden Medallion comic version of Camilla is blonde... Meanwhile, the minifigure released in Brickbeard's Bounty during 2009 is dark haired. Which corresponds more to the character design in LEGO Battles (I can only find a headshot in Google Images) However, the minifigure upon which this design is based is apparently the Admiral's Daughter according to the LEGO Wikis, rather than Broadside's niece.

This is why I post photos so there isn't any confusion as to who or what's being referred to. But this is the minifigure which is the Anne character is based on, yeah?
-
Right you are, TalonCard, the original grey dolphin debuted during 1995, in the Paradisa set 6414 Dolphin Point then appeared in the Belville, Town and Diver themes throughout the proceeding few years.

And monkeys... and dolphins...

1993 LEGO World Expo "Pirates Ahoy" Souvenir Booklet
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I do indeed have a physical copy of the souvenir booklet but it's been so long I don't remember scanning it. Surely pirates had more than one outfit! -

I can't even remember if you provided those scans... or I did That's a good observation! I never noticed the resemblance myself, but perhaps that's because Culverin was depicted in the Golden Medallion Comic in different colours.
