  1. I feel like foreign reports and artists are often rather unkind in their representations of our troops... Probably compensating for something... I like the forced perspective - it's an interesting way to create a landscape that is more curved. Perhaps playing around with more focus on the front for a more blurry background could improve the effect even more? Cool choice of colour, too.
  2. Cool concept and very evocative scene! Well done! :) Pressing "F" to doubt here, but it may help a bit nonetheless Eslandola has a sizeable force in seawatch expected to join in the battle - so yes, it would seem you are rather lost Check the coordination thread pinned for some more details. The OL battle plan sets it up nicely (top of page 2)
  3. Cool build, although the story does make me somewhat concerned as to what will happen next! I am particularly surprised to see how well that orange roof works. And that curved top finishes it nicely! Will this build be licensed in Port Raleigh?
  4. Just a heads-up to say that technically, the deadline for attack builds is two weeks prior to the mrca deadline, but we have decided to be lenient this time around, which has also been coordinated with Thaum, who is building the defense build. The sooner the better, though, for all parties, as we can then start to run the numbers!
  5. It looks like the coalition of OL, ESL, and COR will attack the Lotus around Seawatch soon, which means, per the land combat rules, that the Lotus will soon have to defend themselves. This means a player will have the opportunity to build a defence build for the Lotus, assisting them in their struggle. So if anyone would find that fun, take a look at the El Oleonda coordination thread and consider signing up for this build and start planning. (Of course, consider what the Lotus would IC know, so that one does not metagame by looking at the tactics proposed by OL to its coalition partners, etc.)
  6. Thank you all for the feedback. I hope I can find time to respond more in details, but for now, I wanted to add some links to the history leading up to the independence of the Commonwealth of Terraversa.
  7. @DeathCap The HMS Carolina has been licensed for the Crown of Corrington, and 60 dbs has been transferred for the build. It is also our pleasure to confirm the commission of (formerly acting) lieutenant Thomas Palmer as second upon the HMS Carolina. I also really like the moc and give it a clear for GoC. You have achieved a nice hull shape with the half stud offset increments in width, although it does give clear steps. For future builds, it may be interesting to experiment with hinges or perhaps bend bricks. Your rigging is nice too, although there are a few "irish pennants" (uncut loose ends of string), that you may consider removing for future builds. Overall, though, there are a lot of excellent details in the rigging, and this is a great brig moc! I wish her all the best in her adventures across the Brick Seas! She will serve the Royal Navy well!
  8. The ETTC has now licensed the vessel. And I just want to add that this is a beautiful brig, with a load of great details and excellent proportions. I am hard pressed to bring up any suggestions for improvement, as you show an excellent attention to detail in running and standing rigging, deck furniture, and hull. Absolutely lovely. (And a for GoC)
  9. 2 years after the Terraversan wars, Grand Admiral L'Olius, now statholder of the Commonwealth of Terraversa, is giving his "state of the Commonwealth" address. From the balcony of the Westface Government Hall, formerly the city hall, his booming quarterdeck voice rings out across the so-called "Mardierian stairs" to the crowds assembled there and in the main square. The two years have brought peace, and the initial investment on agriculture have ensured that none have gone hungry. Trade has not boomed as much as hoped, and Corrington have been heavily invested in renewed wars with the Lotus, and not able to support the fledgling nation as much as hoped. However, L'Olius has big plans... Amongst the crowd, Captain Cooke and Consul Montoya, still held up in Westface, are listening to the speech, reflecting on Corrington's limited involvement in the new nation. Both painfully aware that Corrington has not offered the assistance they had both wished for... 2 years of independence by Christian West, on Flickr _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This will be licensed by the Commonwealth of Terraversa as a large cultural building. It's been in the works for a long time, but any feedback is more than welcome. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A few sources to the back story of this build: Oleon's mission to Terraversa Corrington's ditto Oleon's attack on Kings Port First and second issue of the KPA, detailing the Terraversan Civil War/2nd Terraversan War of Independence Peace negotiations NB: There are plenty of other builds related to this story, and a little digging around will find you a very interesting series of events.
  10. I concur. ChatGPT may not have figured Mesabi out, but @Ross Fisher certainly has...
  11. Seems like the good count has done some excellent PR with Chat gpt, except for the Oleon part But still impressive. We must have made some impact! I experimented a bit with whether chatgpt could help make combat write-ups, and after inputting some information, it made some reasonable effort. It does require significant input (Ship types, etc.), though, so it was more for fun. I never ended up using it, but will keep an eye out going forward.
  12. Cool troops - and good explanation. I think this is an excellent example of a troop raising build.
  13. @Jeff of Clubs's build/story has two aspects, that ESL and COR will have to consider: A general treaty of cooperation in the war Can these conditions for cooperation be agreed upon, or does something need adjusting? I would suggest this is handled in parallel to point 2. An attack plan against the Lotus forces outside Seawatch I consider this 'almost' the attack build, but would expect both ESL and COR commanders to chip in with whether/how they will follow this plan. To speed things along after a long build-up, we will soon want the battle to commence. Will ESL and COR coordinate efforts in Seawatch or independently decide whether/how to execute Oleon's plan? If they do not sally forth from Seawatch, will Oleon be left to face Lotus forces alone (to take both glory, honour, and blame for the result)? And if neither ESL or COR moves, will OL be forced to retreat, and what will Lotus then do? The clock is now ticking, and if the Halosian forces do not make a move, the Lotus probably will... Carno is likely to maintain the defenses of Seawatch, unless someone convinces them to sally forth with the rest. I will bring this to the secret chambers of COR, and perhaps @Capt Wolf or @Garmadon will do so for ESL? It would also be most helpful if the committed troops and their numbers can be added, to make it easier for us as GMs, when the battle is to be decided. Time is ticking for Halosian forces - will they act before the forces of the Lotus Empire seize the initiative or perhaps get reinforced?
  14. To be clear, that was a very minor nitpick and just a suggestion for the future - I DO absolutely love this build. Particularly how you have created a interesting facade in just one colour!
  15. Excellent idea - and I always like to see more of the order! The gondola is nice, and I really like the Venetian look. Both facade and interior is excellent. Only minor gripe is the roof technique, which leaves some gaps. The story is amusing and interesting - excellent concept executed well! What more can one wish for!
  16. Remember, it is not a competition to complete it the fastest. You can make up your own story, within the setting of bobs. Like any roleplaying game or collaborative project, all you need to do is to respect the setting and the freedom of others. So of course, your character can do almost anything he wants, and other may react to it. You can play in NPCs of various kinds, and if you would like to use other people's characters, it is best to coordinate with them first. But your level of freedom is very high.
  17. Beautiful semaphore! We've had a few in BoBS in the past and I always enjoy them. Your construction looks really nice, and it certainly qualifies for a small property.
  18. Excellent rendition of the inspiration pics, and an amazing build in itself. I like the story too, although Mr. Nash seems to make his way through the Colonies very quickly! (Personally, I prefer a bit more internal consistency in my characters' travels, but I have nothing against your approach.) The building itself is really nice, and captures that colonial industrial feel spot on. But to me, it is the inclusion of the landscaping around it that makes it stand out. It is something that is often hard to do with physical bricks, so I am really happy to see you go the extra effort here. A definite for GoH, of course!
  19. Nice vibrant and active camp scene with lots of little detail that makes it come alive. I am trying to figure out how the trees are built, but can't really make it out. A definite for GoH from me. Only one comment. Remember you are only awarded the titles after your builds have been reviewed, and I would also allow the faction to award you them, rather than claiming them yourself
  20. Cool story - makes for a lot of drama both to have a new brother, and to have the faith appropriate your lands! Excellent idea. I also think your cemetarybia well executed. I think it might have benefited from a more somber, darker green, as the vibrant light green looks a little out of place, but that is really nitpicking. I also like the various graves. And yes, this can certainly be licensed as a cultural property.
  21. Excellent landscaping, overall composition, and lovely little house. The waterfall is very cleverly built, and that technique for the roof works very well. Another highlight is the vegetation, which look very natural. Excellent use of colours all around! As per the rules, three properties built by one player can be licensed per month. Builds part of a collaboration with others adds the potential of a fourth, and partaking in royal Collab a does not count against the limit. Hence it doesn't matter who licenses the builds, only who builds them. However, remember that is only referring to licensing properties. You can build free builds, ships, story builds, troops etc. all you like, and I am always rooting for more story builds. And unlicensed builds can be licensed in later months when your activity is focused elsewhere, or you do not have as much property building capacity.
  22. I think we can all agree about this. I am simply asking that we keep a more positive and constructive tone, when communicating on this forum. I am sure this goes for all of us, and anyone can have a bad day, but this community should be a friendly and welcoming place to be, and we should motivate eachother.
  23. ...assuming you do not target us during that time, of course ;)
  24. Early on, we had a few instances of many very similar, and fairly low-effort, boats being licensed, but this was quickly amended with the relevant players and the rules updated and clarified. Are you finding the level 1 and 2 vessels as presented e.g. here (gunboats for the colonies) "gaming the system"? Or LM's gunboats? As far as I can see, they present good effort, and the limited utility of these vessels seems to balance out reasonably. (Which also tracks with the results above) I must admit I find this comment unconstructive and demotivating, both for builders who build these vessels, and for those of us who try to run the game for everyone's enjoyment and put effort into running the tMRCA. If you take issue with a specific set of rules or builds, please take it up either through the court or as a general discussion in the proper place (e.g. the general thread). Thank you
