  1. I took the 8265 loader and built it into a log skidder. Problem has I reversed the direction of it,and built a whole new cab face the other end, but didnt do anything with the stearing. So now its backwards, I knew it was gonna be going into it, and didnt worry about it. I supose I could have reworked it a little and got it going right, but theres not much room there. Dan
  2. Disappointed, no way. You did an awesome job, your a true master. Like I said I did a quick run through last night after work, and I just need to sit down and take the time to really read it. I saw a lot of things in it that I can put to use in future builds. Dan
  3. Got mine yesterday also, Very well done book, Paul. I have yet to dig deeper into it , but what I,ve read so far is quit interesting. I think this is a must have for any die hard LEGO technic fan. Dan.
  4. Thanks Eric, we needed to know that bit of info, LOL. Dan
  5. Pretty cool idea, you could use this for a lot of things, make it more off roadable and it could come in handy for spying on someone, LOL. Dan.
  6. sweet car, wish I had all the parts needed too build cars like this. Dan
  7. Looks like Henry Ford,s model T on steroids, Dan
  8. I just find it disapointing, I know there are a lot AFOL,s out there that could build something great, but with this contest there are so many rules, I think most will sit it out. I could be wrong, but thats just my 2 cents. I may work on something, but right now I dont have a lot of free time.
  9. Correct, I was just throwing that out there. I,m sure more sets in the future will have pnumatics, The uni mog was a hit, still is. The only draw back I see is we now have the new motor and servo so who knows for sure. Dan
  10. Very cool design, I need some hubs. Been thinking about buying a super car set, or get back with Paul on one of his, LOL.
  11. I just picked up a 8455 on Ebay for less that 200, just waiting on it to get here. Ten cylinders and 7 control valves, two pumps. I,m gonna have over 20 cylinders now with this set in my invintory and a bunch of valves. Dan
  12. Its stupid, you bust your butt build something to put on top of their chassie, and if you win you get nothing but a pat on the back, your name on the box maybe. I might buy one seeing as it will be a collectors set for sure due to low number of sets beign released. In the past I know they gave out nice prize packs, must be getting cheap. I just got a crawler last week, its sitting on my dresser now and will be for a while, LOL. I had a really cool idea, but this and the copy right laws would not work for me any ways. I dont think Chyrsler would like LEGO to produce a jeep wrangler model with out thier ok either. Dan
  13. And here I thought it might be cool to build something for it, not that I think I would stand a chance considering the other builders out there. BUT THIS IS LAME !!!!! I,m gonna pass, sorry LEGO your idea is BS Dan
  14. Damn someone stole my idea, LOL. When I was about 14 or 15 I built a jeep, this was way be fore lift arms it was all studfull. I used the foam tires, and it had 4 wheel stear, but no drive. Now 25 years later I get to build one likw I never could back then using the 9398. Dan
  15. Sweet I have 8 of them, LOL. I wonder how well they hold on the rims though. Dan LOl, this is funny. Reminds me of when I rode my bike to TRU and bought the VW chassie when I was about 12 years old. I had the box up untill about 2 years ago, using it for storage didnt do it much good I,m afraid. I have the bull dozer, the small crane and the farm tractor still in my collection. The things we hold dear to our hearts :) !! Dan
  16. I just got my 9398 today so i,ll have a better time building the remote for this, but first I have to build the 9398, LOL. Kinda stoaked, have some ideas on mods for it. By then you should have the instructions for this one figured out and up. Dan
  17. I know what your saying, but if you look closely the tabs barely move, and that even depends on the orientation. The bushings are not uniform I noticed, one side might have a slight higher edge than another. With the new style the tabs spring out a little bit and stay, with he old one they spring in and out as they go over the ridges on the bushing. This to me is worse because your repeating the motion. Kinda like bending a clothes hanger back n forth, soon it will break. Still with the older style the movement is so small I dont see it causing a problem, I would be more worried about the wear to the tabs from the friction caused going back n forth. Dan
  18. That bushing fits just fine in the driving ring. I have one in front of me now, What it doesnt do is hold the driving ring in place if you slide it one way or the other like the ribbed one does. For a power switched set up this would,nt be a problem since the motor would hold it in place. For a manual it might not stay engaged is all. the tabs are ment to bend some, they dont bend any more than if you were to use the ribbed bushing. Dan
  19. I just picked up a back hoe loader set for 70 bucks at TRU, I think That was a good deal considering all the pieces in the set. I,m one of the guys that goes to Bricklink to see the invintory of a set, I got a crawler coming, got a real good deal on it NISB. I didnt realize there were two new style L motors in it, after looking the list over a few times, I knew I had to have one. Back when the Uni Mog was big, I got one, then looking at all the parts, I got one more. One thing I noticed is a lot of the stores on BL are buying new sets and parting them out, I wonder how much of a profit they make over the price of the set ? Dan
  20. I can build that, I like your axle set up. I do agree though, the wheels have way to much positive camber. If you can just move the shock mounting points inward some and it should set the wheels better. I,d like to see the directions to this, very interesting. I ,d have to build it in yellow though, not orange. Dan
  21. I look at it this way, if I was gonna build something I thought should be 100% LEGO , then I,m gonna do it. If, on the other hand I,m building something that needs a modded part or something that does,nt yet exsist, i,m Gonna build it. I,m working on a longer cylinder for a crane because we all know LEGO does,nt have one. That limits my ability to build what I want, yes, its not LEGO, but it gets the job done, and I,m happy. My happieness is what counts, LOL. Dan
  22. How about this, there my LEGOS,s and I,m gonna do what I want, LOL. I like building things that LEGO would never think of, and if that means I have to mod something oh well. To me its about filling in the gap where LEGO lacks the parts I need to build what I want. Dan
  23. Go to his Brickshelf site, I,m sure he has pictures of it on there. Dan
  24. No, I was commenting on the pictures of Barman,s ideas. I got one out, cut one side off then took a file to it smoothing it out nice. Looks good other than needing a little buffing to shine it up like the reats of it.
  25. You can make the first one pretty easy if you don,t mind modding a double of it. Just cut one side off and smooth out the side, n you have one. There , just made one, now if only I could figure out how to post pics on this bloody site. Barman has some cool ideas on these and related pieces.
