  1. I,m on here a lot, I dont post much, just read and admire the creations you guys build. If you saw the collection I have, you would die. I just need to make use of it and start building stuff, LOL. Dan
  2. I,ve had plenty of fails, LOL. I,ve been building small things lately, like gear boxes. I had a set of mat tracks made, but I didnt like the spacing between the lower gears so I ended up taking all of them a part. Next time I build some I have a better idea in mind on what I want. Then I can build a Uni mog and put them on it, or maybe something else. I,m still learning the studless way, have to remember. I stopped building when I was about 15 or 16, now I,m 43, LOL. Dan
  3. say it a litle louder, I dont think they heard you CHINA !!! lol,
  4. I,m kinda at astall too, more to do with time than anything though. When i,m out n about I look for things at constuction sites that look good. another thing you can do is look at web sites for things. Cat, Grove. John Deere, ect. I,m sceaming to build a D 11 side boom with swing out counter weight, have,nt seen any thing like it yet.
  5. LOL, I thought he was still on a tricycle, and couldnt wait too get on real bike. Sorry, I had too. Dan
  6. I picked up a 8275 today for 225 on ebay, I think that was a fare price considering I,ve seen some go for over 400 in past couple months. I got it more for the part factor, than the set, but that being said I,ll still build it. I like the set, but I can see a few things that could be changed to make it a better one. Its a nice set for sure, one that any collector should have in there invintory . Dan
  7. I get heat for it too at work, My ex fience hates them sights that as one big reason we are no more. It,s not Duplo, Duplo is where we started, this is where it all ends !!!
  8. The updated 8421 looks nice, I like your use of new pieces over the older stud type. Going all yellow is is different, I think with yellow rims it looks a little better versus the grey ones, You need some yellow wedge blocks for the back to hid the battery box. Where did you get the orange borok pieces on the boom, LOL. I,ve got a bunch of black one, need to send ya couple, LOL. Dan
  9. Sorry that was not what I wanted, LOl. I dont have any boat weights. I had the under carrage done and the super structure if you will. I get some things done, I,ll try to get back on it and build another one. Get some pics on here once I figure out how to do that, LOL
  10. LOL, crawler crane. I had it just about built, but I wasnt happy with the turn table set up. The mian body was built with lift arms, large enough I have all the motors inside the frame work. there were the different motors for functions, by the time I had it all together, the tail was too heavy for the turn table. What I need to do is come up with a rotaion point similar to the 8421, use lift arms inconjuction with the table so it has a bigger foot print. All together I had 4 motors, one for rotation, boom up n down, and 2 for lifting cables. The plan was to have 2 one for the main boom and one for a jib, much like the ones you see here in the states.
  11. I built mine maybe 3 times, and the second one never like the stock one. That one was built into the ultimate, and it seemed to work fine. I built a crawler a couple months ago and it was horrible, didnt turn good at all. I think it was a good example of being to heavy at the tail Dan
  12. Oh come on, where,s your sense of adventure Eric, LOL.
  13. If I had time to build it, I,d like to se if mine would do this. I have 2 in my stock, a first eddition and the new one with the better liniers. Dan
  14. You beat me to it, LOL. I have a sceem, gonna build the XL version, but i want to go with a linier set up for lifting. Do the same thing you did, go with PF motors and loose the R/C motor. Gonna make the boom longer, and build a dolly for it to sit on behind the crane while being transported. We have a company here in town that has a big one, and thats how they get it around for the most part. I,ve seen bigger ones set up, the bring the boom in on a trailer then put it on at the job site using another crane. Would like to go with 3 drives and 4 steers too, just to be different, LOL. Dan
  15. well that depends, with his your not really adding more functions, your just seperating them. Yes, he added a motor, but you dont run all 5 at the same time. Useing a l motor would be a bigger drain than a M, but how much more? Dan
  16. That thing is a bit tail heavy, sounds to me like when its off the ground the weight doesnt have any effect on it, but soon as you sit it back down the weight throws it off, and you have the drag problem your experiencing. Off in left field though, I built the B model of it tonight and it even has a few problems, must be the set, LOL. Dan
  17. I picked up a spool of Red Heart black nylon at Hancock Fabrics last week, try going to a fabric store. This is kinda big, I would say close to what the main lines on the crawler crane are size wise. I got some waxed string awhile back from a hobby n crafts store, its nice, but stiff. this stuff is very flexable, just have to take a lighter to the ends so that they don,t fray. I have some kite string, but its white, thinking about getting some dye and making it black for my upcoming crane project. Dan
  18. I really like to get a 8275, therees one on Ebay now biding started at 325. I went through the parts list on Bricklink and ordered all the stuff I didnt have to build it. Just need to take the time to do it. I got another 8421 too last week, so now I,m gonna build a super size 8421, LOL. Dan
  19. I,d agree on it becoming a classic like the others, I got my first one from LEGO, and the second came from E bay for a bit less money. I,ve been seeing them on there for close to 300 dollars, once there gone I think the price will likely go to 500 or higher in the next couple years or sooner. I was on LEGO,s site over the weekend and see there on BO due to being out of stock, wonder if this is a sign that their on there way out. Dan
  20. I thought the hubs on the 8110 were nice, but hey. That just me, I kinda go against the flow any ways, LOL.
  21. Good God, you have a mountain of stuff, LOL. How many new turn tables do you have, LOL ? I spotted that bag, I have mine in Acro-mils containers, and a bunch of plano boxes. I,ll have to get a pic of it and see if I can post it on here for you guys to see. My fiance calls it LEGO central, she hates them like you wouldnt believe, LOL.
