  1. Excellent idea, it's so easy to get stuck in narrow medieval European patterns when imagining fantasy characters
  2. Perfect Fallout atmosphere! I really like that CN Tower ruin
  3. Excellent rocks, that stair is really beautiful!
  4. So much to like here! Excellent terrain design, and that wall looks really good as well! But what really caught my eye was the minifig posing, well excecuted and very well photographed. Keep it up!
  5. I am a bit confused, has Nice Marmot left GoH (temporarely or permanently) or just gone silent? The last posts I can find from him is from April.
  6. I suppose there is a lively debate going on among the scholars at the University of Petraea regarding if it truly is Kaligem, and what it means if it indeed has been found?
  7. Sir Gideon resides in Barqa since many years, and even though he rarely stays there any longer times he could probably be a candidate for a seat in the Barqa city council. If no veteran member of GoH would like to represent Barqa, he might also be persuaded to act as the Barqan emissary to the Kaliphlin council even though he really isn't interested in the boring duties of governing. Having good connections with the representatives and lords of the other cities of Kaliphlin is after all probably good for business. Out of character: I have considered to move Sir Gideon's residence to one of the yet undescribed minor cities and flesh that out a bit in the future, but if that would leave Barqa without an active representative my sigfig will stay there. I have some ideas for Barqa MOCs in the back of my head if I ever get time to build it I hope there are members who like to represent Qarkyr and Ras-el-Akhen as well? But there are maybe plausible political reasons explaining if they aren't represented at the moment in the Kaliphlin Council.
  8. Interesting tower design to the left, looking forward to the upper part! Congratulations! That makes it almost 6 posts per day since you joined, impressive activity. And yet you also find time to be such a productive builder
  9. Thanks for this tutorial! I hope this is more stable than my usual palm tree technique involving round plates with hooks, but regardless the upwards leaves look much better. I'm definitely going to try this technique in some upcoming Kaliphlin build or maybe on some uninhabited (?) island
  10. A lot of details you've got there considering the small footprint, well done! The minifig posing is my favorite here, and the photography is good as well (although I don't fully agree with how the pictures are cropped). I must admit that the shield had me thinking that this was a Mitgardian entry until I saw the Avalonian colors.
  11. Sorry for being so inactive in this thread, almost all my brick time since finishing the MAC entry has been devoted to preparing (read: sorting) for a LUG build due in October. The only actual building I've been able to do has been a frustrating attempt at producing a decent half-timber facade in that castle. I already long to be finished with it and get back to building in tan!
  12. Half-timber definitely fits Mitgardia, especially with snow-covered roofs ;)
  13. I agree, in my mind Mitgardia is more like the Nordic in the Viking ages/early middle ages (I'm thinking architecture like stave churches) or maybe Rohan in LotR (but less horses). But of course there can be cities of more "civilized" nature, for example like there were cities belonging to the Hanseatic league in the Nordic during the middle ages. Regardless, your builds are stellar. Keep it up!
  14. It fits my idea of how Mitgardia is (at least some parts of it) that its soldiers is more like a band of warriors using their own weapons and armor, united by common interest rather than drafted conscripts/hired soldiers with identical equipment provided by their leader. I say go for the irregular look!
  15. Nice change of style between the towers! Standing that close together and with the soldiers facing the same way it looks more like they are guarding together than against each other
  16. Having a non-sticky thread with posts done by us members and linking to that from the first post in the guild threads sounds like a good middle way suggestion to me. My fears if we only use the first post are that it will either take too much time away from more important contributions for the thread creators or simply make the sigfig info quickly grow old and inaccurate... Ska's suggestion for the structure of the first post looks very good, except for that it might be good to have links to current challenges etc at the top of the post? I agree that it was a commendable attempt to make a sigfig thread, a bit premature though since the shape of the forum for Book 2 hadn't been settled yet. Welcome to the GoH community GravGunner, I'm also looking forward to seeing your enthusiasm in GoH!
  17. Definitely one of the best LotR MOCs I've seen! You really nailed the Rivendell feel here and your attention to detail is top notch. Keep it up!
  18. Sounds perfect to me, all my tan is locked up in my city wall build and I'm going to try to bring that to the Swebrick exhibition in early October. So no tan builds for me in at least 2 months... That being said, Sir Gideon will aid in this search after helping Masa to search for the ingridients to the potion.
  19. Ok, I think I can manage that. I'm staying on this quest and will let my sigfig help out with the first segment here before heading on to aiding in Eastgate :)
  20. Having each member in the first post of each guild would work just as fine as well I think, as long as the thread is created by someone who remains active in the forum and can add new members etc. The benefit of a separate thread is that it will enable each member to manage their info themselves. Regardless, I like the idea that everyone who wants to take part in Book II needs to re-signup for their guilds, to sort out who is active and not. That way we might also collect some more information, for example requiring that some kind of parts reference be made (and added in a spoiler tag in the first post) in order to recreate other members sigfigs?
  21. I suppose taking part in Masa's quest rules one out of participating in this? Didn't understand at the time when I posted there that it was one of several choices, I thought it was sign-up for the whole community effort... But maybe one's character can help in finding one of the ingredients to the potion, and then helping out in Eastgate (or not succeeding in finding one of the ingredients because of the need for help in Eastgate? )
  22. I have commented on this in the general discussion thread, since it is not really a Mitgardian issue only.
  23. There should probably be an official sticky thread with this kind of information if we commit to that, but I think your way of writing it is not bad :) I especially like the section with links to the parts, very useful! It would also be good to know a characters wherabouts, but I can understand if this kind of information gets obsolete very fast if people don't update their posts in the thread often enough... In addition, I think if we add secondary characters they should probably be added in a spoiler field to avoid unnessesary long posts in the thread. I don't know about if the powers that be would like to make your thread sticky in the future, but I think we could go with that as a start :) I will try to make a list of my parts anyways.
  24. It's good that you draw a line here. If we are going to se more conflict and competition within the guilds in the future we need to be able to distinguish clearly between "in character" hostility (totally ok) and "out of character" hostility (not ok).
  25. Good work with the introduction, interesting story and nice vignettes! In this one I especially like the portal with a microscale landscape behind. This MOC reminds me a lot of Stargate, but I suppose that this is another land on the same planet? :)
