  1. I really appreciate the comments from all of you. I think that diamond pattern turned out well, especially since it doesn't use any special techniques and is just made of plates. I'll see if I can get a few more pictures of the interior. I found it hard to get good ones of the cargo area, especially with the lighting.
  2. Thanks for all the compliments! The front section and wings are indeed modular, but are just meant to make it easier to transport to shows. I had originally made the middle and rear part split into three smaller sections, but it was making the model too flimsy so I changed it.
  3. The water effects are great, and I like how you planned out the lighting. It's often hard to get interior lighting to look right through transparent bricks.
  4. Thank you everyone. The roof slopes turn out to fit together nicely in that thatch pattern, although I wasn't able to fully cover the space up to the edges of the wings. The model does have a bit of the 40k ship style. I actually had in mind the Shivan ships from Freespace when building it, if anyone is familiar with that series.
  5. That's true. We had an exchange about the trans-neon windscreen a while ago. I was a bit reluctant to let it go but had no specific use for it and would rather see it in used in MOCs. You have a fantastic collection of these parts. I especially like the trans-blue faceted panels in the first picture. That piece is pretty rare as it is, even in other colors. It's interesting how many of these pieces seem to be in transparent colors (and not just trans-clear either). I wonder if there is a reason for that.
  6. Thanks all. This model was actually inspired by that trans-yellow canopy (from Benny's Spaceship). It was the first time in about 25 years that we got a fairly big piece in that color and made me think, what could I do with several of them? This is what came out of it. I wanted to make it look sleek but also evil, like the old Blacktron sets. I believe the Blacktron logo with the triangle signs is a fairly common technique, but it still fits in nicely here.
  7. (click for more pictures) A Blacktron battleship that leads the charge against the Space Police. Features interior lighting with several Lifelites modules and wing and tail mounted heavy laser cannons. The flight cockpit seats four including a gunner in the front, the captain shouts down orders from his command deck in the middle section, and the storage bay in the back contains a range of infantry armaments for ground assaults.
  8. This is awesome. The vehicles and buildings capture the style of the theme very nicely, and the minifig crowds give it a lively appearance with lots of things going on.
  9. I looked for those on there several times in the past few months and they were listed, but were always "not available." I ended up just getting some from Bricklink.
  10. Great models, they capture the style of the original sets perfectly. I especially like the Spectral Starguider remake.
  11. This is great, especially that outrigger design. You're packing a lot of functionality into a smaller scale than a typical mobile crane.
  12. It only does normal steering; the u-joints in the steering geartrain have a bit of slack so the wheels occasionally fall out of alignment. The LiPo box is a good idea, as the 9V box definitely adds a lot of weight to it. Does its lower voltage affect the PF motors' performance?
  13. Thank you. The motors are visible in this picture, where you can see that it's a tight fit.
  14. Thanks. It would definitely do better on slopes and rough terrain with L motors, but I used M motors to keep the size small (they just barely fit and L motors would need some adjustments to the rear area).
  15. Looks good. This model is designed for two motors to begin with, which makes you wonder why they didn't include a second output on the code pilot.
  16. (click for more pictures) Video: A trial truck with all-wheel drive, steering and suspension. I was going for the size here and wanted to make the chassis small and compact, while still having differentials. The performance is decent for its size, good enough to play with although it struggles a bit on slopes. It uses two PF M motors for driving and a servo motor for steering.
  17. This looks beautiful. The decals and custom colored parts really stand out, and the simulator platform is a clever design as well. Where did you get the trans-yellow tubes?
  18. I've had them stop working after just being left in a model for a few months, when they were previously working fine. It seems like the gears get jammed, since if I hold them up to my ear and start them I can hear a very faint click. I've tried dropping/throwing/shaking them but it didn't work. At this point I don't bother trying to fix them and just use them as decoration. They make good minifig-scale generators on buildings.
  19. I just opened a 7470 Discovery Shuttle from around the same time period, and plan to tape over a few of them (which works well, but is time consuming) and just leave the rest of the sticker sheet. There isn't really a good way to prevent this otherwise. The stickers will break up even in a dim room, unless the room is completely dark. The only stickers that have remained in good shape for me (in the affected colors) are ones on the interiors of models.
  20. Yes, this version is certainly the most versatile. The current 3-wide one is good as an actual differential but much harder to use for other purposes.
  21. I don't see the point of these pieces. Between the standard 1x4 gear racks and the various fixed-length studless gear racks, we already have the functionality they offer. The bracket doesn't even have many mounting holes, especially on the top part, and is reminiscent of the various odd Technic pieces we were getting around 2000. The only benefit I see is that the bracket is 2-wide instead of 3-wide, which an equivalent construction using standard Technic beams would be.
  22. Great model. I especially like what you did for the tail rotor's collective motion, which is hard to do at a reasonable scale.
  23. It looks good and is long overdue. However, there doesn't seem to be any new functionality at a first glance. I hope they have fixed that annoying bug with the shopping cart getting automatically emptied after several hours. Also, they need to bring back that minifig with the trashcan on his head.
  24. I would wash or at least dust off the parts. Your copy seems to be in good shape otherwise, judging from the bricks on the bottom. Still one of my favorite Technic sets ever, even though it's been surpassed by modern sets in terms of complexity. I tried doing this once but couldn't find a good solution that fit into the existing space. It really needs more gear reduction to work well. Even as it as, the motor slows down and stalls quickly as the pressure builds up. An airtank will keep the pressure up but makes precise control harder in practice.
  25. Great work. I've just been catching up to your last few updates on this. For 8432, the CD works in a Win98 VM under VirtualBox. It has some videos of the main model, instructions for several alternate models and a top-down racing game that you can complete in 10 minutes. You probably won't load it up more than once, but it's worth a look.
