Action Themes and You
Toa_Of_Justice replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
My reasons for interest in LEGO action themes include all of the above, except I go for the vehicles in sci-fi themes more so than the monsters. Otherwise, I couldn't have stated these reasons better myself. -Toa Of Justice -
Limited, bricks, eh? Given the quality and detail of your MOC, I'd never believe it. Seriously, Brickdoctor, you did an amazing job. I like how you included the string. Is there a bucket at the end of the string? I can't quite tell from the picture. -Toa Of Justice P.S. I almost forgot to ask: Can a LEGO coin be dropped in your well for wishing purposes?

Thanks for the comment, KielDaMan! The Nitro Sprinter isn't for Superkalle's contest. It's for the official LEGO Design Challenge, which I'm pretty sure is independent of Superkalle's contest. By the way, I've already entered Superkalle's contest with another MOC, the Undersea Hauler. -Toa Of Justice

Great work, slacker int! I especially like your creative use of specialized parts (the Racers spoiler, for instance). How did you get the trans-neon green bits to "glow" so brightly? -Toa Of Justice P.S. "more on flickr" doesn't link to your gallery--could you please fix that when you get a chance? EDIT: Thanks for fixing it!

Hello everyone! This is my entry in the LEGO Design Challenge. Nitro Sprinter ^Click for a larger picture.^ Rear View Here is the description I used (exactly 50 words!) when I entered this model: Download the LXF file here! (You may need to rename the file with an .lxf extension and save it as "All Files," otherwise it may save as a .zip folder.) -Toa Of Justice

For the first one, I believe it's the same way with a real wizard minifigure, since the beard occupies some neck space. For the second one, I would just connect the macaroni bricks on top of each other normally--there isn't much difference in appearance, IMHO: LXF File I'm sure the original method would have provided greater stability, but in LDD's gravity-free environment, stability doesn't matter as much as it does in the real world. -Toa Of Justice

MOC: Microscale Timesaver Switching Puzzle
Toa_Of_Justice replied to TaltosVT's topic in LEGO Train Tech
This is a great MOC, TaltosVT! I think it would fit well with the current assortment of LEGO Games. I don't think that could be done with real train cars though--they weigh too much! Giant hand-shaped cranes could be built to lift train cars all around a switching yard, but they might be prohibitively expensive. -Toa Of Justice -
I found a related bug, also with curved elements. One day, I tried to build River Heist, but there was one major problem, as the picture below illustrates: LXF File In addition, smooth tires cannot fit over smooth 1/2 bushings in LDD, as page 17 of River Heist's instructions requires. I hope the LDD team fixes these bugs. -Toa Of Justice

Personally, I think the mini TRU should have more mini LEGO sets in place of the guns. Also, I wonder if the set comes with mini marked-up price tags to put on the toys. After all, no TRU I know of is complete without inflated prices. -Toa Of Justice

I'm glad you have the right colors, but do you think you have appropriate part shapes? If you have at least 4 each of support elements and large plates (and optionally, 1 baseplate), I think that would work. If for some reason you can't wait until July, you could try one of the eBay or Amazon.com links on this page. It might cost you more money though. -Toa Of Justice P.S. I just noticed that the set number in the topic title is wrong--it should be 5983, not 5893. The other number is the one for the 2010 Creator set called Offroad Power.

I'm not sure that modern bricks are absolutely necessary for building a landing stand. Since you have Space sets, the kinds of bricks typically used in those sets should work just fine. If your sets include them, I would especially recommend using supports, large plates, and a baseplate. As for Undercover Cruiser's availability, have you checked one of the LEGO Stores in Germany? Sometimes, LEGO Stores carry items that aren't available through Shop at Home. I personally experienced that with Highway Haulers back in 2006. -Toa Of Justice

I have an idea for you. Would you consider making a special landing stand (like the one for the 2006 B-wing Fighter) for displaying your Undercover Cruiser? It may look like a prop, but if it's built right, it would look like part of the set. -Toa Of Justice

Undersea Hauler
Toa_Of_Justice replied to Toa_Of_Justice's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks to everyone for the nice comments! Unfortunately, I don't plan on doing any more Atlantis LDD MOCs. Inspiration for creations such as the Undersea Hauler doesn't come up often enough for me. Also, my time is rather limited, as I am in college now. I agree with what you said. I think the Atlantis Exploration HQ would be the better of the two companion models for the Undersea Hauler, but I think the Undersea Explorer is the best Atlantis set ever--I can't wait for mine to arrive from LEGO Shop at Home! Unfortunately, I have never seen Space 1999, but after I found this picture of the Eagle, I can see the resemblance. -Toa Of Justice -

Thanks for answering my question, Cardinal Brick. That's good to know. Perhaps that reviewer I pointed out earlier built the model wrong or had a defective/missing part. When you say that the back isn't rigid, is that in police or cargo mode? Also, in which direction does the back part flex? -Toa Of Justice

Here is another LDD MOC of mine... Undersea Hauler ^Click for a bigger picture^ Front Rear Rear 3/4 Top LXF File Brickshelf Gallery (when public) (Note: When saving the LXF file, make sure the extension is .lxf and that it is being saved as "All Files!") After the Deep Sea Salvage Crew finished their business in Atlantis, they turned to carefully managed undersea oil drilling. First, huge reservoirs were built underwater to contain the oil. Next, hoses with drill ends were directly attached to those reservoirs. Once drilling brings oil directly into each reservoir, vehicles such as the Undersea Hauler stop by and drink their fill of oil. Then, they surface from the water, drive along our highways, and deliver their oil to us surface-dwellers. The Undersea Hauler can traverse the seabed or fly through the water. It has a detachable hose on the side to empty out its massive fluid tank. In addition, there are four adjustable propellers, five maneuvering flaps (two of them convert into mudflaps!), two side-view mirrors, two stabilizing fold-down feet, and an opening cockpit. My model is based off the Seabed Truck starter model from LDD. Take me to your leader comments! -Toa Of Justice

Excellent work, zephyr1934! I am especially fond of all the details you put into your model, as well as the positioning of the crater plate to give the appearance of smoke coming from the smokestack. -Toa Of Justice

Nice review, Cardinal Brick! I was considering this set before, but I was turned away from it when I saw one Shop at Home reviewer's complaints of instability. Shop at Home link Did you experience similar problems? -Toa Of Justice
