CONTEST: Pillage the Village - Terms & Conditions
Erdbeereis replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
I agree that a CP staff member should clarify this for you, as I'm not positive.I do think though, that as long as your figs are in the appropriate time-frame, then you're okay. -
CONTEST: Pillage the Village - Terms & Conditions
Erdbeereis replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
1) I'm pretty sure this is within the rules, as many entries have been this way. 2) As long as you have the Pillage the Village feel to your entry, I believe you can use almost any type of fig. Correct me if I'm wrong though. -
*Finished* - The Pillaging of Neptune's Noggin Lagoon
Erdbeereis replied to SirNadroj's topic in Pirate MOCs
Looking good Sir Nadroj!' I look forward to seeing the final product! What exactly do you mean by another town section? -
Great work on your entry Guss! It's very clear that you put a lot of hard work in this and I think it really paid off! You just have so many great and sometimes funny details which is always a plus for me and the design of the houses and ships is quite nice as well. I really can't think of anything I would improve upon, so I'll just shut up and say, fantastic job Guss!

Is this for the Pillage the Village contest? If not, then prepare for a long blabber that has no meaning to you. If so, you need to take another look at the rules , as there are quite a few guidelines your entry doesn't meet, such as more than 6 pictures and not saying which division it's for. On to the entry, your fort is quite nice looking and the SNOT water is great! Some things you could improve besides having another look at the rules: 1) It seems as though you have Pirates fighting Knights, which doesn't really match up chronologically. If you have any imperial soldiers from the old pirates line, I would recommend using those. 2) Where the SNOT water meets the shore, it would look nice to have some white plates mixed in with the blue to give the effect of waves hitting the coast. 3) I would recommend taking your pictures on a white surface, as right now, the background makes it hard on the eyes to see your entry. You can do this by getting 2 large pieces of white paper and setting your MOC down on them before taking your picture. 4) The dock in front of the fort looks slightly bare. Perhaps you could add some crates and barrels to make it more exciting. 5) The flaming barrel is a very good idea, but the trans-red cones don't match well with the flames. It would look better to make the cones trans-orange if you have them. If this isn't a PtV entry, then sorry! But I suppose it's good advice in general anyway. I like the way your entry/MOC looks a lot and I think with a few improvements, it could turn out quite nicely!

I agree that the color choice is very strange... One must wonder what TLC's reason for doing this was. The dark green is certainly more exciting than dark grey though, albeit inaccurate.
-
I feel the same way about the Islanders sets Brickster. They are a nice change from the regular pirate versus soldiers that is the norm. I think it would be interesting to see some new Islanders sets released in the new pirate line to see how TLC would make them.

I think it will be more like $30. It seems to be a bit too large for a $20 set.

EB Community Castle Build: Discussion Thread

Don't worry, I'm sure it won't be done for a while anyway. I think a relatively basic wall design would be good, but I like the idea of having a few dark grey parts (like tiles) for detail. -
Good to hear you'll resize them. I wouldn't want this great entry to go to waste!

I'm almost positive you can do that Duck. -
You've done an excellent job with your entry Talon Karrde! The story is very entertaining and the MOC itself is wonderful. Your buildings look great and there's lots of action going on. I also love the torches you've made, and the soldier hiding in the barrel is really good! Improvements you could make are: 1) The most important thing to fix at this point is to resize your pictures, so your entry doesn't get disqualified. A good free photo-editing program is paint.net . 2) I think putting a bit more blood around the fallen soldier would be good. The blood integrated with the pathway looks great, but I think adding some more around it would be even better. You did a fantastic job with your entry and I think if you resize your pictures, you stand a very good chance at a prize!

Nice work on your entry! The use of white flowers for gunsmoke is very creative and I really like the burning sail. It also has a very good rocky cove feel to it with the enclosed rocks and beach. A few things you could improve: 1) I think it would be wise to make your first picture more of an overview of the whole thing, so it's easier to see all of it. 2) You probably don't have enough blue tiles to cover up all of the water, but if you do, that would make it look much better. 3) Where the water hits the rocks, randomly placing some white plates or tiles similar to what you did on the outside, would give a nice effect of waves. 4) I agree with Zorro that you've included a few too many skeletons, rather than normal bodies, but that's not a big deal. Overall though, your entry is very good. It has many nice details and good action, plus some nice landscaping. Nice work and I wish you good luck in the contest!

Who's the Biggest Eurobricks Geek?
Erdbeereis replied to Captain Zuloo's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I voted 3 or more hours. It might be slightly less than 3, but I definitely spend a lot of time on here, especially in the Reviewer's Academy and lately with the PtV contest, plus a lot of reading and waiting for new '09 set pics . -
My Castle Advent Calendar arrived from my relatives in Germany today. I'm very pleased right now!

Happy birthday! Hope you have a great and LEGO-filled day!

Ahhh.... The Flying Wing looks much better now. I love the new boxer's torso, I can think of a lot of uses for that!

I'm loving the way these are looking! The new Astromech is really interesting and the new Yoda and Mace Windu are very good even with the cartoony faces. Thanks a lot for posting these new pics!

Agents or not? For my birthday next month
Erdbeereis replied to Are92 RoWar's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I can highly recommend the Volcano Base. I got for my birthday a few weeks back and it's an amazing set! The landscaping with all of the lava and rocks is great and you have to love the giant laser cannon on top! It also comes with really good minifigs. The only complaint I can think of is that as you said, the inside is not very detailed. However it does have some nice computer sticker panels and it would be very easy to add some more things to the inside. Plus, it makes a great parts-pack if your into MOCing. -
In America it's also with just one r. So you may want to fix that as well Fenrir.

Absolutely amazing work SlyOwl! I'm just sorry I wasn't able to see it earlier. I'm always a big fan of your brick-built animals and these mini versions are really great. The "giant" is a very nice touch, and the dock is fantastic. It's fun to see how many creative ways you can make things mini. Great MOC!

Thank you so much for reviewing this set LasseD! I seriously hope that the rumors that we might get this set without the house are true, as it looks fantastic! I didn't realize exactly how big the turbine is and the little cottage has a wonderful european village feel to it. The way it moves is much smoother than I though it would be for such a large thing and the LEDs are a very good idea. Thanks again for the great review!

Happy birthday my fellow Fellow! Hope you had a great day!
