I'm not a very big cheese fan, but I'll list what I like. 1) Mozzarella. The real type, not processed and shredded. Unfortunately, there aren't too many companies that make good real mozzarella here in the U.S... 2) Paneer. It's an Indian cheese and I love it in curry! 3) Feta. Really good in Greek salad. 4) Queso Fresco. A very nice Mexican cheese, which is good for crumbling over things. I quite like this thread! We need to have one for other foods as well.

Hmm... Let me think. I have a cousin in Germany who is the lead singer of a very popular rock band there. My grandfather (Who also is German. I don't have too many exciting American relatives... ) on my father's side is 87 and still plays soccer, plays french horn in an orchestra and rides his bike 30 minutes with his huge horn on his back to lessons. He also fought in WWII and has a big scar on his arm where he was hit by a bullet. That's all I can think of at the moment. Nice idea for a thread!

Good entry ISC! The rope bridge is beautiful and adds a good adventure feel to the entry, plus the rocks look very nice. I also like the idea of boiling King Kahuka! In fact, I'm doing something similar in my large entry.... A few improvements you could make are: 1) I think putting bley tiles in the cave would give it a much smoother look, which is always a big plus in my opinion. 2) The palm tree on the right looks a bit awkward since all of the leaves are in one direction. The rules say a bit of overlap is allowed, so I would spread them out evenly. 3) One idea which I think would be very creative and match the entry's title well, would be to put a white cone in the pirate's hand next to the cauldron, to represent salt. 4) Since your first picture is the one that will be judged, I would take one that shows the whole thing. The view you have right now doesn't show the top of entry very well. Just raising the camera a hair from the first picture will easily fix that. ========================================================== Overall though, your entry is very good! I love the humor and the design is great as well. Nice job!

Thanks for the great review Dj! I especially like the last picture. Nice work on the background! This is a very nice castle set in my opinion. The pattern on the red wall is lovely and the set also comes with a good amont of interesting parts and minifigs. The hinging feature is very nice as well. Those yellow headlight bricks as windows is something I've never seen before in a set.... I give this set (and review) a 5/5!

Ah! Great entry Matn! It has a great smooth looks and I love all of the details of the table, especially the quill and ink bottle. The story behind the entry also adds excitement to it. A few improvements you could make are: 1) Like Mr. Tiber said, I think that adding a dead guard with some blood on the floor would add a lot to your entry, and provide good contrast to the all-brown floor. Plus, it would fill up that empty space. 2) The floor seems to blend in to the desk too much. Perhaps you could add some black or dark brown pieces on the desk for detail, which would also provide some more contrast. 3) I'm not sure that I love the trans-green cone as the ink bottle. I feel it would look much better if you were to use black. ============================================================ Even without changing any of these things, you entry is fantastic. It has a smooth look to it, a good story and nice details which give it a great chance for a prize! Nice work!

Halloween Review Finale: 4766 Graveyard Duel
Erdbeereis replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for that wonderful review Brickster! I didn't realize how good this set was in the spooky department. The design of the large grave and outbuilding is actually very nice. Great job on your Halloween reviews. -
I voted for BaronSat as well. The design of the building is great for such a small space and the idea is very creative. Wonderful work everyone!

Nice work Furious! Enjoy your prize!

You don't really need a lot of pirates sets to have cruelty. For example, if you have some sort of pistol or cutlass, that could be held up to the shopkeeper's head. And in the street, you could have a body with some trans-red plates around it for blood. But even without a lot of cruelty, your entry is still magnificent!

I really do like your entry Tinn-Man! The cobblestoned path is beautiful and so is the market stand with all of the fruits. A few things I would improve: 1) The pizza really doesn't fit in too well, I would recommend removing it. 2) It's not very cruel. One thing that would greatly enhance the cruelty would be to have a pirate holding a gun up to the shopkepper's head, and a dead body laying in the street. 3) Your pictures are quite grainy. It's probably because you resized them too much. They can be up to 800x600. 4) The faces could look a bit meaner. Great work on your entry! I think you have a very good chance.

I believe ketchup and mustard. And the brown is actually red.

I actually meant to put the existing figs in positions of more action. But more pirates certainly won't hurt! Can't wait to see the finished product!

So far this is looking great Lt. De Martinet! I absolutely love the rounded wall and the cannon smoke is very creative. I also love your dock, as it has a good angle and looks very realistic. A few things you could improve are: 1) Since this is a battle scene, I feel there should be some more blood and bodies laying around for us bloodthirsty members! 2) Making a few more people running around and in action, would enhance your entry's excitement. 3) You may still change this for the final post, but adding a story behind your entry makes it much more interesting. 4) In the finished product, you should make sure to include some close-up pictures to see all of the details. So far, your entry is looking fantastic and I can't wait to see the finished product!

Why are the boxes different?
Erdbeereis replied to ???theriddler???'s topic in General LEGO Discussion
The Hoth Rebel Base and Sith Infiltrator that I got a few weeks ago off of U.S. S@H both didn't have the piece count on them which I thought was interesting. Perhaps they came from a European warehouse? -
That looks quite a bit better! I really love the skeletons on the ship and the sea monster is disgusting but lovely at the same time! I think removing the front mast, or moving it further back would be good so you can make the front sail larger.
-
For the front gap you were talking about, maybe you could make that front sail a bit larger, so as to make the gap smaller? As for the back sail, frankly, I don't think it looks all that bad. But I definitely think that the reason it looks a bit awkward, like Grevious said, is that it's so high compared to the other sails.

Great entry Lego Joe! It really made me laugh! The way you made the different layers is very nice and gives the effect of descending into the sewers you were going for. The look on the soldier's face is priceless! A few things you could improve are: 1) The sewer looks a bit too clean. It would look much dirtier and sewer-like if you were to add some trans-green, brown, and black pieces randomly strewn about. 2) Your toilet design is great, but I would maybe recommend changing some of the brown pieces to white, so it looks more like a toilet. Or were toilets wooden in those days? If so, disregard the last comment. I'm not an expert on olden day toilets. \ You've done a wonderful job with your entry! It captures the feel of the contest while still retaining great humor. Fantastic work!

CONTEST: Pillage the Village - Terms & Conditions
Erdbeereis replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
I think you're asking where the voting thread is for the PtV contest. It doesn't exist yet! The contest ends on the 30th of November. Hope this helps! -
That's looking like a great entry Lord King of Everything! It took me a long while to get the sails right for my first ship as well, mainly getting the length and width right. What I ended up doing was printing out some of the sails in the index here (I think they were from the BSB), and trimming it down to the right size. The I took that template and cut it out on cloth and then punched holes in the corners so it would stay on the mast. Unfortunately I'm not an expert on where sails should go, that's probably a job for one of the CP staff, as most of them know their way around pirate ships!
-
Haha! Great and humorous entry Hinckley! I loved seeing all of the sig-figs in action and the white marble building is lovely. The front of the ship has a nice angle to it and also has great details. The only thing I would improve would be: 1) Where's the smooth water!? It certainly seems as though you would have plenty of blues tiles to SNOTify the water for that all-important smooth look. Even with that, your entry is beautiful. I think you did a great job on this.
