  1. Very good work on your entry Etzel! The tower has a great weatherbeaten look to it and the heads you've chosen for the minifigs are excellent. The amount of overhang I think is fine, but you should certainly ask a mod to be sure. The only thing I can think of to improve is: 1) The colors on the roof are a bit mis-matched. Personally, I think it would look better all red or all black. But that is a very minor point and I think you've done a great job with your entry! Good luck!
  2. Nice work on your entry Vadim! I really like the foliage and SNOT water always gets a from me. A few things you could improve are: 1) That knights helmet really doesn't match the Pirate theme very well. Like Zorro said, making it a bandana or conquistador helmet would be much better. 2) Interspersing some white or light blue plates with the regular blue would give a nice effect of waves lapping against the shore. 3) The pirate's head looks a bit too friendly for a nasty pirate. I would make it something more evil looking. 4) If you add a bit of a storyline to your entry, it would make it much more interesting. I like your entry very much and hope you do well in the contest!
  3. I like it! Good idea and execution Fenrir! The little buried section looks great and I like the mounding on the sand to give a buried effect. One or two things you could improve on are: 1) The sand lacks excitement. Putting something like a crab or seaweed would add a lot. 2) As Zorro said, the pirates' faces look a bit "standard". Changing the to something more menacing would be great. 3) Adding some gems by the chests would create a little variation between the treasure. Those pirates are very picky about their treasure! Even with these minor things, your entry is very good and I wish you good luck in the contest!
  4. You've done an excellent job on your entry Majek! I must say that it's my favorite small entry so far! The colors are very vibrant and the idea is very "creative"! Like the others have said, the banners on top look excellent and really add a lot to the entry. Improvements you could make are: 1) The one dark grey plate and round grey plate in the path look a bit out of place. You could either add a few more dark grey plates to give it more balance, or you could use solely light grey. 2) Adding a parrot to the top of the palm leaf would look great and match the colors used in the rest of the entry very well. 3) The silver stud that's meant to be a coin looks a bit too much like the path. It almost looks like he picked up a piece of concrete and is trying to pay with it. Changing that to a normal LEGO coin would look a lot better I think. Other than those minor points, you've done a fantastic job with this and so far, it has my vote!
  5. Very good idea for an entry Fenrir! The different torture devices you have made are very cruel and creative. I also like the rocks you've made on the exterior, I think they add a lot. A few things you could improve on your entry: 1) The brown arch on top of the door looks slightly out of place, as it's not holding anything. I think it would look add a lot of spookyness if you were to add some vines hanging down from it. 2) This is one case where adding some blood would greatly benefit the entry. Perhaps you could add some around the skeleton and by the pirate with the sword. I know that would intimidate me! That's about all I can think of at the moment. You've done a very good job with your entry, and I wish you good luck!
  6. Your beach and SNOT water is excellent and rounded tower and arches look great as well. I especially like the transition from water to sand and the different levels of height. A few improvements you could make are: 1) I would like to hear the story behind the entry so I can figure out exactly what's happening. You could make a small introduction before the pictures. 2) Most of the minifigs are castle, which is a bit confusing as this is a pirates contest. If you don't have any pirate minifigs, you could just use some that have a grungy mean look to them. 3) While I really love the ship, it's way too small for the minifigs in proportion. You could perhaps extend the water and make a bit larger ship. 4) The few areas where you have tiles on the fort look great, so I think it would be much better to put grey tiles on the whole top of the fort. 5) Adding a title to your entry would probably help attract more intrest. 6) The rounded section of the fort seems a bit unfinished, as there's not really anything on it. I think a small cannon or something like that would be great. You have a beautiful entry that with a little fixing up will be even better. I think changing a few of the things we've mentioned would benefit your entry very much, and give it a good chance in the contest. I wish you good luck!
  7. They aren't at $50 already are they? I'll have to check my Target one of these days.
  8. That's my picture! I didn't know what the reasons were for not putting the piece count on boxes, it's very interesting. For some reason it's always us in the U.S. that have these weird laws.
  9. Very good improvements! The cannonball smashing the wall looks lovely! I still would like to see some tiles on the water and the black bricks changed to grey or dark grey though. Other than that, wonderful work!
  10. Very good entry! I really like the idea and the heads you chose for the MOC are very fitting. My favorite part though is the "flower of blood." That's a brilliant idea! A few things you could improve are: 1) Putting grey tiles on the walkway, the top of the fort and blue tiles on the water would make the entry look much better. 2) As it is now, the wall lacks character. Putting in some details, such as some dark grey tiles on the side or even just mixing in some dark grey bricks with the light would enhance the excitement. 3) I would have a bit of blood flowing down in the water for a greater effect. 4) You should change the black bricks under the fort and also the inverted slopes supporting the fort to grey, so as to match the rest of it. 5) Adding something small to the pathway like a barrel or crate, would improve it a lot. All in all, you've made a great entry that with a bit of improvement, can turn out even better!
  11. Here's a picture of mine. The only thing you can't see too well are the plain white legs. I look forward to seeing your project!
  12. Happy brithday guys! Hope you have a wonderful day!
  13. Mine is now up. Very nice entries so far guys!
  14. A Spooky Night.... Here's my quick entry I made. Nothing too special, but I'm fond of it! "One night on the last day of October, a man walked through a graveyard unknowing of the frights that lurked within...." Thanks Eurobricks for yet again hosting a great contest!
  15. I like that design change quite a bit, as I think a wider catwalk would look better and give more room for minifigs to walk around if they please.
  16. You need to resize your pictures so you don't get disqualified. Here's a tutorial on this. Resizing tutorial I suppose since the blood is string it's allowed, but you might want to ask a moderator just in case.
  17. I think black would be a good choice, as it has a good variety of pieces to choose from and most people have plenty of black.
  18. I agree that an entry doesn't need massive amounts of blood to be great. The way your entry looks is just fine!
  19. Welcome to Eurobricks! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself!
  20. Happy birthday Castle design master Thrash! And happy birthday Thomas B as well! Hope you two have a great day!
  21. I'm in this position as well, as I don't have too many light bley pieces. I would assume it's alright to mix the two since not all real stones are the same color.
  22. That's a beautiful ship... The custom hull is magnificent and the details on the back are wonderful! Thanks a lot for posting this Zuloo!
  23. Very nice improvements ISC! I like the way you did the water, as it's different than what most people do, and the use of the new Castle maiden is brilliant! Great work!
  24. Last time I checked there were no more ISD's at my Target, but I've not been there in a few days. This would be good news though!
  25. That layout looks really good I think, the design of the keep is very satisfactory. I love the way your Wizard's Tower turned out Sandy! I think I'll start on the Bakery first to get my bearings. Again, thanks a lot ISC for organizing this and thanks Thrash for the really clear design plans!
