Why couldn't you just upload this to the first topic you made? Another topic really wasn't necessary... Anyway as for the ship, was it your idea or was there any sort of inspiration from the EU and films? Also, what's all the trans-orange on the bottom? What's the function of the ship, and what's the space along the top for? :-)

Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Starwars4J replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well to be honest, it will work to a limited degree. A few people with money to burn will pay for the site. Similar to how LUGnet works, there are people who will pay, but not as many as who would be there otherwise. Other free AFOL picture-hosting services will pop up, and slowly Brickshelf will whither and die. Then there will be a bunch of smaller image-hosting sites up, which will work fine, although more annoying in the fact that they're separate. Following that, maybe some time down the road there may or may not be a merger, to bring about a true successor to Brickshelf. I'm sorry to say IMO this won't end well for Brickshelf. -
Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???

If he just ASKED for assistance, I'm sure enough sites would have donated enough to keep this going. He had no reason not to at least give us some advanced notice about this. I don't know about you, but I'll be migrating to a free site... -

Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Starwars4J replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well Troy just seems to be going at it again, using the same knowledge that we all have. Of course the pictures are safe, we all saw them not 5 hours ago! I'm sure that a reasonable solution will be found, but I'm really hard-pressed to listen anything that he says after that last post of his. And Jinzo, if life has taught me anything it's that this probably has something to do with money :-/ Maybe he closed it up so that he could sell Brickshelf, so that there'd be higher demand from people who want to save their pictures? It makes sense to me... -

Honestly Troy's comment was just way out of line. To start insulting people over whatever personal reasons he had for defending Kevin's methods is elementary at best. You'd think he'd be able to express himself more like an adult, but to go around like that is just...sad. I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for everything that has happened. Whether or not that reasonable explanation shows Kevin in a good or bad light is left to be seen, however I really doubt at this point it's anything positive. I just really hope that someone capable will be taking care of Brickshelf if it's salvaged. The fact that all the pictures are still there shows us that it's salvageable. It's just a matter of seeing how much Kevin wants to screw us over... -

Now you see, I would make a memorial MOC for brickshelf, but I would have no place to upload the pictures to |-/ -
Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to make that typo, last night was just crazy (as you know) :-$

Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Starwars4J replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This was put beautifully, Jinzo. It really has pissed me off to no end to have some people, for some personal reason or another, defending these actions to the death, even going so far as to call others names, with absolutely nothing backing them up. This whole situation has gotten ridiculous! If Kevin couldn't keep this going, he should have given it to someone who could. If he wasn't up to the responsibility, he shouldn't have started the site. There were a million things he could've done, the least of which was offer up a warning. That would have cost him no time and no effort. He badly, badly dropped the ball on this one. At first I wasn't sure if this was deliberate or not, but clearly there is no sane option left but to believe this was. -

Well I think this removes any doubt about whether or not it was intentional. A solution arises and as soon as it's found out, it's shut down as well. This behavior is disgraceful and absolutely backs up everyone who was rightly ticked off. -

It would seem so. I think some people who have been screaming at members over being annoyed is going to owe them an apology... -

brilliant! thanks :-) -
To be honest, *vader*'s Thundercats customs are gonna be far better than anything they could crank out anyway. There isn't too much in the way of sets either, it would be a less popular, more shortly lived theme than Batman...

Why can't you mention BPZ? :-D I mean I assume that's where you're talking about... Yeah, maj has been mentioned as an alternative (though people will be scared to use that, since the sister site was deleted with no warning. It was a horrible business move, because now the one remaining site will have a lot of pissed off users, and users just scared to use it at all! Other alternatives are things like flickr, which I really dislike. It's too slow, and makes wading through a lot of pictures a chore. Besides that there are things like photobucket which has two of the same problems flickr had: non-lego and fairly slow loading times. Hopefully this will bring the fan community together to create another site, another version of brickshelf, that will remain online as long as there are AFOLS, and enthusiasts in general. And you never know, there's always the chance it will come back! I know you put this here because it was a reaction to the front page, but I feel the subject is much more pertinent to the lego hobby, so I'm moving this to the General forum :-) And thanks for your input!

Jinzo, you gained friends. You gained experience and building knowledge. And you've had a lot of fun. Pictures mean little. You can rebuild. You can make better things. And you will. Right here with us :-) -
Ever since Brickshelf went down earlier today the general community has been in a panic. Some were curious, and some were angry. Mostly people just wanted to know if it's permanent. I urge everyone to just sit back calmly and wait to see how things unfold. New member Dryw Filtiarn has mentioned that the staff of Peeron.com have been just as confused as we are. Right now we don't know what happened, we don't know if it was some sort of attack on their servers. We don't know if it was intentional. We don't know if it's some other small problem. And most importantly we don't know if it's permanent. While I urge everyone to backup whatever pictures they have in case this is permanent, I also urge you to keep a calm head, and remember the possibility that this was temporary. No, this wasn't a prank. No, I'm not happy about it either. But if this was an accident it will be okay, and I beg you to remember that. Even if Brickshelf were to go down, it's not the end of the online Lego community. EB would be here tomorrow, as would all the other AFOL sites. The 2008 sets will still come out, and the hobby will persevere. Brickshelf was a vitally important tool, and if it is gone, it just means we'll have to start again. It's not the end of anything, I promise you that. The site may not even be gone for good, heck, you may wake up tomorrow to find all the links restored! So please, try to keep that in mind :-) If Thanks, and MOC On! Edit by Jipay : In case the problem would only be technical, I'd like everyone to keep in mind that websites all have some sort of backup. So if for whatever reason your server crash, you can get back all your data. The only problem being that it takes a lot of time and efforts to manage this operation. So as stated by SW4J, just stay calm, don't panic, and everything will be fine.

Well since Summer is still 2007, it could probably go here

You don't say :-| Welcome to EB. Thanks for the information in the BS thread. Now that's the way to start membership! :-D

Well first of all there was already another topic about it here that existed first. I closed this one while snefroe closed that one. To keep one topic open I reopened the one I had closed (this one) since I could see why he closed the one he did. They're both still about brickshelf afterall. -
Brickshelf is no more!!!!!

black bart, you already made a topic about this that was moved and closed because there were already OTHER topics. There was no need to make another. Closed.
