BRICKSHELF is up again !!! HURRY HURRY HURRY!
Starwars4J replied to Brick Miner's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The general consensus about MOCpages though is that not only is it overrun by little kids, but the interface is horrible! Every time you click "back" you lose your place... -
Well I like the twi'leks, but mainly the females 8-| *wub* There are too many species that are awesome in their own ways for me to pick a single favorite though. There are still many molds for TLG to make before the license expires, that's for sure...

BRICKSHELF is up again !!! HURRY HURRY HURRY!
Starwars4J replied to Brick Miner's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Jennifer, thanks for confirming about Kevin, and for keeping us updated. I'm sure the entire community must be in a bit of a fog right now, so thanks for taking the time :-) -
Yeah :-/ Don't worry, just upload to photobucket, he can't touch that :-P Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience

Kevin, the creator of Brickshelf decided to WIPE the entire project, leaving the following message: What a f'king megablocks. I'm re-creating the entire thing in a few hours on a new image hosting site. This message will be shown on several sites. Thanks and stay with it! Edit: Apparently it was one of our own members, and NOT Kevin. Apologies on the confusion, and shame on the jerk who decided to play on the heat of the moment.
-
Ah, yeah that's what I thought you meant, sorry for the confusion! I'd rather you didn't leave your name, why bother? It will be much cleaner just to have people anonymously donate the pictures they've found :-)
-
Please note that this is not a replacement for brickshelf. This is just a way for people to recover pictures they've lost. In fact, I'll update the first post with that
-
Hey, if you check I re-created all the main folders of brickshelf that I remember. If I missed any, feel free to add them. Don't create a folder just for yourself, and try to sort them the way you found them in brickshelf :P

Hi everyone. In order to help, I've created a maj account to share pictures. Over the past few months, I've saved several pictures that really inspired me, which in hindsight was a good thing! I don't know who made what, but hopefully this would be better than nothing, no? The account located at http://s188.photobucket.com/albums/z10/AFOL_Recovery/, the name is AFOL_Recovery and the password is savepics. Why am I telling you this? Because I need your help, of course! All your favorite pictures, everything that inspired you, everything you hope never gets lost, all the pics saved on your computer that are not your own...I want you to upload them there. I'm going to make several sub-folders that were just like those at Brickshelf. I'd like you to keep this in mind while uploading, so it will be easier for people to fine their pics. Please keep in mind that this is not a replacement for brickshelf, this is just a way to recover your old pictures. If you find your old pictures, once you save them to your HD, PLEASE DELETE THEM from the maj account. I really hope this works, and I really hope you help out the community. Thanks everyone! Edit: Remember that someone else may be trying to upload when you are, and that might log you out. If that happens, just wait awhile and try again later. Upload the pics as a zip for fastest results. Edit 2: I've remade it on photobucket. Info updated. Edit 3: Due to a series of problems with people abusing the system, I've changed the password. PM me on the new log-in details. This is to prevent someone from coming in and sabotaging the whole thing. Thanks!

Community Project: Retrieval of "Lost Images"
Starwars4J replied to Berry Syedow's topic in Community
Well I don't know if I can help, but over the last few months I've saved to my computer a lot of my favorite MOCs that really inspired me. I could upload them all to a maj folder or something, and let the word spread so that anyone missing a MOC could look there -
Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Starwars4J replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
And yet you made that comment, and directed it towards me, when all I said was that he should have warned us. And this is also the first time I've heard you mention that you also thought this was so poorly handled. What gives you the right to insult anyone, Troy? If you believe it was wrong of us to insult Kevin, was it not just as wrong of you to insult us? Was screaming and yelling to the point of scaring your userbase wise or just? Was calling names mature? If you were so right, if you are on the moral highground, how come so many people are disgusted by your actions? How come so many people were appalled at how you handled it? Not on EB, but right at your very home. I believe not everyone agreed with your decision? Maybe that's a sign that you took this too personally and too far. Your actions have been that of an angry little boy who is throwing a temper tantraum that people aren't listening to his opinion. I hate to say this Troy, but not everyone does, or will agree with you. And just because you dislike what they say doesn't give you a right to take the action, or say the things you've said. -

And you also talk like you know, and yet you have no proof. So maybe you should allow both opinions to live until there's something one way or the other, instead of just censoring everything that is contrary to your 'holy opinion'. Oh yes, I had a theory, how DARE I have a theory. You called us all a bunch of vultures because we used a free site. What exactly gives you that right? I'm trying to take the moral highground? Let's see, I express an opinion that you don't agree with. Instead of talking to me about it, you BLOCK ME. Instead of trying to calm the community, you scream at them, instilling fear, and ban the only person who actually doesn't turn tail. What exactly is wrong with you that you can't sit down and have a nice, civil conversation? Why must you ban? Why must you lock? Why must you run away? First of all, I think you're the one who doesn't know the difference. You made a personal attack on the entire community. Who in god's name do you think you are to do that sort of thing? Not only do you owe me an apology, you owe one to every single person on classic-castle and LUGNet. -

Starwars4J replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes Troy, we all know they haven't been lost. We saw them up earlier when the secure log-in was found. Actually I believe I said I wouldn't post in that thread anymore, which wasn't a problem since you locked it after you told me off. Actually it was talked about on the Bricklink forums that it was going pay, and was I wrong about that? And excuse me, Troy, but since when is expressing an opinion on something that I consider to be an atrocity worthy of being banned? I expressed an opinion that was different than yours. Instead of just dealing with the fact that my opinion differed, you had to sink to calling me names which was childish and inexcusable. Honestly I don't care who you are, if you start flinging mud at me, do you honestly expect me to just roll over and say you were right? You were insulting and out of line. Period. Firstly, leave Eurobricks out of this. This has nothing to do with my position here, I would be appalled if you talked that way to any user. And if you insist on making this about Eurobricks I will step down from my position as moderator. And in case you didn't know, similar statements are being made on every single lego-related site on the internet. Maybe there's a kernel of truth to them? Even if not, I'm allowed to express how I feel. Except we've all seen that isn't the case. And if he is, god bless him, but I will not allow my right to have an opinion become infringed upon by someone with an ego-boosted power trip. You insulted me. You could have contacted me via PM and tried to talk this out calmly, but no, you had to stoop to elementary-level mud-slinging. You could have been calm and reasonable, but you had to be irrational and mean. I don't know if that's how things are done at classic-castle, but that's not how humans behave. At least not adults. You stepped out of line, admin or not, to insult me, as well as everyone else. You in fact made that comment on Lugnet before I even posted on classic-castle, and yet you refuse to see the absolutely disgusting thing you did, to insult us. You had no right to, under any circumstance. And then not to even contact me about it, but just to lock and ban me? Could you give an explanation to that, Troy? Yes it will, but not by mad censorship and blind insults. -

I actually used that reference the other day and nobody got it :'-( I can always count on you, Hinckley *wub* On topic though, this sounds like quite a large undertaking. Are you guys actually considering it, or bouncing ideas off each other? -
Well I never had one, thankfully, and I'm 21 :-D Definitely helps your collection. Most people have some sets from their dark ages that they really regret not getting.

Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Starwars4J replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Indeed. Like I just told another member, I'd sooner leave EB than let this cause any sort of problems, so I'm hoping there aren't. I recanted that story as a person, not a mod. I don't think Troy is a bad guy, I just think he was really stressed out, as a lot of us were. Hell, I was stressed out too. -
Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Starwars4J replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well let's not go name-calling now. That's what I disliked from the start. While I disagree with what happened, I don't want to stoop to name-calling. I was highly offended at what was said, and apparently he was also highly offended at what I said about being highly offended :-D So let's just leave it at that. I just had to say something after hearing how "level headed" he was though... -
There's already a topic about it here. Remember to use the search button :-)

Problems with BS / Is BrickShelf no more ???
Starwars4J replied to john cleese's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm afraid I'd have to disagree there, glyman. Firstly Troy is just speaking from the same knowledge we all have, the pictures came back up, and therefore they must be safe, despite brickshelf being down. Also, level headed? This guy was the one who called everyone who was upset a bunch of "whiney vultures". In fact apparently he's an admin over at classic-castle. He called us all a bunch of whiney vultures (followed by 'I expected better from you at c-c"), to which I took great offense. I asked him to rethink that because those were harsh words, and that I disagreed. He told me that he would not rethink them, and re-emphasized exactly why I am a whiney vulture. Apparently this man cannot discern between "whiney" and "angry". I followed up saying that he should still probably not make such general use of that, as anyone who used the site freely, according to him, was a whiney vulture. He then proceeded to continue with his horrible attitude, berating me for "being negative when we don't even know it's permanent" (totally ignoring my posts of "IF it's permanent"), and then closed the topic, getting the last word. The next day every single person at c-c who was pissed suddenly would JUMP on anyone who said it was wrong of Kevin, and that he was totally in the right. Apparently their loving Troy scared their entire userbase to death. Either that or the "well he's the leader so he must be right" syndrome kicked in, and turned them all into mindless drones. Again I expressed my dismay at it being turned into a pay-site, and I was jumped on again. I did, however, ask the member not to call me "stupid" for my opinion, and you know what? He listened. And it became diffused very easily. Now I had sent Troy a PM stating that I felt he was not only out of place to insult me like that, but that abusing the userbase is way out of line. Similarly, I said that while he feels I spat on Kevin, I felt he spat on my entire career as an AFOL by calling me a "whiney vulture". He continues to berate and belittle anyone who argues otherwise, by the way. I then sent him a second one immediately after saying just to forget it, and that I don't care for an argument, and just wished that he'd be more careful about insulting people over something like this. Today everything was fine, until I log-in and randomly find myself banned. That's right, I've been banned for the first time in my life, because I had the "nerve" to disagree with an admin. That's something about EB, you're allowed to disagree here. Hell, lively debate is encouraged. And if someone feels an admin insults them, they're allowed to say so without getting a ban and no explanation. This whole ordeal has severely embittered me towards that website. It's also shown me two things. Firstly you're not allowed to have your own opinion if it differs from that of the staff there, and secondly you're not allowed to stand up for yourself if you think you're being treated unfairly and verbally abused. "Troy" has one hell of a power trip and needs to get a grip that everyone will not agree with you 100% of the time. Forums are here to help spread ideas and bring people of differing points of view together. If you want just your own point of view, best to record yourself talking and play it on loop all night. -

I would be very careful, birdie. What you did might border on harassment. If you have a direct way to get in touch with Kevin, sending him an e-mail isn't always a bad idea, however contacting him through work might be. You should probably stay away from that kind of communication, and stick to e-mail and the like. Similarly don't call him :-P Also, try to type more than a couple of words per line, you'll get a nicer response most of the time that way ;-) -
Infinitely better! Thanks for re-taking the pictures, now I can actually see them :-D These are really nifty little things here, I always love swarms of MOCs. I'm jealous of how many treads you have! These things look strong, fast, and tough! Nice job :-)
-
Ah, I see. I love the shape, but I do think it could do with maybe some engines on the rear (if it has a rear) unless it flies around on it's side? but then the lasers would do no good :-D

I wish I could see more of this to comment on! Remember it's never a good idea to just say "bad quality pics" and post them. Taking a picture of your MOCs should be a fairly involved process, and it doesn't matter how great it is, unless you can show us, so we can comment on it! My suggestion would be to try to re-take these, as it's hard to see or say much of anything. I notice you keep getting the background in-focus, that means you're not using Macro on your camera. Make sure you are (read the instruction booklet that came with it to see how to do it on your specific one). Also remember to have ample lighting, day light is the best.
