  1. Now THAT is fantastic! Excellent job :-)
  2. I'd do many things for this site, Jipay, but registering for a Megabloks forum isn't one of them ;-)
  3. Blasphemy! :-P I don't like Star Trek, but I know good work when I see it, great job Athos!
  4. Actually Dill, I'll make an in-depth tutorial with pictures on how to make and use a Brickshelf account. I have to run to class now, but I'll be back in about two hours. I'll make it then. I hope this helps in the meantime (and hopefully I'll get my circles right by then ;-))
  5. Happy birthday you two! I hope you have a fantastic day
  6. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate...leads to the dark side. And off-topic leads to this getting moved to community :-P
  7. Why not just make it life-sized while you're at it? :-P
  8. Well...almost *cringes at the fleshies* Maybe it yellow tone, I'd have to replace all the hands/heads though :-D
  9. This isn't an Exo-Force only forum :-| Though this would better go in the Space Hanger, or Multimedia.
  10. We need a playset version of the Tantive IV. It would make perfect sense, especially with the cameo in Ep 3...
  11. You guys have to understand, usually people with very low self-esteem do this kind of thing in order to make themselves feel more important than they are. It's a power thing. Ignore and it will stop ;-)
  12. One heck of a typo. Not a big deal *sad* Great MOC, the fig perfectly captures his spirit.
  13. Unfortunately I think they would steer clear from anything of actual historical significance. Sure we have Wild West, Pirates, Vikings, etc. but none of those themes are actually historical in nature, not based off of actual events, names, people, places. That's part of the magic of Lego in my eyes, and I think out of everything they change, that will remain the same. Besides, basing sets off of ANY wars (WWII aside), even the revolutionary war, civil war, I doubt that would be a smart business move. I mean in every war, there was a victor, and a loser. The sets most likely wouldn't sell as well in the nation (or parts of a nation) that lost the conflict. A small portion would buy some to make their side win, maybe, but the parents would probably avoid buying them for their child, and probably look down on Lego as a bad choice for their children for a long time to come. Okay, some things have been done before in a similiar vain, but Lego has a history of not having history. They base things off actual events EXTREMELY loosely, and I would bet anything that they will continue to do so. Maybe they'll have more lisences, but they'll definitely never recreate actual events. That being said, ancient events where either the nations involved are no longer around, or the facts have turned into legends, are still fair game, and I could see (and hope) TLG doing sets based on more ancient settings. Roman soldiers fighting bandits? More mythical creatures? I don't know, they could even have them facing people from Troy or something. Does it have to be perfectly accurate to history? No, besides, records from those times aren't nearly as complete as those from WWII ;-)
  14. Er, I hate to tell you, but if you thought 39.99 USD was bad...it's 49.99 USD :-/
  15. Steve Irwin died earlier today, instantly from a poison barb through the chest while offshore making a documentary. Sadly, his wife is hiking through mountins, and still hasn't been notified. Mr. Irwin was a great man, who fought for the rights of animals, and the purity and sanctity of our world, against the corruption of the world. His death truly is a tragedy, and he will be missed. Please, a moment of silence?
  16. Honestly Matt, I can't say for sure as I've never done it. Maybe one of our MCN reps would know, but to play it safe, you could just apply it around the seam and hope it weakens it enough for you to be able to separate them manually.
  17. Ah, I see now. I just ran back inside to check the MF, and lo and behold it was still there. After running it under some water, it still wouldn't come off, whatever it is, and seeing as how she hasn't left the box since I got it (aside of 5 minutes for the review) it came with the fig. I don't know what it is, but I'm having a difficult time with it. It may be glue, but it looks more like ink of some kind *wacko* To be clear, I mean like splotches, not anything printed. I honestly have no idea what it is, sorry :-/
  18. Another question :-) Is the torso of the queen different from the other figs in the set? I don't see a difference at the pictures, but maybe I'm wrong. I was hoping for a lady viking, but it seems there aren't any in the set *sad* I'm afraid not :-/ Dirt? There is a little glue peeking out from the seam As answered, the KK chess set is not glued (there may have been some complaints or a lawsuit? I see no other reason to change it now...) As for the rest of the Queen, she's totally normal aside from the torso/skirt glue. Head, hair, cape, arms, and hands can be removed.
  19. Well, it's REALLY nice, however I'd try to smooth it out just a bit. Now this isn't space and I'm not suggesting a SNOT-laden MOC that's all smooth, I mean minor things. For instance, the cross-shaped window on the church, under the 3x1 arch, maybe instead of a 1x1x1, use two 1x1x1/3 plates, with a smooth 1x1x1/3 plate on top to get rid of that stud. The landscaping looks really nice (a feature I need to work on!), but for the cemetary gate, could you change the 1x1x1 tan cylinders to dark grey? This is inspiring me to take some shots of my castle-ish WIP ;-) Great job, keep us updated!
  20. Sorry for the late wishes, but I hope you had a great birthday!
  21. I agree. The horns need to get thicker at the base, the helmit needs to be more pronounced, and maybe making the orange a little thicker, but I can see this turning into a very fun-to-use smilie >:-)
  22. No, sorry if I wasn't clear. All shields can be removed. What do you mean? Are the swords glued, or what? Thanks anyway. You warned me about this -stupid- thing Lego did. Shakar Nope, the hands aren't glued, I was just noting the way the weapons were placed in the hands of the minifigs Yup, though it is annoying No, besides the queen, all minifigs are completely normal. Edit: Sorry Berry, I missed your question! I believe if you find a glue solvent and soak the piece in that you should be able to get the pieces undamaged. It's possible, just inconvenient ;-)
  23. Well, I know it's been awhile since my last review, but now my Uncle is home and easier to care for, so here we go. Set #4499577 Piece count: 179 Ages: 6+ Price: $49.99US So I get the set yesterday and I have to say, I thought I'd be a lot happier than I was. Not that this is a bad set, not at all. Apologies in advance for the rather poor lighting. I'm home for the next week, so I don't have my normal setup. I had to take the pictures in my mother's office (she's a pediatrician) where there was the best available lighting. First off, the box It's actually really nice. It gives a very realistic impression of wood (albeit blue wood, but let's not get too picky ;-) ). The quality isn't QUITE as good as that on the Knight's Kingdom Chess set, but it's still pretty good. They kept the two leather buttons on the side to keep it closed, and it has the exact same layout inside as the Knight's Kingdom chess set, right down to the velcro-attached chess board. Here are all of the pieces layed out in their fit-plastic holders: They all fit well, and securely. All figures have the weapons held in the hands faced right-side-up, except for the Bishop and the King, who both have the hand upside-down in order to get the pose correct. Since the blue side was so highly anticipated, let's start with the blue Pawn: Simple but very effective. Face works nicely (that face just deserves an axe), and the colors go really well with the fig. Next up is the blue Rook: Nice design, it definitely is better built than that of the Knight's Kingdom. Unfortunately, the whole thing is glued :'-( The only part that isn't are the bley lightsaber hilt torches. The blue Knight: Exact same as the Knight's Kingdom version. Simple but effective. The blue 2x2 plate is also glued :-X The blue Bishop: Duel-wielding power-ranger swords works pretty well here. As mentioned above, the hands are reversed to achieve the pose. The blue Queen: Simple face. Nice dark blue cape ( *wub* ). Wielding a two-sided long-axe. You don't want to mess with her ;-) Sadly...her torso is glued to her "skirt" The blue King: Typical viking chief face with a typical viking chief weapon and typical viking chief golden helmit. What's not typical on him, you may ask? Another blue cape *wub* His sword-hand is reversed for the pose as well. Now we're on to the reds! First, the red Pawn: Very different from the blue side, these pawns are very organized, very regal. It's probably the red ;-) Next, the red Rook: Really, REALLY well built. I love the designs, I just wish they weren't glued :-| Even the white horns are glued...everything except the shield. P.S. the top is hollow The red Knight: Same as the blue one. The red Bishop: Same as the blue one, but again, he looks much more regal. The red Queen: Same as the blue Queen, with a black rod instead of the reddish-brown one and sans the cape :'-( Same glued torso and everything >:-( And finally, the red King: Same as the blue King, but it works much better (even though the red cape isn't as elegant as the blue one...) The whole board set up: From another angle: Bah, it seems the peace negotiations failed... 8-| I have to say, I LOVE these shield designs: Red Blue But especially the red. Now to rate. How exactly CAN you rate this? This isn't a regular set, but let's try anyway ;-) Minifigs: 10/10 Pieces: 5/10 (10/10 for accessories, 0/10 for parts due to the glue) Playability: 10/10 Total: 8.3~ Great parts pack. Fully stocked minifigs in uniform colors and outfits in great numbers for a decent price (about $2US/fig). I'd say this really is a must-have for any fan of historic sets (not just viking) as the weapons, faces, and torsos can be used in many ancient army themes.
  24. Wonderful! A few questions: Is the checkerboard completely glued? Will you review the set? Could you kindly identify the faces of the blue side? How does the Viking carrying case compare to the Knights' Kingdom version? (If you own it.) I'll gladly do a review. I wasn't sure if people would want one or not, as it's not really that much of a set, but since you do, sure. I do own the KK chess set, and I have to say, there's significantly more glue in this one :'-( The following pieces have glue: Queen (torso to base, this surprised me the most) Rook (completely glued except for minor aspects like a torch) Knight (just the 2x2 base) And yes, the board is completely glued. The faces for the blue side are: This for the pawns This for the King This for the Bishop And while I can't find the picture on Peeron, the head of the Queen is a standard smilie with some pink lipstick. This face is new to Vikings, but I have another one of these from somewhere, I just can't remember what theme. The faces of Bishops, Kings, and Queens are the same on both sides, only the pawns differ. The Viking carrying case is nearly identical to that of the KK one, except the cover has a different image (replicating the appearance of worn wood), and the texture feels a bit cheaper. Otherwise packaging is the same, and it's still very nice. I'll take pictures and have a review up hopefully in the next few hours.
  25. I just got my copy of the chess set in the mail yesterday. I have to say, they really stepped it up on the design for the rook. They both have a powerful design, especially the red side. Great faces (gotta love the dark blue capes). If anyone has any questions I'd be glad to answer them about the set
