I'm after trains and modular hourses. I also try to get some old sets MISB, namely those I wanted so much but never got as a child. Well, I sometimes need quite a lot of money for LEGO. I often think the same way you do. Sometimes I must really restrain myself. By the way, the new pirate ship is also very tempting for me.

If you really want 12V stuff, don't forget that you don't really need 12V train wheels for all your creations. The train wheels that are in production right now will run on 12V tracks nicely; the gauge has always been the same. This means that you can also add 9V and (future) PF waggons without any problems.

Ideas for TLG going more "green"
legotrainfan replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
TLC could produce more means of public transport: a tram and an underground. And as Klaus-Dieter has mentioned, more plants would be great. Trees in minifig size would be wonderful. As for the discussion on the Toyota Prius that was going on here, I think its batteries are recharged by the energy produced by braking. -
Master eBay Auctions thread - post noteworthy auctions here
legotrainfan replied to interstellar's topic in LEGO Pirates
Amazing moc and so incredibly smooth (snot-techniques, tiles)! I also find the stop sign is a very funny addition to the whole scene. I had a look at the other two creations too. They are also absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing your good work with us! -
I normally don't. Classic Train 3225 has a passenger car among freight cars, as you know. I also use the My Own Train cars together (green passenger car plus all the freight cars of that series). I got the Metroliner 10001 quite late. I didn't get the original Metroliner for Christmas since I always preferred more cheaper sets to one big and expensive set. However, I saved money for the original Club Car 4547. It was pulled by the diesel engine of set 4563 with the red waggon with the sliding doors put after the Club Car. The diesel engine of 4563 was the only locomotive I had at that time.

In my LEGO room Caboose 10014 and Classic Train 3225 form a unit: The Holiday Train locomotive is assisted by a 10205 locomotive. Waggon 10015 has also been added: And I've already put Hopper Waggon 10017 on the end of 4512. These are only some examples. I don't care so much if this or that freight waggon is attached to this or that freight locomotive. The passenger cars, however, are always pulled by the same locomotives. At least so far. But I've considered letting BNSF 10133 pull all my Santa Fe cars but haven't put it into practice.

10196: Grand Carousel/Merry Go Round discussion
legotrainfan replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Town
I also find it pretty much overscaled. Nothing that I'd put in the centre of my LEGO town. For me it's too expensive anyway. But you have to admit there are some interesting parts in interesting colours in it. In any case, it is certainly a wonderful and brilliant collector's item. -
For me this set is outstanding. I especially like its colour scheme, but the pedestrian bridge is also extremely nice. I think I mentioned it somewhere else: I envy you because you have that set with old grey. I didn't want this set anymore when I found out that you couldn't be sure anymore if it had bley or old grey bricks in it. I have the engine shed that had the same problem, but I bought it MISB from a seller who got it a very short time after its release and could thus gurantee that it came with old grey. And he was right!! By the way, thanks for the review!

Ideas for TLG going more "green"
legotrainfan replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
TLC released a Volkswagen Beetle, so they could also release a Toyota Prius. For those who don't know it: Prius is a hybrid car that uses electricity for slower velocities and petrol for higher speed. A hydroelectric power plant would also be a great thing; a dam holding back water. But this is unrealistic. It'd be a very big set and is thus left for people who are into moccing. Since I'm a train lover, I'd simply say: Release more trains! Trains need electricity and no petrol, so they are "green." Agreed. I've been wondering why they use such big boxes. Big boxes need more paper to be produced and shipping is more expensive with big boxes than with small ones. -
Well, I'd love to track down some of the wonderful sets of my childhood. I was born in 1981. But I often want my bricks to be clean, unused and the set to be complete. So I prefer MISB sets, but these are often unaffordable. I do buy old MISB sets, but veeery rarely. They are so expensive! And normally the ones I buy are smaller MISB sets anyway. However, I also love the new sets. They're a good recompense for the missed old ones.

I think this isn't a proper response for this thread. I mean they're still in production, so you can still buy them sooner or later. I regret not having bought Main Street 10041 and Model Town House 4954. I didn't have enough money for them. There are other sets I'd love to have, but they were released at a time when my parents were the ones responsible for LEGO purchases; I was a child back then. So I don't mention them here.

Thanks for the review! Concerning the price I can clear you up: Spar distributed a sheet with current special offers. In this sheet there was a coupon you could cut out. If you went to a Spar shop, you could redeem it and got that little tractor for free. That's how it was in Austria, and that's what I did.

Very nice fish market! As the others said: Everything looks alife. I'd love to see your creation integrated into a big port layout. I think this market should be placed very close to a port.

MOC: Small train station from set 4954 (model town house)
legotrainfan replied to Holodoc's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You've created a very nice train station! I think it would be ideal for a small town. Good work! -
I voted "trains," but I also belong to those who would really appreciate a "both" option to click on. For me a real town needs a train and a train needs a town. Trains and town are dependent on each other. Having one of the two things alone does not make sense.

How many BROKEN BONEs have you had at once?
legotrainfan replied to Darth Legolas's topic in Community
When I was a child, I broke my hand. I think it was the right one. I'm not sure anymore. I think it was a radius fracture, but here I'm not sure either. In the recent past, I broke both scaphoid bones in two different accidents. The first fracture happened because of a sports accident and was discovered too late. It was my right hand. Two doctors recommended an operation as soon as possible. I rejected this recommendation; it healed without an operation. The second scaphoid bone fracture was a household accident. My left hand suffered an impact that wouldn't normally be intense enough to crack a bone. But I had a small crack in the scaphoid bone. It's ok again. Later I found out that I had fragile and sensitive wrists that were badly supplied with blood. No tragedy. It has improved a big deal since I started tackling that problem. Edit: Oh, I forgot to say that that crack in my left hand occurred when my right hand had not yet healed completely. Annoying! -
Completing my B-unit: 5 tiles for the roof are missing. Completing my dome car: I don't have the bricks to attach the upside down construction between the wheels. And I don't have bricks to create a nice interior for the waggon. Completing a gondola and a hopper waggon: I don't have the necessary bricks to complete them. Finishing the conversion of my 10157 set with bley bricks to a set with old grey bricks. 2 old dark grey control panels are missing; that is all. There are old grey bricks in my 4511 set, so I want that 10157 and 4511 have the same colours. Having 10157 with bley bricks and 4511 with old grey bricks is an aesthetic crime.

Would you like to live in a life size Lego set?
legotrainfan replied to AgentRick's topic in Community
In the Green Grocer, I'd say. It's a big comfortable house with a nice interior. -
Wow, that hotel of yours is really absolutely stunning! Must have cost you a fortune to get all the necessary bricks!

A nice website for LEGO trains is railbricks. Just click on it. But in general I'd simply check eurobricks regularly. We discuss a lot of train related matters. And no, I don't think there have been any new rumours on future PF trains since the Emerald Night came out. Again, I can only recommend checking eurobricks itself. If there are rumours, they are always discussed here.
-
I think the way you've organised your brishelf folder is a good way to present your sets. Your brickshelf folder provides a very good overview. It's not confusing or anyhting.
-
Nice layout! I especially love your Emerald Night! I wish I had that level crossing! You seem to have been lucky. You got it with old gray bricks.
-
Good question! I've also been wondering why there's no print on the blue torso with white arms. The absence of print on that torso is the reason why I first thought that set was a fake. But for me this torso with no print creates a feeling of nostalgia; it reminds me of the LEGO era when quite many LEGO minifigs had no print on their torsos. If this was done on purpose since a steam engine also stands for nostalgia, I do not know.

Thanks for providing us with a review of all three models of that set! For me this set is outstanding. I want one so much, but, as you said, they're so expensive on eBay and bricklink. I'd be interested to know why TLC discontinued this set so quickly whereas the other creator house (the white one with the red roof) can still be bought.

When I was 9 or 10, I can remember that our teacher allowed us to bring as much LEGO stuff to school as we wanted. I can remember how my 4563 set stuck out. I didn't bring so much to school. Just the oval, some straights (I didn't have so many straights back then) and the diesel engine alone without any waggons. I was afraid of losing elements in school. Well, my very small oval with straights 9V layout was surrounded by lots of 12V trains and endless 12V tracks. I borrowed some waggons from my classmates. They were pulled by my diesel engine. Same gauge, you know. Quite convenient.
