  1. I'm disappointed. I was hoping that something of the size of the Vestas windmill was coming in another set. The windmill of that set (7747) is too small for my taste. Real windmills are extremely big. So the Vestas windmill corresponds much more to reality.
  2. Depends on the elements you purchase. Train plates are still cheaper at PaB or if you phone the customer service of TLC compared to the same elements from bricklink. The same is true for other train parts. So despite the price increase, PaB and the customer service remain an option to bricklink for me though it - as I've said - depends on the bricks you need.
  3. Happy birthday to all of you!
  4. Happy birthday to you!
  5. If some of you want to boycott PaB because of the price increase, then do so if you feel this is the best way to go. I myself just phoned the customer service to order some bricks yesterday. (Don't know if that also counts as PaB in the statistics.) But TLC has still some elements that I would have to buy from several bricklink sellers, which means I'd have to pay a lot of shipping costs. My order at TLC includes the windscreen of the car in set 1380 and a train plate 6x24 in old dark grey (Yes, they still have old dark grey train plates!). And these are elements that are difficult to find in one single bricklink shop. Especially the train plate is pretty dear on bricklink! Anyway, I hope the employee of TLC who answered that mail saying that there was a mistake with pricing is right.
  6. I phoned the LEGO customer service and ordered several bricks for various projects. My order ranges from ordinary bricks to train parts. A bit of everything, I'd say. Some of the bricks are going to be used for my dome car, which is still work in progress.
  7. I voted for choice 2 because of the TAXI STOP.... no, just kidding! I voted for 2 because of the monorail as everyone else. A comeback of the monorail would be more than wonderful! Couldn't a poll be added to that thread to visualise what people voted at that internet site? Would be interesting! I'm curious to know. Just a suggestion.
  8. I just noticed the huge price increase with some train elements like the buffers and the bearing element 3x6 as well as the prepack with 4 axles for the bearing element. That's really insane! That price increase has made the train hobby a dearer hobby than it already is.

  10. I've just bought some bricks from a German bricklink store: [New] Light Gray Brick, Modified 2 x 3 with Curved Top (x9) [New] Light Gray Brick, Modified 2 x 4 x 1 1/3 with Curved Top (x5) [used] Light Gray Hinge Bucket, Brick 2 x 3 Curved Bottom, Hollow, with 2 Fingers (x1) [New] Light Gray Tile 1 x 1 with Groove (x1) Three of the four types of elements I need for my dome car. There are only few bricks I still need for that waggon after this purchase. The hinge bucket is needed to replace an element of the same colour and type, which was lost many years back.
  11. Depends on how big the 9V locomotive is. With Santa Fe engine 10020 or the Metroliner you may be able to do it since they offer much space to integrate PF stuff. But with engines as the one of set 4563 Load and Haul Railroad, it won't work. Whether you can turn RC trains into PF trains, I have no idea. I have neither of the RC trains and cannot judge how much space they offer to integrate PF parts. With the highspeed train it might probably work. The green RC diesel engine might be too small.

  13. Does anybody know if the connector of the 9V speed regulator, which leads from the wall socket to the speed regulator, can be used as a charger for the PF battery box?
  14. About the advantages of 9V: The energy needed to get your 9V trains moving comes from the wall socket. This source of energy is endless and you don't have to recharge anything. That is the main advantage. And the 9V motor was much cheaper than the whole PF stuff to motorise a PF train. As for the RC trains, the freight train looked really good. But I didn't want to buy it anymore when I heard a new system was going to come. Concerning the PF trains, I don't want to curse them at all. I'm waiting for some reviews of the motorised version. Even though I said that the 9V motor was cheaper than the whole PF stuff, you must admit that the tracks for RC/PF trains are not as dear as 9V tracks. So there's a lot of saving on that side. And for me Emerald Night is a must-have, by the way, and it is backwards compatible. I'll run the thing on 9V tracks, either with a 9V or a PF motor; preferably the latter since 9V motors are becoming rare.
  15. I bought Market Street last year in December, and some 1x2 and 1x1 bricks are not as earth blue as they should be. If you buy Market Street, don't hesitate to complain if you find some colour variations. I complained and got some bricks as replacements for free. Seems that TLC has not yet tackled the colour probem successfully.
  16. An outstanding set I really loved to play with endlessly when I had bought it. I love the colour scheme of the boat and the propulsion system as well as the motor. Indeed, the torsos are only white and nothing special, but I don't care since the complete front part of the torsos is covered with the life vests anyway.
  17. When I was between 12 and 14-years-old, it was mega out and uncool to be a LEGO fan. When I had completed that school and started a new school at age 14 still, it wasn't a topic any more. Now I say that people should mind their own business. It's my hobby and I love it, and that's all there's to say. I don't advertise either because people seem to be irritated when they hear you're a LEGO fan. But my parents know I love it, and my brother and sister do so as well. There are 3 people among my friends who know it too, and they don't make a fuss about it. One of the three says I'm a big child, her sister - also one of the three - says I should sell it, and the third one recommended selling my stuff too. But they don't keep saying those things over and over again. They don't seem to care that much.
  18. So some of you had computer warnings after checking that site as well? I got a warning, saying that I had a myriad of trojans. Downloading SpywareRemover2009 was suddenly recommended. I was irritated and let my antivirus programme check the computer; it deleted four files, so I thought: Where's the rest of the trojans? I became sceptical and googled for that spyware thing. What I found confirmed my scepticism: the spyware thing tricks you into downloading it, making you believe that your computer is threatened by trojans. But only by downloading it the real damage is done. So I hope no none of you has downloaded it!
  19. That's what I also assume. If the flexible tracks were the only types of tracks of that system, this would mean that switches wouldn't be available any more either. And what's a track layout without switches?
  20. Interesting article! But I must admit that I like the robot 6951 very much. I don't have it, but I'd love to have one, preferably in MISB condition. As some others here, I prefer new bricks to used ones. I love the design of that robot. Don't ask me why. I don't find it looks odd; I believe it looks so amazingly special! Just a great set!
  21. On brickset people are discussing the catalogue scans of a member. They show the remaining PF train stuff including their prices in British pounds. Especially the battery box is pretty expensive. Click here and click on the pic to make it larger.
  22. For me this set is outstanding! There are even two boats (one boat plus one raft) for both the soldiers and pirates, and I find its overall shape awesome. Nice review, by the way!
  23. It would be wonderful to have those alternate builds on the back of the boxes again. As a child I loved staring at them, but only rarely did I build one of the models. Idea books were a great thing. I have only one, but I also checked the on-line instructions of some other idea books. No idea why TLC doesn't produce them anymore.
  24. The maintenance crew responsible for water pipes are never there when they are needed most! Very nice scene! I was also expecting a big scene depicting a catastrophe, but this little scene is just as nice! A very unique way of using the wizard's hat, by the way!
  25. I've just noticed that problem. But I also believe it's going to be fixed soon. Nothing to be scared about. As Captain Green Hair says: just give them their time to fix the problem. Asuka, your picture is absolutely hilarious!
