  1. Wow, this rivals the Mines of Moria regarding the amount of stickers....
  2. Thanks for the review. I voted "poor", in spite of some great minifigures. I like the similarities in the outfit of the two elves and think Fili is really well done. Not a fan of Kili's "beard", though. The rest of the set does nothing for me. I think it's great for kids to play with 4 minifigures and two big spiders and I suppose there are some good parts. However, as somebody looking for "displayability", this set is hardly worth 50 AUD (52 US$).
  3. Thanks for the review! I voted "above average", due to the wargs and great minifigures. I'm glad that the nose printing on the white warg is less vivid in colour than shown on the CGI picture (at least I hope it is based on this review. Thorin will receive a small blue cape which will fix him in my eyes, and Bifur is simply awesome! The rock piece reminds me of a launching space ship and I'm not a fan of the tree. I realise the obvious difficulty in designing organic structures with LEGO, particularly regarding the necessity of having some space for the dwarves to stand on. Still, the red colour around the flick-fire missles hurt my eyes, and the amount of foliage seems too small compared to the size of the trunk. Competition for nutrients from the mushrooms and insufficient photosynthetic capability? It doesn't look good for the poor tree. But then, it's about to be set on fire, so it's a moot point to argue.
  4. In case anybody was hoping for printed maps in "An unexpected Gathering", I'm sorry to disappoint you. Here's an unboxing video clearly showing the maps to be "stickered" :(
  5. Elrond wears a long cape in the Video Game, too. Disappointing to get blatant lies from customer service instead a simple apology. Oh well, I guess the small cape will look good on Thorin.
  6. Oh, that's disappointing. :( But thanks for the reply!
  7. Thanks for the review, Just2good. I have a question regarding Tauriel's daggers: Can they only be held that low on the handle by minifigures? It looks awkward since the largest part of the handle is sticking out between Tauriel's hand and the crosspiece.
  8. Yes, Thorin's hair piece - a few pages back in this thread.
  9. Australia's EB-Games does not list the Elrond fig as preorder bonus anymore. I preordered some weeks back and hope to get it, but I'd double check if you plan to preorder.
  10. The official website has been updated, now featuring all sets. The character descriptions for Oin, Gloin, the Mirkwood elf chief and Mirkwood elf guard have also been added. And, of course, three new atmospheric photos. http://thehobbit.lego.com
  11. Looking at these goblins remind me that Peter Jackson once directed "Braindead". They look disgusting! As for their LEGO representation, I wonder if there will be battle packs. Otherwise, they only occur at the Battle of the Five Armies at the end of the book, and having the LEGO great goblin ruling over <5 goblins seems somewhat pathetic. The scribe is played by the actor who was the scale double for Frodo in the Lord of the Rings (I don't know his name and am terrible when it comes to actors, in general). Regarding the orcs, I wouldn't be surprised if they were from Mordor, or at least the same breed (in fact, I'd be surprised if they hailed from elsewhere). It would tie in the storylines of the Hobbit and the Necromancer. Although, as you speculated earlier, Yazneg and co. could be allied with Bolg from the North. This could explore the revenge storyline somewhat but wouldn't contribute to the overall plot of the movie, as far as I can tell.
  12. The armour faces the other way around in the designer video and product page, thus not covering up the chest. Have you tried it? Maybe it would look better.
  13. Cool, thanks for that. I'll have to check if I can get it cheap. Edit: Just found the figure on eBay. 8.50 AUD including shipping for the US. The hood might be useful, too, and the lightsaber can go to a SW-collecting friend of mine. Thanks again.
  14. Thanks, Hawkman! Fives, I remember somebody mentioning (a few hundred pages back) a short blue cape in a Star Wars set. Do you know which set/ figure it is?
  15. Can you fit a cape on Thorin? I'm thinking that I'd love to give him a grey one (in absence of a blue cape) and would love to see if it fits and how it would look.
  16. The Frodo & Ringwraith set could be a good opportunity to introduce an invisible Frodo minifigure.
  17. The LEGO Lord of the Rings site now includes a quiz on each set. If you get all 5 right (a piece of cake even if you're not a big LotR fan), you get a movie poster (old posters just at a very high resolution) to download. Some of the answers are funny, but if you just want the pictures, here you go: Frodo: http://cache.lego.com/upload/contentTemplating/TheLordofTheRingsTeaserMap/otherfiles/downloadE6397EC14E53B3D799A22E646CF1B963.pdf Aragorn: http://cache.lego.com/upload/contentTemplating/TheLordofTheRingsTeaserMap/otherfiles/downloadB229C568E32C8F0A8D4F91CCBC24386F.pdf Legolas: http://cache.lego.com/upload/contentTemplating/TheLordofTheRingsTeaserMap/otherfiles/download22CD63B887609F6170E4A5234CE8D58E.pdf Gollum: http://cache.lego.com/upload/contentTemplating/TheLordofTheRingsTeaserMap/otherfiles/download168BCE78FE485A8D1F82D70FD4591071.pdf
  18. To add something to Radagast, here's the first preview of the soundtrack, "Radagast the Brown". If there won't be an official LEGO set of Rhosgobel, I'll have to CUUSO one myself. :) Edit: Pasting the link would be useful.... here it is http://sidiview.tumblr.com/post/35021768864/radagast-the-brown-howard-shore
  19. That would makes sense in terms of location and tie in with events of the Lord of the Rings - War in the North video game.
  20. I'm with you on that! Pure speculation on my part, but I think that the picture is actually the balrog as it will be released in brick form. There is no connection to the video game (i.e. not Traveler's Tale or video game logo), and the secret nature of the picture suggests to me that this is an actual preview. Of course, the lighting scheme will be way off, and I'm not sure that it'll look as impressive in real life.
  21. Thanks, Kez! I am no really confused regarding Elrond's cape. The picture posted previously in this thread showed a short cape - and so does the artwork in the desinger video. However, the bag and the actual figure in the video possess a long cape.
  22. My most wanted for 2013: Rhosgobel, coming with Radagast, lots of birds and whatever is attacking him in the movie. Picture of Rhosgobel (obviously movie spoiler) http://www.henneth-annun.ru/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/radagast_rhosgobel.jpg
  23. The Book of Westmarch is included, however.
  24. Thanks for posting. Looks like Sting is absent from the picture. Or is Bombur holding it? But then, there'd be a knife missing compared with previously seen pictures. I was also hoping to find some gold or jewels in Bilbo's treasure chest.
  25. Here's a picture of what a brick-build ent would look like (from the video game) http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/9090_440809882648606_133076920_n.jpg
