  1. Very nice ship! I especially like the shaping of the draconic figurehead. I don’t care for fleshies, but appreciate that not everyone is a yellowist. If I may make a small suggestion, perhaps a mid-blue background instead of a green one. Also, shouldn’t the rowers be facing backwards?
  2. Exactly right! In fact, that was pretty much my point on the first page of this thread.
  3. Well, that’s me disappointed. I was really looking forwards to the next minifigure series including a junkie, a hooker, and an axe murderer with a collection of bloody body parts. (Just kidding! )
  4. Cool! I especially like the Command Centre. If someone had told me that that was a genuine LEGO CS design from the late ‘70s/early ‘80s that was never released, I would have believed them. Captures the feel of CS very well.
  5. Could Smaug be the best dragon LEGO has ever done? I haven’t taken mine out of the box yet, but when I do, I’m planning on giving him arms, too. I already have the spare dragon forelimbs and will attach them with Blu Tack so I can position them. If I change my mind, it will allow me to remove them.
  6. Very nice! But how did the water get up to the higher level? If it was brought up there, pooled and released, won’t it run out very quickly?
  7. Thank you, @Grover. Very kind of you to say so. If you or anyone else would like to copy my dragon, please do. I only ask that you credit it to AmperZand and if you post pictures online, you include a link to this thread.
  8. Thank you for your kind words. Appreciated. You might like the other carnivorous plant minifigures from my collection. The tree stump one recently appeared in a Brickset article.
  9. @TeriXeri, I respect your opinion, but I'm not crazy about the forthcoming Ninjago dragons. Sensei Wu's dragon has a head that is too small and blocky, and limbs that are too chunky. The skeleton one, the Skull Sorcerer's Dragon, has a head, forelimbs, hind limbs and tail that look too much like white musculature, not like bones as they are supposed to be.
  10. Firestar Toys in the UK sells the printed BF centaur bodies for between £7 and £9 plus Royal Mail postage to European destinations. Not cheap, but probably less than ordering from the US. For the time being, the transition arrangements mean that there shouldn't be any duty to EU countries. Personally, I prefer the unprinted equine parts to the printed ones and have two in my display collection and three in reserve. But that's just me. Maybe I'm weird.
  11. If you mean the ones pictured by @Aurore above, I very much agree. I wasn't planning on getting the castle though and the minifigure only comes in that set, so will be difficult/expensive to obtain.
  12. @Daniel-Technic, To @Grover’s point, Really Useful Boxes are made of polypropylene, so completely fine.
  13. LEGO itself provides (or used to provide) parts in resealable LDPE bags (not in sets, but through Bricks & Pieces and at LEGO stores), so that should indicate that it’s safe. Besides, I have been storing parts in LDPE baggies since 1993 and it keeps them as new. For the last 20 or so years, I have also been using Really Useful Boxes within cardboard boxes or opaque plastic bags: so box/bag -> Really Useful Box -> LDPE baggy -> part. All my parts stored that way are in perfect condition.
  14. I get that. And I can see that some (many?) will really like Grawp the way it is. But to me, it's not aesthetically pleasing. It's angular in the wrong places, has holes in its thighs and face, has light bley shoulder joints (@MAB's point), is bitty along its arms and is covered in stickers. It should have been moulded and printed. If required to keep the cost down, I would have been OK with static legs (i.e. a single piece for its torso and legs) with articulated arms at the shoulders and wrists (with new R and L arm moulds) and a new head. If all that had added £5 to the set's cost, I would have been fine with that. Oh, well. I have already waited over 25 years for a cool LEGO fantasy giant. I suppose I can wait some more.
  15. This. I don't know about other AFOLs (apart from ones who have posted above or who MOC at microscale), but I very much enjoy seeing pictures of builds at that scale. My collection is mostly minifigure-centric and I only have one microscale build in my display collection, Poe's X-wing. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate microscale. @astral brick, I think your Classic Space microscale MOCs are inspired!
  16. I saw that over at Brickset, too. The centaurs are great even if you’re not into HP (I’m not) and the tree is fine. Don’t like the giant, Grawp, though. Already looking to divest myself of it once I have the set. Won’t even be assembling the parts.
  17. I will be parting out Forbidden Forest: Umbridge's Encounter (75967) as soon as it is released and selling the parts and stickers for Grawp the giant plus the Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Dolores Umbridge minifigures with their wands. See picture below. All mint straight from the box, never assembled. Pet-free, smoke/vape-free, mould-free home. UK buyers preferred. Interested? Make me an offer by PM.
  18. Thanks for your kind words, @TeriXeri and @Ravelino. Appreciated! @Ravelino, I completely agree that ball joints should be available in other colours. My dragon would be better if its joints were red.
  19. Interesting idea! Looks like it could be a monster from anime/Studio Ghibli. It has that look about it.
  20. Cool army and castle! The blue and green colour coding of the regiments is a nice touch. Can we please get more close-up shots of the troops as well as the castle’s interior?
  21. Not place, but people names. There’s Clutch Powers and in the 2010 ‘Clutch Powers’ movie, there’s a character called Arthur Fol with ‘A. FOL’ on his work name badge. A self-aware reference that could be used as part of a person’s or place’s name is ‘blocks’. There’s a LEGO magazine called ‘Blocks’.
  22. Or what about ZYEGO: LEGO zombies doing yoga? What’s not to love about zombies doing yoga? Seriously though, if your figures had realistic articulation (ball at the shoulder, hinge at the elbow etc), you would only need one figure for all positions. You would just need to put it in the right pose. Also, you could obviate the issue of representation by using yellow instead of flesh tone colours for the skin.
  23. I'm with Jang in thinking that the dragon in Kai's Fire Dragon (71701) leaves a lot to be desired. Sure, it's a '4+' set, but even so... Still, I bought the set. For one thing, I like the design of the ninja minifigure, Kai, and the side build. More importantly, I was drawn to the parts for the dragon's head, torso front and legs. They deserved to be part of a much better dragon. So I MOCed this, a hybrid Eastern-Western dragon: It's meant to be an actual dragon, not a mech as Kai's dragon is, I think. What the pictures don't convey well is its size. I didn't set out to create a dragon that was particularly small or large, just a beast that had its parts in proportion. In the end, it came in at 12" (>30cm) long with a wingspan of over 12" (31cm). The wings were inspired by/modded from the phoenix in Flinx's Ultimate Phoenix (70221). The rest is MOC. I don't normally give MOCs names, but I have dubbed this one Redux after the word 'redux' (presented in a new way/revived) as it is just that, a 71701 redux, and also a play on the 'Red' in 'Redux' because of the dragon's dominant colour. Questions? Comments? Quivering at the prospect of being this guy's lunch?
  24. Thank you for the pictures. I was wondering about the new sword’s size and your photos really help. ? As I suspected, it’s too big to be used routinely in one hand and I’ll be treating it as a two-hander, i.e. a longsword, the 14th-15th c. weapon which was mostly used with both hands (not to be confused with the fantasy weapon by the same name). That does mean I’ll be dispensing with the shield, at least for this knight.
