  1. I'm certainly tempted to buy a Smaug to make a "How to Train your Dragon" takeoff.
  2. Neats. Ours didn't have the Shopping Mall, just the Rescue.
  3. Mulan is part of the "Disney princess" label though. I heard both are being coronated. They will be the 12th and 13th princesses in the line
  4. But its pretty easy to change out the minifigs. The builds themselves are worth the price. (A DINOSAUR!) I wish I'd been able to get more than one!
  5. He mentioned it -- he didn't have the parts to add a stud for the chemist. Why would pinks and purples poison one's mind? They are just colors. Even colors found in the natural world! (Flowers, fingerbeds, burst blood vessels under the skin) Legogal: What kind of scenes do you see for these? Oceanologist -- a fig in a snorkeling suit with a whale? Maybe "hung" with some sort of thread to make them look like they are swimming. A zoologist -- would look either like a farmer or put them with a microscope and a animal in a cage close by? Physicist -- My experience of physics was mostly doing calculations on paper. Maybe a ball and slope? Or something else to represent forces?
  6. OOOh. What's this?
  7. And the boxed stuff sticks around longer. I think the boxed stuff may be a better choice for this reason.
  8. Any thoughts? Is that a new part for the air balloon? Or has it been used somewhere else? It is looking very plastic and not fabric-ish here. And there's a boy in the air balloon set! Any thoughts on the bird in Emma's house. Is it a retread or a new painting on the mold? See any other birds?
  9. You can find MUCH better bargains for Duplo on Craigslist and such places because the demand is less.
  10. I've seen Series 5 at Toys R Us. Bought the Macaw this week (they only had 2 of the 3 animals left)
  11. I just got Macaw's Fountain and saw the upcoming Elves bird. As well, I LOVE the IDEAS bird set and am really hoping it wins. So I decided what I want to do is a little "All birds, all the time" display. From what I can tell, the Friends birds out so far are: Macaw in set 41044 Macaw's Fountain Parrot in set 41024 Parrot's Perch Yellow bird in set 41059 Jungle Tree House Upcoming white bird in Elves See anything I am missing?
  12. Maybe it is not Lego's goal to avoid criticism. But, rather, to design and release successful products for segments of their chosen population, regardless of the criticism they receive for it? Since they are releasing a second line of Disney Princess sets, I have to believe they have seen at least some success. and I fully expect to see the Frozen Castle fly off the shelves.
  13. And Emmet's car!
  14. Is the skeleton in the smallest set (79015?) glow in the dark?
  15. US Folk! I saw Series 5 animals at Toys R Us last night! (Went to see if the new Hobbits were there)
  16. They remind me more of Tinkerbell and her ilk. And that's probably how my daughter will play with them since right now she's fascinated with Tinkerbelle
  17. I just saw the picture of what appears to be a car -- and it has a gas pump in the background!
  18. They are gorgeous and make me wish I could see the pictures better! I'd have fewer forums to visit if there were a Minidoll forum! Because I do find myself more interested in the minidoll sets than the run of the mill stuff now. (except for Hobbit. And Train. And Winter Carousels...) OTOH I am attracted to more sets because I see them wading through these forums for the stuff I'm most interested in :)
  19. There were plenty of Olaf and Elsa scenes in the movie. She made him and then she gave him his personal cloud at the end so he won't melt and then the ice skating scene.
  20. I was at my local Wal-mart last night and they had several LOTR and Hobbit sets on their clearance rack. Black Gate was $30!!! They had 5 copies there. A TON of Dol Guldur Ambush (Only a small markdown) And 1 of the Laketown Chase, again on small markdown. 2 of the Hobbit House but I didn't see a price.
  21. This actually makes a lot of sense. As a little girl, I LOVED the minifigures -- but one thing I did with them is name every one and write out little pieces of paper with birthday, likes, dislikes, etc for each one.
  22. You underestimate how many sets children buy/have bought on their behalf. At age 6 (when we first bought Legos for my son) he got $50-ish sets from two different aunts and uncles for his birthday plus we purchased one at that level. Then he bought two more $30-ish sets with birthday money he got from other relatives. And two or three more smaller sets. Before age 6, he got the Lego truck from an aunt and uncle. He went to a friend's age 6 party and EVERY gift that kid got from his party guests (except for ours) was a $30-ish or more Lego. and it was a park party -- not Lego themed at all. My son has been to same-aged friends houses for playdates who have much more extensive lego collections than his. In fact, I get the feel we may be on the small end and we are probably lower middle class around here. (Though with richer relatives who have few children to shower their generosity upon)
  23. My daughter would love Tinkerbell theme! We just found the movies and are devouring them Agreed. I keep forgetting about Disney Princess because I don't go to Licensed as much. but I kept hearing rumors around the forums about Elves so did a search to find this thread.
