  1. Can the crane be rotated by a turn handle at the bottom by any chance? Or are the gears for aesthetics? Seeing this has made me want to design my own crane, and I'm thinking I want to be able to make it rotate by a turn handle at the bottom. And possibly be able to make the winch go up and down too... I think it's an excellent and kind thing you've done by the way
  2. Those smaller loops are rather genius! I am totally impressed by that!! I feel I will now modify my set to include one of those as I feel it is the only thing missing in the roller-coaster set and that achieves it in a nice size too. Excellent! Shame you dismantled it :(
  3. Too many people get hung up over ppp and don't consider that's not the be all and end all of pricing of the sets. Yeah it works OK-as a guide. Aanchir, you've done a good job pointing out how it's not actually as bad as people think. They just see a higher price, a few more pieces and jump straight on the band wagon without looking at the whole picture. The set leaves much to be desired in terms of design from my opinion, but it's definitely not lacking value.
  4. I actually like it right how it is. Gives it a sense of belonging purely to that bay, and a more sense of 'this is all for vaders Tie so he can communicate with whoever he needs to instantly rather than using comms to get through to people. Definitely adds more to it being his personal hangar.
  5. This looks really good! I like it a lot! Instantly what popped out to me is the yellow. It is a nice accent, and different, but I feel for the walls the yellow could be replaced with white, and under the 1x2 grilles on the floor, red would look better, maybe the dark red, but yellow doesn't do it for me personally. However! I love the walkway above the Tie, showing how he gets in and out, the computer station is nicely done. Doesn't look over the top nor too minimal. The wall greebles are just the right amount too. And finally, it's a nice clean and smooth looking build. Great job! *edit* One thing I just realised, nothing major... But... That platform where vader climbs into his Tie from... Where does it go to? It looks like he'd walk out into space I'd be tempted to put a platform also along the entire width, or have it going off to the right so it looks like it goes somewhere more potentially life sustaining
  6. You studied economics? So how can you say something as absurd as - pay this for the roller-coaster and expect to pay higher on the next modular! Do you know exactly what goes into legos pricing strategies? I mean exactly. So please do break it down for us with your study of economics? If you studied economics, you'd then also understand why they pay $1500 a month in some areas. It'll be in areas where they are up market, with well paid jobs and a nice area. If you did actually study economics, you wouldn't be spouting such rubbish. Just because you study something doesn't mean you're any good at it. I work with a lot of 'mechanics' with many years 'experience' that shouldn't go near what I work on. Back on topic, I simply 'like' it. Of course, I'll like it more I the flesh, but I'm feeling like it's missing the glorious external tiny details that add so much to the style. But then it's a garage. What average garage building really doesn't look basic and more functional than looking grand? I don't like the lack of floor tiles, especially in the garage section. Definitely needs grey floor tiles. The upper floors look sparse of details. They're there, just don't seem to be as numerous as previous. But what is there, is still nice. I like the colours, and it's nice having pieces available in colours that were price restrictive before due to rarity of use. I do wonder (as seen in paupadros' corner moc) if snotted cheeseslopescould have been implemented in the corner gaps to reduce the size of gaps...? Something I'll look forward to trying to reduce when I get it. I also think the gas pump adds little and takes up too much room. I think it may have been better to extend the garage out more to be bigger, allowing for a not so cluttered ground floor, and perhaps still could get away with the upper floors being as they are. I don't normally plan to modify the modulars, but this one I'll likely do that to see how it would be, and because I think it could have worked better. Fair play to the designer for pushing the boundaries though! You can't make omelette without breaking a few eggs.
  7. I'm more believing the lego ambassador, I think an extra week would mean at this point, something would end up being leaked
  8. No it didn't, nothing escalated. I explained why there was confusion and pointed out why there was confusion due to the response which didn't answer a simple question.
  9. I understand how people were confused when a simple question of 'picture or words' was asked and the response is 'I don't know'. Well, pictures and words are extremely different and everyone knows the difference between them... Being this close to the reveal, I'm now actually hoping absolutely no leaks occur and it gets revealed by TLG. It would suck for someone to spoil it this close. I feel I'd end up more disappointed than anything, I'm actually looking more forward to the official reveal than just finding out what it is by someone saying 'oh it's a pet cemetery furnace modular' kinda thing.
  10. This is really good! Loving the brick built bucket! Engine bay is a nice touch too. A nice smooth build
  11. It's not so much as a budget for me, than it is a specific line of sets I like. I was at a point I was getting sets just because I liked the look of them so bought them. Ended up with the whole line of TLBM sets. But saw all the boxes and realised I'd lost control! I didn't actually want them, I just bought them because I thought they'd be nice to have, and blue cause I could. So that stopped. I'll likely get any fairground sets, and modulars released. Star wars ucs is next but depends if I like it or not. Winter Village is guaranteed too as I'd like to have it as a yearly thing to build/set up for Christmas if/when I have kids. Outside of that, I've become quite strict. I may get the odd one off random, like the ninjago city /docks, and gbhq. I keep almost getting the most recent system scale tie fighter, but I have the last normal one too, as well as all the other variations so I'm telling myself I don't need another. (I may have got the x wing though-oops!)
  12. What with the music emoji at the end of it, i'm thinking someone was onto it when it was mentioned about the rock band The Police (with Sting). I wonder if it actually was a cryptic clue and everyone took it for face value and perhaps its actually a record store/music shop perhaps with a recording studio on the top floor, with a full rock band set up or something...? I just watched a fair few of their videos, and a lot of them are in music studios or show the band playing live etc.
  13. For me, I like it but, it'd take an awful lot to modify it to my satisfaction. Not to mention the initial cost being a lot to start with. I just feel there are other things where my money can be put to better use...
  14. I appreciate your response, I respect your views too. You are right, everyone is free to donate to who or what they want to, regardless of what it is I admire your passion for it, it is easily clear to see how much you enjoy doing it. I wish you luck with it
  15. I'll give my honest opinion. I think the work is really good. And it clearly takes a lot of time, patience, skill, and I really like the look of your mocs used for it. Here is where my problem occurs. Including all the competitions you've won from WB and TLG to get your fan films featured, I see this as someone's hobby that they're enjoying. And want to finish it sooner than later, and so want the day to day responsibilities of adult life taken away/given to them, as well as cool new equipment to use, and to buy more lego. From what you've already achieved, would be a great portfolio to go for a job in the relevant industry. What happens after you've made the 10 minute film? Will your current job take you back? Will you have to look for work elsewhere? Are you hoping this film will help get your foot in the doors of the animation film world job-wise? Everybody pays for your hobby to make a short film, and then what? While I applaud you for your efforts with stop motion thus far, I will choose not to help as I feel there are more worthwhile causes requiring funding than someone to live carefree for a few months with extras, when there are people struggling to make ends meet. If it takes 2-3 years, then it takes 2-3 years. I feel this is less of a start up business idea and more of a 'pay for me to live so I can finish a hobby project quicker' kinda thing, ie; someone who wants free money because they're impatient and see a chance for a quick and easy out.
  16. I can't wait to see this finished! This looks great already with a lot of potential. The layout looks tidy, and I can't wait to see what other details you put with it!
  17. He doesn't typically make instructions for his models, none that I am aware of. I also can't imagine he would make them for it. Like stash said, best bet is to reach out to him directly on Flickr, hope he still has it built somewhere, and he may provide closer detailed pics of the finished product for you to at least attempt to reverse design it
  18. Wow! This is extremely clean and has really nice lines on it. I like the engines, and how they slightly tilt inwards, the use of the shields, all the little yellow cranes. The little micro ships are really simple yet effective looking. While I wouldn't have immediately guessed it was a salvage ship (I figured some self sustaining cargo transport--then read the story... ) I definitely get it now I know, and it makes clear sense on all the little details. I like the greebles, they're very clean, and look purposeful, not just there as clutter. Excellent job!! And it's huuuuge!
  19. Perfectly valid points, and certainly, of course the designer can do whatever they want... But for me personally, probably lacking in imagination, I really can't think how an interesting interior could be done to compliment the exterior (above moc proves exterior isn't a problem). I mean, what else would a post office have? A counter, maybe little grocery bits if it isn't just a post office, and in the back room? Shelves. Lots and lots of shelves for lots of letters. I just think there are a lot of other more interesting alternatives. That's great some people like the idea of a post office. Me personally, I dont... Perhaps it doesn't help the majority of post offices I remember going in are just commercialised business buildings with a plain and cheap interior decor. I also think I am being a bit narrow minded and applying everyday boring realism to what would be interpreted into a modular, not to mention, as mentioned above, it could only be a small portion of the build. @bricked1980 you are correct, a bank could easily be boring... Although they did make a really nice set out of it! But... Who am I kidding, if they released one, I'd still end up getting it for addiction reasons
  20. While the above post office moc looks good on the outside, I just can't think how a post office could be an 'exciting' set. 'put all the letters on the conveyor belt while the sorting guy sorts the mail. Fill the van up with... mail... Help the guy behind the counter give the customer their... missed parcel... Accessories: 15 letters (2x2 tiles) 4 parcels (2x2 tiles with 2x2 brick) Missed delivery card (1x1 printed tile) I just can't see it...
  21. This is brilliant! It gives a full ghost train vibe, from the trains themselves (very neat and fitting!) to the little scary displays, and the spooky decor of the external and internals. The externals of which look perfectly detailed, not too much, not too little, but everything one would expect to see. And the lettering is a really nice finishing touch! I wish I'd have done something like this!
  22. I do agree, I think a museum with the centre piece of a skeleton T-Rex would be awesome, with some of those side displays like cavemen in a cordoned off area (typical to the film 'a night at the museum")
  23. While I'm still undecided if I liked the chibi like head molds, I loved the sets and think it's a shame no more larger sets were made. I feel a comic store would have gone down well, even as a smaller d2c set. But they didn't. I do wonder then, how well the sets sold. I'd like to think they sold well as I feel the sets were jam packed with stuff and details, and pretty good value for money too.
  24. Is it not too soon to be getting information on the next set? I mean, we've only just got the roller-coaster released...
  25. Too close/similar to Parisian restaurant?
