  1. Anyone got any idea what time the set gets released for vip on the US site?
  2. I really like it! Its just the right size, and crouches just as intended, but looks good crouched too! Id say to go with the sitting one personally. But that's from a lack of playing but displaying perspective. If it was to be played with, I'd go with the standing. It still looks good enough with minifig standing. Excellent and fun little design! Id say the standing one should be included if the at-te ever gets released. It'd be a neat little addition!
  3. I would think it wouldn't. While its still a great set, one of the best, is large, is a new concept of function, is what a lot of people have wanted, it's still typically high in cost and doesn't have the same type of following as the UCS MF did. Nor does it have as much big hype around it for the build up to release. I'd like to imagine you would be pretty safe to go to a store and pick one up day one. I imagine it to be on a lot of people's Christmas wish lists though.
  4. I ordered the motor and battery box for the coaster already in anticipation as I guessed there will be shortages as usual.
  5. Not to mention, we have no idea how their production capability is running at. Still producing the UCS MF would be eating up a lot, as well as a lot of other large sets, perhaps they're limiting it to reduce the chance of people buying faster than their production can handle?
  6. 3-1 6-1 11-1 I need more points to give There's so many good ones, all very different too!
  7. But Tlg' design team don't cater to your, or my, or any specific individual preferences. You stating yellow tracks, would then put me in the same feeling as you do about the red. I feel red goes better than yellow would. They can't please everyone. You're right, they're not realistic models of real world counter parts, but they are representations in some basic form that suits the style of their media used. I'd prefer my fairground wasn't all uniform and the same colours, it would get boring, and bland very quick. Things would end up blending in with each other rather than standing out from each other. But that's just me, and my preferences. I'm actually happy they didn't add 'lights' because it gives us a blank slate to customise them on ourselves, as well as keeping the price down without them for those that aren't bothered by them.

  9. So... talking of what you'd like to see people do... I've been thinking i'll be trying to make a loop, in the same manner the pirate set places those 2 pieces of track together in the alternate build to create the dip. Looking at it, it'd require 6 of those curved pieces and may likely not exactly be a circular loop, perhaps egg shaped in places... but my thoughts are wondering if there would be enough flex to have the exit offset to the entrance of the loop. The next thing will then be how high would it need to be, to create enough speed to get all the way around it. In my current living situation I doubt I'll be the first to try this, but I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when someone does! I'm almost positive it's possible this way... Thoughts?
  10. Yeah, that's the only issue with 'minifig scale' is that at some point, you have to take into consideration it can't be perfect due to the odd width/height issues of a minifig, therefore, I always go with close to the size and then what looks good from there on. 4cm for the UCS falcon I'd say is perfectly negligible a difference, additionally owing to the varied dimensions of the source material itself, it's close enough it looks fine. As for the Y-Wing, I think I prefer the system scale set to consider it minifig scale, for me personally, it just looks closer to it, and the minifig doesn't look like he's drowning in the cockpit. However, I do wonder if the UCS version is more in scale with the width of the minifig... Thank you for taking the time to work it out too gvh As for the poster... I have to say, while I'm gutted I missed out on the card, I think it's pitiful as an offering considering it's not going to have been children to purchase the set, but adults (due to the cost), so at least give adult orientated promotions! While TLG are generally excellent with a lot of things, and generous with freebie promotions, I think the amount they hyped up the black VIP card- they've entirely dropped the ball on it.
  11. So it's said the UCS is about 7cm too long (and profitably proportionately off in width/height etc too), how far off is the system scale set in cm? The system scale sets just look closer to scale to me than the UCS version...
  12. It wasn't working properly because it's designed to work with the length of 3 carts, she had removed one so 2 wasn't reaching the required distance going through those tire parts at the top of the slope. Looks like they put someone behind it who didn't know what they were doing... But yes, having a down slope immediately after would eliminate the minimum requirement of 3 carts, or adding further wheels at the top would also eliminate this.
  13. To exaggerate it so it's easier to explain, imagine for a right banking track, the left side rises while the right side drops. This forces one side of the cart wheels to angle upwards at the same time the right side wanting to angle downwards, then while going round a corner too. I do wonder if there is enough 'play' in the wheels and the side drooping guides for it to be possible though, something I'm looking forward to experimenting with...
  14. People's complaining of price purely because it is high, is ludicrous. TLG are branching out to many people. Can't afford to spare the money for the large coaster set? Buy the pirate one. Its affordable, fun, not even basic-it has a good build and looks decent, yet provides enough there to keep the price down AND give you a very decent rollercoaster set. So should I start complaining I'm disappointed with all the little sets below £50 because they're not what I want because I prefer the larger sets? TLG provided you with a very good alternative. Why should people who can afford it potentially end up being secluded because there are people that can't afford the higher priced/larger items?! Too many feelings of self entitlement. So, for those that can afford the $100 sets, what about those on that can't? No one says you HAVE to have EVERY set they make. If that's what you want, work harder, get a better job, push yourself, make sacrifices. Don't cry about TLG overpricing it when it's not even overpriced.
  15. There'll be no complaining from me. These track pieces are likely the reason of the high price point, there's a lot of them, and they're not in a lot of sets, so they have to get their money back on them due to (in comparison to a typical widely used brick piece) low production. In my opinion, think people are overlooking that too much, and pointing out the 'flaw' of the tires at the top instead of a slope straight after. Its already a big enough set, adding a slope straight after means it'd be even longer, or not as high, either one likely increasing the cost significantly due to having to add the extra support structure for the track, being at its highest. This solution is cheap and efficient, and doesn't look out of place in a VERY functional rollercoaster LEGO SET. I actually feel they pulled off a perfect solution. It is Lego, adjust it if you don't like it, but to complain of it when a solution of adding a slope immediately after would increase the price further, giving you something else to complain about even more so than is being done now, I think that's unfair to them. I also think people are forgetting this is still a LEGO SET, not a scale model replica that is ensuring 100% authenticity to a real life counterpart. The designer will have had to use creative licence to provide maximum function, maximum track length, minimal support structure while still being sturdy enough to be played with, and maximum fun, probably to a specific price point. Lack of lights sure is something missing, but the amount it would require to not look like a pathetic attempt of a gesture of adding them, again, would increase the cost further. Lights are easily added if you want them. It is then your own choice to pay the extra on an already costly set, while being kept cheaper for those that aren't fussed about 'lights'. It feels like some people want everything, but for peanuts...
  16. Hahaha that made me laugh! I think it's an amazing set. Sure the price seems steep, but just look at what you're getting. A fully functioning rollercoaster set that has lots of playability, and can very easily be the pinnacle in any persons town layout. The set is extremely large, and has a lot of pieces. Yet it's main focus is pieces mostly towards the rollercoaster itself, with minimal going towards side builds, except those complimenting it. At 4124 pieces, it's still a good price considering the amount of track included. I'd been holding off on the carousel but now I'll have to get it to compliment getting this fantastic looking set! Absolutely love the video too with its stop motion part!
  17. I'm glad it doesn't include more mini stands. The rollercoaster provides the ability to have a relatively cheap and affordable rollercoaster set when we look at what we're getting. Not to mention, unlike previous fairground sets, this set provides the ability to buy it in multiples and hugely expand the set in many ways very easily. If I want small stands, the great thing about Lego is I don't have to wait for an official set, I can extremely easily make some! Id much rather my money going into a roller coaster set was for the majority, going into having as much of a rollercoaster as possible. 10 minifigures is plenty enough as far as I'm concerned, and if I want a longer coaster, it can't be difficult in any way to attach the 2 together to make one long one. The size of the set is fine. If you want it smaller, then adjust it, sell the unused pieces, you'll easily find a seller for them, and enjoy the smaller set. I think the size is perfect. A proper rollercoaster is humongous, so I'd have been disappointed (and busing many more multiples) if it was small. It should be big. I'm extremely looking forward to getting this, at least 2 for sure. I'm also looking forward to being able to make my own themed sections of the rollercoaster to go through, and incorporating the pirate coaster set into it too!
  18. What I like about this one, is you could buy multiples and could easily use all the pieces just to expand it, making one massive rollercoaster (as big as it already is!). It also has the opportunity to implement the pirate roller coaster into it as well as like, a section of the rollercoaster ride. There are so many moc'ing opportunities with this set, it's a shame there is no loop, that would really have finished it off. Nonetheless, an amazing looking set I'm looking forward to!
  19. You and me both! Im absolutely stoked about it and the potential to make it as big as we want hopefully with extra track being made available.
  20. It is the price that's holding me back a bit... I'm hoping it goes on a decent sale, then I'll nab it. The minifigs are really good too, so compliment the ship nicely, even more so when sat in one like yours! How much modification did it take to get the front horizontal wings snot bricked instead of plates?
  21. I like it, a lot! It makes it look so much more cleaner in every way. Its really making me want to just bite the bullet and buy one now!
  22. Well that's just my opinion isn't it? Just like you are entitled to yours. One small battle pack set doesn't mean they will do it again in the future, but it doesn't mean they won't either. They will do what they want to do. I am basing my opinion on the fact that one set doesn't change guarantee a change in how they do minifig line ups as juicy as that. If that truly is the minifig line up, then future minifig line ups like that, I may be more inclined to believe, and believe me, I'll be happy for that. But I'm sure you've been around long enough to realise that that battle pack was the FIRST time it's been done in such a small set, and there are frequently hugely enticing but fake minifig line ups offered as 'rumours' just to have ended up being fake waaaay too often. But we will see, won't we?
  23. It'd be great if that v19 figure line up was true and a way of them giving us a large chunk of wanted characters, but... I just don't believe that line up... Not in a simple set like that. Regarding the front of Yoda hut... There is a small technic Rick with axle hole... Is that potential for a future set to connect to it?
  24. It makes me wonder... All they'd have to do would be to put down another 'exclusive black.vip card only' double vip event and that's the special 'promotions ' done. I also wonder if TLG entirely under estimated by a drastically huge amount how many they'd have sold, hence the lack of follow up on the vip promotions as such, because maybe they think they don't have to do it as much as they've made more than they could have imagined and don't feel the need to keep the first 20 odd thousand people happy, as the people after them more than made up for it... if you understand what I'm getting at?
