  1. I like the fire escape on the front. Thanks PastVPresent for the MOC. I had in mind building something like this https://images.42floors.com/a7c7c6b339bb776903e14702c9b2097d9c7e80dc.jpg and now I have an interesting way of doing it.
  2. I like the idea of a Town Square, but a €180 set is going to be hard to sell and hard to find in Spain (and in some other European Countries). And that means pay for it an overprice in hobby specialized shops, or buy it online from German Toyshops (add shipment cost). I would prefer if TLG will spilt it in two €70-80 and €90-100 sets, because it means: more affordable buy (you can buy one in November and other in December), find them in malls, be part of the Xmas special offers,... I don't buy last Town Square beacuse I find the crane oversized to my LEGO buildings, I hope the new Town Square don't have any useless (for me) huge element.
  3. IMHO yes. And with only little customization.
  4. Don't you think, it could be great if TLG releases something like these as creator sets? How much? €50 or maybe €60 each 16 wide building? I think that I would buy them. I can accept no interiors or some simple forniture and even hinges
  5. LegoSjaak, good job. I like your version of the DO!!!
  6. Sorry for my English. I wrote my previous message trying to follow this thread, but I miss to create the quote. My intention was to say that good creator sets like coffee and bike shop could be in the line of 16 wide modular sets (or could be a first step to approach modulars to KFOLs). And, it was a pity the step backwards TLG has done with this year's toy shop and grocery. 16 wide modulars could be fine, even with the option of making it with hinges (more playable than 4 wall buildings). And the other thing that could be great was the option of releasing extension sets for the modular buildings (like Playmobil does) or going far and create ground floor shops as regular sets and then extension sets of apartments to build over the shops (an option that is better for our wallets than buying several modulars for extend the building high or wide). Talking about extending the DO buying 2 sets. Nothing to say about adding floors, but I want to see how are going to manage it the ones who want to make the DO wider. Because the dark brown part with the fire exit, it's only a 2 wall building due to the indoor floor plan. And I don't know if a double wide alley looks passable.
  7. I prefer more sets like Coffee and bike shop. It has just the size and the detail that fits with my skills. And this Christmas, I was able to buy some for aprox €50 each. A good bunch of pieces (better than the ones that come with brick and more big buckets) at a price that let my budget to buy more than one. The new Toy & Grocery Shop of this year disappoints me a lot (too small for placing on a decent level city project). I like this alternative building idea: But then I find the set, a little expensive. All that TLG gained last year using the coffee and bike shop as a first step to approach big sets like DO to KFOLs, is going to be lost if TLG don't release a similar set next autumn. I'm a 3 wall builder, due to it, modular sets disturb me a little. But, I see hinges as a good solution that let me choose between two narrow 3 walls buildings, or one wider 4 wall building. Other suggestion, I made in this post some pages before, was that TLG create some sets of 16x8 shops and then create some "apartments" extension sets for placing up the shops (maybe the future TBBT set could fit on this philosophy). Playmobil use to sell extension sets of their buildings via their online shop, if TLG thinks that an extension set is not suitable for third party toy shops, TLG can sell them only in it own shops or on the online shop.
  8. IMHO 1.- A workshop or a 24/7 shop could be more accurate than a Gas Station. 2.- Classic "Texaco" pumps fit better in a modular street than nowadays ones.
  9. My first attempt to recreate The Detective Office. Sorry for the quality of the pics, I haven't taken pics with that camera in a long time and it was a disaster (the lens were dirty, it hasn't been properly configured: flash, fixing shaking or taking pic in macro mode. As I have said, it's my first attempt and I have done it quickly with the parts I had more closely. In the next attempt I would try to recreate the half stud windows technique, improve some botched jobs that I had to do when I was short of some pieces. And of course, I will work harder in the indoor decoration. I try to make it the more LEGO purist that I can, but I have to recognize first that I want to use the front columns from wange (I try to avoid LEGO Technic because I don't like it) and the sluban roof cornices because are more alike than the flat LEGO inverted slopes. The rest of non LEGO pieces that you detect, are used because I haven't enough LEGO pieces in a properly color. All suggestions and comments are welcome.
  10. PR costs €160 in Spain ($200 with today exchange rate) It is a great set but a bit expensive for my pocket. If DO costs the same or more (yearly prices increment) for me is very very very overpriced and definitively out of my wish list.
  11. I have bought four 31026 for €41.50 each in Spain (thanks to some coupons and discount). It's a bargain because the average price is €70
  12. If they have seen then little shops between €20-€30 are a success, why they don't create some for city line. Boys likes more than bikes and cycles. Why not a comic shop, a video games shop, a litle corner food shop where to buy soda, chip potatoes,... A food truck could be another interesting idea, a place with arcade machines,.... I hope TLG read this, but if they thing the best for the company is continue including this kind of sets on Friends, we have not other option that buying and MOCing Friends sets for our cities.
  13. I have rescued it from the German online shop that now has retired the pics The swamp police station http://www.pinterest.com/pin/395542779746604496/
  14. My favorite is this one: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/372532200400490399/
  15. The first Friends set I saw was the Laboratory, full of details and I though Damn, Why LEGO didn't launch something like this in city? This year TLG launched the jungle theme, and comes to my mind the Adventure and Faraon Quest sets. I know that the market is more segmented due to the licensed themes and the addition of gender segregation. It's a pity but the golden years of LEGO Town are only a nostalgic part of our past. But nowadays Toy offer goes in the same way that LEGO is following. I think that except few exceptions gender segregation is a fact, and aisles for boy are full of fire engines and police cars and aisles for girls are plenty of pink, purple and dolls. Modulars are expensive, but for the number of pieces, the variety and the final result, worth it. Arctic sets liked me at first but when I saw them built they deceived me and plus taking the prices in count. Creator sets are a lottery some ones are wonderful like the last bike and coffee shop, but others deceive when you compare how much you paid and how much you get. The same with the piece buckets. I know that for kids is hard to moc, and moc something that have similar level to original sets. And they see the "pink" and not the possibilities of a Friends set. But AFOLs are lucky, we have a lot of set with interesting pieces for made our mocs of cars and building in creator, super heroes,.... And we have no problem for going to a shop and buying a "girly" set if we see interesting pieces on it.

  17. I think this one is perfect to Dorayaki http://www.familienshopping24.de/Juniors-Strandausflug
  18. There are buckets for $15-$20 with a front face house a minicar and a minifig. For $10 more TLG could give the house some volume. LEGO FIRE EMERGENCY 60003 costs $40. Change the truck with a 4 wide car and give some interior deco to the house and maybe you can have an interesting city set for only $30. TLG could be creative and could launch some little shops like proposed at CUSSOO for $20-$30. Launching some interesting buildings for $20-$30 is possible. TLG could make them "modular" or apilable (a set of a house floor that you can build upside the set of a shop) and depending of your budget you can make the buildings more o less high.
  19. It's a quite difficult to build a minifig scale modern car (4 or 6 studs wide) that could be recognizable if you use only standard LEGO pieces (without entering in the license paying issue to the real car manufacturers). Smart was one of them due to the simple lines of the model. Police and firemen cars look alike quite modern but them aren't representing an specific real car. Construblock built a realistic modern car using specific pieces, but without using any real car as reference (for avoiding licenses). Other like Airfix and Megabloks opted for reproducing real models using specific pieces and paying the respective licenses. If you go to a high scale there are on the net great MOCs of modern cars that bring to your mind an specific car at the first eyesight.
  20. I hope US economy goes well, because for the most part of European citizens, the crisis is not still gone out. And have to give thanks if in the 2014, they only suffer a salary cut instead of being fired. I see a bunch of over 50 euros sets (and many over 100 euros), that only one (of the most nearly to 50 euros of course) could arrive to a fortunate kid next Christmas. The rest could be fortunate if receive a 20-30 euros set. Meanwhile there is a cloth store that are selling Ministeck 150 pieces sets for 3 euros and 260 pieces sets for 5 euros. Of course, they are not LEGO, they don't have the same quality, but LEGO is a toy or a hobby, and when you have less money, the first you cut is the budget for LEGOs. IMHO, I think that LEGO, Playmobil, Hasbro,... has to think about how many big (and expensive sets) people can afford to buy and then think about if they are going to have an acceptable return of investment or, they are not going to arrive to cover expenses. Because, of course, the margin of a big set is more than the one you get from little sets. But the expenses of not selling it are also bigger.
  21. I have claimed a brick on January 5th and they reply me at 14th saying the envelope is sent and the shipping to Spain will take 10-14 days
  22. I have just read the Artic sets descriptions and look interesting. And some of the new vehicles also. And I have just bought some LEGO Movie sets and some others are in my wishlist. But the new Friends sets for summer looks so awesome. I don't know if I will be able to afford all. TLG why? You could launch a bunch of dull city sets as usual, couldn't you?
  23. A licensed set of 2500+ pieces??? I don't know if will be a lot of people that can afford it!!!
  24. Play with this Open a powerpoint sheet and paste the image, crop it to give out the margins and print it - scale it until it fits on a 2x1 plate. When you have the scales, replicate these ones or keep the license plate border and edit the licence plate numbers. Once you have it, print it on a white sheet of paper and stick them with stick glue or look for adhesive sheets.
  25. I have just bought the 66453 and the main decoy in one side of the box is a big Text Banner saying 8 minifigs in all the main languages. And in other side of the box the pic of the 8 minifigs (7 firemen and a damsel in distress). In the Town forum I have written some replays talking about this. A lot of kids that bought LEGO are not builders and are not interested in MOCs, MODs or build and rebuild sets. They assemble the sets, because like with other toys, is something they have to do, but then they use them as playsets and the set, if completed, remains unalterable for long time. And others, in continuous growing are only collectors. They bought the sets for some elements, the spaceships or the figures. And CMF is increasing this role. I have read some topics in Eurobricks about that kids want figures with name because it represent a role to be identified with, as liked behavior/lifestyle or, as disliked behavior/lifestyle.
