Seeing the detailed pics, the upper row of profiled bricks is a mess with a flat brown 1x1 brick in the middle on the left part and on the right an 1x1 flat brick in the right corner and a half hidden profiled brick on the left. I hope that what we see is a preliminary pic and some design mistake will be fixed.

The Friend's Grocery Store is the "Creator" set of the Autumn. Because the toy shop and grocery of this spring is not great, and unless there is a non revealed Creator set for the Autumn, we are not going to have this year something like the last year's bike shop and cafe.

This one is better than the Garbage Truck. The house is great, depending on the price its a must have (3 minifigs, the dog, the bike, the wall bricks,...)

The combination of blues at the ground floor looks nice. And also the roof. But the combination of the second floor and the attic look a bit patchworked and are not as visual attractive than the ground floor. All of us, we had to use until the last of our bricks when we started and we had a short stock of pieces. Creativity is the essence of building bricks.

Just about to start with lego - need some newbie tips, please!
El Garfio replied to Endriu's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm in the 40's. When I come back to building blocks I bought some little sets of city and bricks and more (€10-15) but the one who became me an AFOL was the 6053-1: My First LEGO Town. For me, the best bucket for starters (doesn't matter their age): for €40, it included a lot of windows and doors, wheels and windscreens, slopes/roof bricks, some bricks with bow, a pavilion brick,... It's a pitty LEGO didn't launch again anything so complete like it. The new classic sets are great, but I think they have some lacks for being superb. -

IMHO, Better than the 10696, buy the 10692 and the 10695 for having some doors and windows. If you can, buy the 40154 (pencil pot). And with this 3 start to build. Go to the LEGO page and download some instructions of houses. When you will be stuck by not having the "right" brick, try and try until you find a solution. When you give up of thinking, buy the brick at bricklink or pickabrick. Some creator sets for starting: 31035: Beach Hut and 31009: Small Cottage are cheap and easy to build. Start with a Town better that a city. And when you become a LEGO addict, start more wide, more high and more sofisticated buildings. -
I have seen a lot of wonderful details. I find the brick combination of the ground floor nice, but the other floor are a bit colorful.

I preffer the green floor ground but both buildings are great. I'm working on apply your techniques in my buildings.

The position and future of Friends and minidolls in Lego?

Super Heroine LEGO Friends Minidolls http://41.media.tumb...wcnxo1_1280.jpg And in a galaxy far far away -
There are a lot of "refritos" (old sets with "new face") of course. Overpriced maybe yes, maybe not. At least in Spain, we are suffering a huge economical crisis. That means that regular toy stores (also in the one there is a LEGO set of it) fill their shelves with asian bulding bricks products for offering medium/big boxes at the €10-20 aisle. Also Mega offer white brand sets to some supermarket chains. In addition, some toy manufacturers like Hasbro, Technitoys (SCX) and Famosa (a well know Spanish manufacturer) launch a building bricks line. All of them has to made some price reduction and finally clearance because they fail. Why they fail? First because the LEGO position on the market is very strong, and second because LEGO decrease/mantain their prices in the early years of crisis. In the last 2/3 LEGO turns to their regular prices. And that means a sensation of rising and overpricing (also if usual prices at toystores are 10% up to the Germany price list). But the clue is to be patient and wait for offers, sales and promotions. Some sets like Friends Mall or City Police Station cost over €100 euro in September, but you can get it for €70 at Xmas session and if you wait more you can obtain a 30-40% off in puntual days. The other brands/manufacturers are: Mega bloks mainly, but the ratio cent per piece are higher than LEGO and in some lines like Barbie the ratio is obscene. Wange with some of their world famous buildings like London Tower, Pisa Tower, Petronas,... arround €50 and of course for adult builders. Aussini with some assorted sets for girls, city and trains but IMHO poor quality and not as cheaper as they seem. Primark some ministeck sets but in 2013 had launches very great sets (average quality pieces and a bargain when you calculate the price per piece ratio) but last ones for the last Xmas were very poor in quality and number of pieces.

Use PowerPoint or similar and create some "stickers" If you have some 1x2 or 2x2 tiles create discs or books covers. If you have 1x1 square or round bricks and 1x1 round plates you can create some food, oil packages,...

A €25-30 / 300 pieces junior bucket with a hairdresser, or a shop and an extra bag of pieces for alternative building could be a hit for the second semester. All kind of citizable sets are welcome. I like minidolls more than minifigs, and I would like there were more male minidolls. And also I would prefer that TLG have includes minidolls in the new licenses (I'm sorry, but I find scooby doo and star wars rebels minifigs unnatural).

I have found some girly junior sets very interesting for my city. A lot of printed parts, new torsos and the percent of pink elements is tolerable. I have the horse farm, and I'm working with the walls for building something more adult. I have also this car and the supermarket suitcase, and it find that their parts can also be suitable in my future constructions.

The supermarket suitcase rise some positions because is really more complete than I imagined. In the previous pics I have seen a facade over a 2 or 3 studs "base" but after seeing the video I have seen a lot of interesting elements. Last month I bought the red suitcase of the gas station for 18€. If I find this for a similar price or even for twenty and few sure I'll buy it.

Something like this: 4637-1: Safari Building Set But with molded animals, a better car, and more detailed elements.

I would like to add some city original buildings, but there is no 16 studs deep buildings in the market. As I said there is no further pretension. I built the grey building last week because I received a bunch of bricks I bought online. My intention was to build something like a bank or oficial building. And this week I have built some Friend sets I get for Xmas and I add also some city elements that I have in a self for filling the "table". The columns are from the bunch, I think, are from COBI. Unfortunately (or not), the bunch contains some pieces from Mega bloks and other branchs. The bricks are in an acceptable quality, only some scratches, no bites or breaks on the bricks. For the price I paid for the bunch I can't complain: there are over 300 pieces, some very interesting. As I have said, there is some non LEGO pieces on the bunch, but are in good condition and most of them are very useful, like the columns, some wall pieces and some large plates.

I hope finding the hotel next Xmas at the same price the shopping mall was last Xmas €70-€80 and take profit of early buys discounts (20%-30%) and have it for a little less of €60. If it happens, probably I will buy 2 and modularize it.
-
Pros: a lot of interesting new pieces. Good looking once built. Cons: Too many stickers I think I'm going to give them a chance
-
The hotel has awesome, I'm waiting for grocery's pics. How long for a bank? (because to many places for shopping and taking ice creams, juices,... but no place for having money, I think there is neither an ATM). And something like a museum, a theater or a cinema? Friends is going in a way that is making me to take apart city regular sets (I'm not much interested in swamps, arctic, forest,...) Even Friends vehicles are becoming nice (the Mia's Roadster is very good and London style cab is superb).

In the "Changing seasons" sets I see: - A base with bricks with holes to attach the different landscapes with Technic pins. - A slit in the middle of the facade that makes me think in some hinges that allow to change the form of the roof (Inverted V or lineal)

I have made and shared this car dealer 3 years ago.

The town square: good, but IMHO, a little expensive. €90-€100 I probably buy it, but not for €180. The carpet comes with the set or it's only for exhibit? Deep Sea: I like the sunken ship Space: Good shuttles but only a little better than the 2011 ones Friends: I need some more pics, but I can live without popstars sets (maybe if I find someone with a very hard discount). Waiting for pics of the hotel.

The manual is available in the instruction section of Lego website. I have it downloaded to a 9 inches tablet and I can put it flat in a table and I can see the details of the sheets without problems and I can easily follow the building process.
