  1. i think the chief is a little bit too short...
  2. first of all, jipay indicated in another topic about this that the admins are deleting senseless topics already. Normally, they'll wait a while before doing that to see if the topic is going anywhere. if it is, then they'll just leave it at that. if it turns out to be horrible, they'll close it. If it really doesn't make any sense, they'll delete the lot, usually sooner than later. second, EB would become pretty chaotic if every member could just delete his/her own posts whenever he/she feels like. However, you can always modify your post...
  3. on the other hand, lego now has instructions for set alternates on their own website. Megablock started with that concept more than a year ago. So basically, they're copying each other...
  4. the legend products are also not a very good representation of the golden decade. for instance, we never got a classic space set. in fact, i don't think there ever was an option for the fans to vote for a space set. i was also very disappointed a few years back, when they were supposed to celebrate the 25th birtday of the MF. i was sort of hoping for a rerelease of several sets of the last 25 years, but i didn't see much...
  5. 9a here's another ship i found on brickshelf. i like the white detailed castle. i only wonder if there's an interior http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=89424
  6. it's very nice. add a few stickers and you'd have a very decent city set...
  7. same here! only, i watched Sons and daughters, the mother of all soap operas. whenever i see the actors in a series or film today, i still remember the name they used to have there... but honestly, that type of info doesn't get you very far in life, nor do i find anything else of the show worth remembering...
  8. great review yoda  i'm not going to buy this either. they may be great for the fans, to me only the parts are interesting...
  9. they are horrible, but what bothers me the most is that they hardly disguise the fact that those products are copies of lego stuff.
  10. well i was kinda hoping for something like this ship called "Amsterdam": http://www.hetopenboek.nl/htm/historietexel00.htm
  11. just ordered a new batch of parts. hope to get it at the end of the week...
  12. i gave it a 5, unfortunately, i don't have it... it just has everything a pirate set has to have: lots of Minifigs, a ship, a canon, lots of details and an over all look that turns this set into a classic pirate set.
  13. yep it's nicely done!, even tho i would like to see a bit more MF if it is a public fight in an arena... i also think the emeror wouldn't be bold... he'd probably look like Crowe in "Gladiator" hm... the minotaur... isn't that mainly a greek story?
  14. what people don't seem to understand is that Lego and BL aren't the same type of economic activity. Lego produces toys, BL is a market for finished products. They don't produce Lego. If lego were to join BL, they'd probably loose the fight, because of simple economic factors, for instance: they'd have to pay official salaries for all people involved, and for lego, there would be lots of those - most BL shops are "after hour activities" there's no real time spent on a daily basis. it's just a sort of hobby combined with making a buck lego economics doesn't work like BL economics. price based on production cost, wages,... is not the same as a price driven by an extremely active and flexible market. I'm not even sure if lego would be able to compete in terms of actual prices per part. take set 3457, 100 2 x 2 red bricks. That costs 7.49
  15. ok... here's the deal: 1)we need to hear from captainau if he's going to use the b&b or not. Before that's there's no final conclusion on how we can devide the rooms for the other members. 2) we'll meet in windsor b&b from 13.00 onwards. according to the train schedules, it's about an hour by train from Waterloo station and 30 minutes from heathrow airport to the windsor-eton riverside station, so i guess most of us will go by plane and then take the bus to windsor & Eton Riverside (Rail), which is one of the rail station of windsor, close to the castle... don't forget, we may need to take another bus or go by foot to the b&b. 3) the parc closes at 17.00 on Sunday, so i guess we'll have an early goodbye diner at about 17.00 and leave at about 18.00. then we'll have enough time to get to the airport...
  16. well it would have been nice to have a combo set of smaller town sets of the passed... but...
  17. :$ :$ :$ i admit, it didn't go quite the way i was hoping for when i first saw these pics on brickshelf, and yes, he made a few bad decisions about the sails and masts, however, i do admire the builder for his/her work and vision. he/she doesn't follow the narrow margins lego sets when releasing models, he/she is not limited to what lego thinks is possible ... sure, it's not perfect .... yet... but it can still happen... btw, all those canons... g... a real treasure...
  18. well i think the other two bed room should go to captainau +1 however, jon, it means 8 members, 7 beds... last timr rikard slept on the floor... ok... ras, bring an extra blanket for you
  19. I think "Kleppende Klipper" refers to this, Phes: http://suskeenwiske.library.uu.nl/welcome....ensies/095.html it's a story about a ghost ship called "Kleppende Klipper", which is a reference to the dutch "Flying Dutchman" a famous ghost ship of the 17th century, when the Dutch controled the oceans.... it's a brilliant book, however, impossible to get in your region of the world... anyway, i like the ship! finally we have a ship that doesn't use the traditional hull pieces, but lots of brown pieces...
  20. i recieved my BL order today. Nothing special tho, just a few 100 plates...
  21. jon, don't you think you should move this to the buy/sell/trade forum? to add to jon's answer. the entire world uses dollars, so it's not illogical to have prices in dolars. Also, it's more profitable to sell in dollars than in euro, from a european point of view, that is, except for those poor british.... and the americans.. well, they're using dollars anyway...
  22. i think the only one who originally signed up but hasn't confirmed yet is Morton.
  23. thanks... even tho it's bad news...
  24. great ship, Kiku! ;) i only wonder what the swords are for...
