    M.A.R.S.

ahhh... life on mars :-$ not very popular though... i'm surprised some one even build mocs with the these sets... it's nice indeed *sweet*
  3. We're usually thinking about ships or stations when Space is mentioned. this brickshelf find is neither. It's an oil refinery and it deserves some attention from us, even tho it's microscale... rest of the gallery
  4. well, my lord, i'll stick to my theory, if you don't... mind... no... no... My... Lord... I ... I... can't.... brea... breath... cho...king... :-P
  5. hm... some really seem to have lost it... i also haven't seen the major Champoin's leaque refs here... in any case, they seem to enjoy yellow and red coloured cards to people
  6. but do they have new bricks?
  7. How did this promo expert come to be a promo expert? He has an awesome collection of his own, and has been collecting them for many years. No official "promo expert" certification, I'm afraid, but he's never let me wrong, and seem to know a lot of people who collect rare Lego thingamabobs and whoozits. well he 's probably right! Lego didn't produce cars 6 studs wide untill last year, so i guess we would have known about this promo set if it were a real promo
  8. i wouldn't keep my hopes up too much. my gut feeling tells me we're not getting them; and these lego girls don't know anything... saying they'll produce what is successful is a marketing line they're all using from time to time to assure the customer they really do care about what he/she wants...
  9. your link leads to the 40000dollar bid... don't see the second bid... still, if he were to sell sets seperately, i'd be interested in several, unfortunately, he only ships to US residents. that doesn't improve his case, since, in my experience, mostly Europe is interested in Legoland sets...
  10. just looking at the numbers, i'd have to say it's rather high. i just made an order for about 900 parts for 60 dollars, including postage and shipping; so without thnking about specialised parts or anything, i think your price/part ratio is really, really high. but then, if you take a look at your hull pieces... hm 3 dollars a piece... how many would you order in all? about 20? sure that pushes prices up... my only concern is that you may be buying parts at rather high prices because you want (or bought) them all from one shop. Maybe you chose this shop based on prices of one particular part and then just looked into the rest of his inventory list, eventually leading to this list of 400 dollars. Sometimes it's better to open up a second BL window and to do a general search for a part again, just to check how expensive your shop is for other parts you're buying. if he's expensive for other parts on your wanted list, it may be wise to look for a second shop and see if you can get cheaper prices for a large portion of your list. i'd also look for countries not too far off, because importing a package like that into the EU will most likely cost yet another few pounds or Euros, depending on where you live... Jonzo is also quite right: are you sure you all want these parts right now? i very often get an order that's waaay too high, so i remove parts or decrease the number of items wanted... I'd also check for insurance, cos a deal for 400 dollars is quite big, you never know...
  11. i thnk you're all taking this tag thing too seriously... a tag is only a token of your appreciation for one particular theme, the theme you love the most; it's an easy way for others to see what the main lego interest of a member is, that's all ...
  12. yeah, i know what you mean... hehe maybe we'll get a three master with a long boat type of catapult and pirates fighting seasnakes... :-P no seriously, you're right! i'm afraid chances that lego screws up a new pirate line are a lot higher than lego doing at least as good as the old line...
  13. yep, you're right! based on the wheel parts i'd say somewhere between late 80's 'till early 90's or so?
  14. i got it from the old green creature, i believe, Yoda... i think he said Lego was going to revive an older theme... could be adventures, really, so i wouldn't keep my hopes up, if i were you...
  15. well if i do remember this correctly, Lego is going to revive an older theme next year. Maybe it's pirates... or ... adventures...
  16. here's a find on Ebay.com; it's a promotional set for an American company. Nothing spectacular, thou, i just tought it 'd be nice to show the community... i've never seen it before, nor do i see a set number, which is weird 60 dollars already but it'll most likely be going up in the next 30 minutes...
  17. welcome ! *sweet* so we'll assume you're an exo fan?
  18. my guess is that the stars are tired. Lampard and Gerard are supposed to run the flanks all the time. they're not doing that, consequently, they do not support Rooney, who's all alone at the front and hardly sees any ball. Behind him becks is supposed to be support him as well, but he's no where to be seen. So what do you get? a game that doesn't move at all, an England team that doesn't really create chances but wins because of Becks fenomenal kick. That isn't surprising, though, because it doesn't require all the others to run 100 meters... send these poor boys home, please, they're tired...
  19. ... ok... this game is kinda boring ... :-(
  20. to follow a tradition set by the germans in their last game, you may now start your bid on buying the belgian ref. :-P

    EB NEWS FLASH

yeah... it seems they also have several differently formed forums like town, space, technic,... honestly, i think the lego community is already structured in that regard, if you're interested in castle for instance you'll be visiting CC, not this new site with a brand new forum with nothing in it... but oh well... it's a free world
  22. no problem, just brainstorming ...
  23. sure, but they're all saying here that the ball is really very light, so it would be "easier" to get it in, compared to older footballs...
  24. this brings up a point... should there be FORUM tags, or THEME tags...currently, snefore (and others) have a space tag... which works cause it seems to cover both a THEME and a FORUM. same goes for pirates. but what about the "theater" and "history" forum (along with others)... which both cover mulitple themes ??? that is to say, should there be a batman, starwars, sponsebob, avatar, spiderman, castle, adventuers, wild west, and vikings tag, etc... or simply, "theater" and "history" tag ??? any thoughts ??? personally, i favor the later - BrickMiner I think we shouldn't go into a situation in which there's an inflation of tags of all sorts of things, when members are more concerned about getting and changing tags on a constant basis. It reminds me of the individual titles. Yoda started that as a joke more or less, he gave a title to a member when he had some idea of who this person was, as a symbolic gesture to that individual. But in the end, everybody wanted a title, even minimal-posters, some were not happy with the title he/she received and we more than we'd liked , had to explain how it all worked... At that point, it really wasn't fun anymore... thank god we 've passed that... we can't have the same for the tags, really. It's a great idea, but we have to protect it against its own success. so that means, as the Big Chief indicated, we'll have to limit the use of tags to only the good EB contributors, and some one has to be the decision maker in who's getting one and who's not. For space, pirates and bionicle probably, i guess it's easy: we have special staff members for those forums. I guess castle and town/train will follow at one point... i'm not sure if there's a point in having sponge tags or bm tags... cos they don't really have an actual forum, neither does vikings, on the other hand a "history" tag doesn't make much sense either... However, i've created a blue, grey and white space tag, so if i nominate a member for a tag and he/she accepts, then he/she can chose what colour he/she wants... So maybe it would be doable for one larger forum as "History" to have two or three seperate tags: one Wild West, one viking and one ... what 's left in there... i also think we should limit this to our actual forums (town, train, pirates, history, ... but NOT sw, for instance). After all, EB wants to be a community for all themes of lego and most of the discussions, mocs,... appear in those theme forums... theatre really is more about news... and i guess the Chief is right in limiting the number of tags to two. That way, good contributors in different forums can be rewarded twice. I'm also very aware of the fact that these tags can become a measure of "forum importance" on EB. We really don't want to have a competition between the different subforums in terms of numbers of members with their specific tags.
  25. g... these minifigs really look great... if i were only into castle... unfortunately, my space canopies won't close with these huge helmets and where would these guys leave their shields and weapons.... :'-(
