Yeay its so much better to screw your team and country over insults !! That is insulting !! *yoda* zizou wasn't the cause of your loss, yoda. he wasn't in the game anyway and france wasn't playing very well either... i only find that it's such a sad way to go for such a brilliant player still, i don't think the zizou case goes to the heart of the problem, which is: how do we stop the excessive verbal and physical aggression on a football field?

I know there's a hollow interior, but that isn't the problem with playability. Besides making it hard to fit in, the point about having a skeleton like that is to provide strength and support, meaning it must stay in one piece. The problem this provides is that while an interior space may be available, there will be little to no access to it. What's the point of an interior if you need to dismantle the ship to see it? I mean don't think I haven't thought about building ships this way before ;-) well you could easily get access to an interior if you'd attatch the outside plates with blue pins to the technic bricks or you could also use tiles and 1x1 plates here and there... I just don't think the creator had any intent to build a ship like that

now you're bringing that up... i find that many peeron catalog pages have broken links. i'd suggest brickfactory instead

Another 9 Custom Castle Minifig auctions on the Block
snefroe replied to wlister's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
not so long ago some staff members did discuss what to do with this type of posts and we agreed that it's not a problem as long as it stays in this section of the forum. i don't really see any harm in it and it's even better if it stimulates discussion; and who knows, maybe there is some one here who's interested; I like the minifigs a lot, but I'm not into castle, nor into army building, so i'll let it pass... in any case, good luck -
you call all these things 'tricks', people? sure, you're better off when your bid ends at midnight instead of 8 or 9 in the evening. Sure, you're better off bidding in summer than just before christmas... sure, getting in contact with sellers is a great way to expand your own network, picking up the objects you won, instead of getting them by postage services is all very well, hoewever: that advice doesn't really get me anywhere if, for instance, the MISB space monorail bid ends at 8 today. It's not as if these sets appear every day and every hour on ebay so i can just choose the bidding that suits me best. the best thing you can do? Hope and pray there's no one else who wants the object you're bidding on! :-P ... or maybe I should just ask Phes to have some mercy with us and tell us his big secret strategy, would you, Phes? please tell me, so i can finally get my Galaxy Explorer at a ridiculous price! :-$

If I'm not mistaken, I once saw a tutorial out there on how to do it with no damage to the fig. yep, you just pull out the pin. normally, that only leaves a hole in the helmet... Yeah, but I remember the guy had an interesting method where he held it with his foot...or something, so that even the head could be used, and the helmet could be filled in with sculpy. Really interesting read, if I knew where to begin looking :-P If anyone else knows where it is, feel free to post it. oh yeah, you can save the head, because the pin sticks right into the middle. you only have to fill the hole in the helmet

just where have those figs pack gone?????
snefroe replied to kenji's topic in General LEGO Discussion
TLC is trying to stay in the black. They are not a money-hoarding company looking to up a huge profit by a few more bucks. Set prices are better this year than last year it would seem. Honestly, why would TLC be over taken by megabloks and playmobil? Megabloks is declining in set design quality faster than TLC was, and these last few years have given us some incredible sets. Playmobil is in a different league, beside the minor similarities to the mini-fig. As far as I'm concerned we don't have adequate evidence to support the declining quality of the LEGO brick. I have noticed things here and there, but nothing substantial enough to call TLC out on. None of this is relevant to your original post, which complains of the absence of the mini-fig packets. Further more you failed to recognize my examples. TLC is trying to appease the masses while still remaining profitable. Maybe in a decade or two mini-fig packs will be back in all their prestigious glory? We'll just have to wait and see. well there's a direct link between playmobile and lego. Lego lost 30% of her customers to playmo in the last 10 years. Megablocks isn't relevant in that regard. Playmo does have 1 minifig packs and they're selling enormously it seems... exactly... to build armies... -
i agree, you could use the structure to your advantage! in fact that would make your ship rather unique in the community

well i guess it depends on the person that is handling your file. Some will do a great job others won't ... from all the posts about the services, i'd have to say they're quite passive. i mean: they usually don't ask questions about you missing a part, they'll just send you a new piece if you need one. Maybe there's fraud involved, but they don't take steps to see if it's the case, they don't get actively involved. Their motivation is probably kinda low... i guess that also means they don't double check things. you're a file number, that's it. so if some one reads it the wrong way, you'll get stuck with the outcome.

HISTORIC ACCURACY or FANTASY in LEGO's history lines ???
snefroe replied to Brick Miner's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
this is great example of when fantasy would become too much !!! introducting too much fantasy, to the point where the authenticity of the theme is lost, is too much.- BrickMiner i don't think that has ever happened though. the ghosts started to appear in the early 90 castle theme. At that point, it was a great addition to the actual theme; it didn't really dominate the traditional castle ltheme. It may have gone a bit too far later on, with the dragon masters, sure, but i think that particular subtheme was more compromised by the lack of quality than the dragons... at least i've never seen moc castles with, for instance, a stable for dragons... Maybe it's because most castle fans are a bit older and find these things to be too childish. It's a type of creativity adults seem to have lost i guess... unlike authers of comic books... ;-) the mythology aspect of the viking sets fits nicely into the general theme. It's only very unfortunate that the parts are so useless for anything else... -
ah yes! i use the key chains of the classic blue space man to get brand new torsos with the golden icon. just get the pin out and replace the head...

Pardon? Who said anything about spending 600 to 700 euro on an army? I said the only way to acquire an army is to buy sets. Again, I typed "people." There are some castle fanatics that spend way too much money on mini-fig armies, though 600 to 700 euro seems a little extreme. ;-) but that's what you're implying, isn't it? you're basically saying: 'we , the lego company, we're no longer interested in producing pure minifig packs for 10 bucks so that you people can buy 10 copies of them for a 100, giving you about 50 men. we, the lego company, are willing to create a minifig pack but you'll have to take lots of extra pieces as well, cos we'll add a tower or whatever, and it will cost you about 30 bucks. Why? because it's more profitable for us than just a minifig pack.' of course, no one is going to buy 10 copies of such a set! that's my point! that's why i seriously doubt these new viking sets we'll ever become a major sale, they're too expensive to get multiple copies, contrary to the classic minifig packs... -
me too, even tho it's a perfect built for a display model and i guess that's what the guy was going for...

this is how people build star ships these days: a bunch of lego technic bricks, a couple of pins, plates and greebs and here you go: a space ship here's the rest of the gallery

it's always great to hear from parents who are trying to bring up their children with lego! Welcome! *sweet*

i don't really see the point of this site... it keeps current lego instructions? what would be the point of that? don't we already have several others for that?

It is a shame that TLC doesn't do that anymore, but it is a smart decision on their part. A lot of people like to collect figures (especially if you're into castle/vikings or pirates), so that means the only way to acquire them in bulk is to buy the sets. Thus adding more dough to the coffers. i seriously doubt that. the budget of young people very often doesn't allow them to buy 4 big castles or ships to get a large number of minifigs, however, we can put that to the test with the viking line i guess. How many of you are going to buy ten times the new viking sets for about 60-70 euro (25euro set + 40 euro set)just to get enough vikings, meaning, who's going to spend 600-700 euro on a viking army? -
g... and this coming from a teacher! :-P i think it's a shared responsability though. abusive language has become a nuesance in today's football. not only between players on the field but also between the supporters and players. african players, for instance, are constantly being confronted by the public making animals sounds as soon as they get the ball. it's become so far that refs just stop the game for as long as it continues, players have refused to continue to play,... Players aren't any better. a football field is no excuse to offend people or people's relatives and i think that is what happened here. i don't hear this type of language on a tennis field or volleyball field...

i just got a phone call from my sister again... it seems I have bought some sets i have never ever seen before at the tax free shop at Charleroi airport, of all places... it went like this: 'Sets i probably have never seen before? So promotional sets?', I asked. 'hm... maybe... think so... They look kinda strange. Honestly, I think they are special, but it's a surprise, i won't give you the set numbers...', she replied... 'ok... but can't i have just one?' 'nope' 'Come on, give me a hint! Are there minifigs in the sets?' 'Yes and no' hm... g... i really wonder what I bought this time...

to my knoledge, this hasn't been done yet. i think what happened is that one of the line refs or the fourth ref talked to the ref through the intercom and explained what had happened.

wow! moving to Australia! you lucky bastard! hope to hear from you soon and take care!

yep, i was right about the fire station even though it has some parts missing, the rest were mocs i'm afraid to say... i can still save the parts for other things but nothing spectacular. And the other stuff, like classic space mocs, was waaay too expensive. i did find a tile with 'police' on it that i can't place. i'll post a pic of it when i have my camera... the only good news is that he claims he has larger sets of the late 70's and early 80's and he will sell them somewhere late in august, i'm thinking yellow castle, galaxy explorer,... but i'll go and check it myself... i'd be ok with a yellow castle moc with the stickered bricks and minifigs, but we'll see what happens...

ok... maybe not a legend, but he was praised by every one to be the next wonderboy of British football, and to be honest, his part very often is decisive; take for instance his free kick at one of he games of this cup: the team wasn't playing all that well, they didn't seem to get through the defences, then he gets to shoot at the goal and it makes all the difference. He's not a Zizou, not a genious, but he's at the same time very important for the British team, more than Rooney anyway... Rooney... here's another guy who was taking on a lot of pressure and what happens? yep, a serious kick where we, men, don't like to get one at all, and out he is... De Bleeckere (the belgian ref who was at the cup), explained why he too would have given a penalty: he says that the actual incident started with the first of two faults by the Italians just before the actual penalty fault. the ref warned the Italians not to push it, twice, even tho other refs would have given cards for these faults, he didn't. and then the penalty fault happened. so in this case, it was the context around this mistake that made the ref decide to allow a penalty. In any case, all analysts agreed here that giving the penalty was a correct decision, even though that particular mistake wasn't that bad...

It's possible that they'll just replace one superhero theme for another, most likely Superman; Btw, i also was under the impression that lego was going to produce a Superman line. I don't know where i picked that up but i felt the source was reliable at that time... Anyway, without a new bm film i don't see why they should invest more into this. I think, what they most of all learned from the sw-line, is not to push it, not to produce 10 sets including big ones, in two or more waves, without clear signs of mega sale potential. It seems to me they've become far more cautious about what, how and when to release. They're realising that a theme may only have a 1 year lifespan. take vikings: sold very well, but after one year, it was all over, sales crashed... Themes have become '1 hit wonders': they may be doing great in the first year but after that it's all over. it's as if the customer gets bored of the theme after one year already... and then needs something new... The fact that licenses are highly specialised even increases this trend, there's no large loyal fanbase to keep the entire line at a high average of sales for 2-5 years...
