i do this as well, however, i think it's a very unfair and not even a correct way of organising an auction. in a normal auction, the auctioneer will ask the public one last time if any one wants to over bid the highest offer. that's great for the seller as well. he always gets the highest price. on ebay, time is so dominant that you can use the '15 second rule' all too well. that's not great for the seller and many bidders feel they've been cheated. Ebay should allow to keep the auction open for another minute or so when people are bidding within the last minute or so, because there's still a possibility of getting an ever higher price... if bidding is opened for another minute bidders will bid at the end of that extra minute....... so doesn't help, does it nono the idea is to keep that going untill no one is willing to go even higher... how does ebay know when exactly would "no one is willing to go even higher" occur???? i don't think it's that difficult. Ebay registers the bidding times. So if some one bids in the last minute, the system should automatically add another minute, providing extra time to the first bidder to check the new bid and if he wants to, offer a new bid. if he does, then that means he bid in the last minute , so another minute is added, giving the second bidder a minute to evaluate the situation. he then can decline, leading to a higher price for the goods then when the originel auction ended, even though he didn't win, or he can, in return, offer an even better price. Actually, this is what happens in a real auction; every one gets the opportunity to make his final stand. and let's face it, it won't go on forever, if your max bid is 150 euro for a specific product, if that's how far you wanna go, then you won't bid for 155 euro, therefore, no new bid , auction ended...

well i think that italy deserved to win. they had the better chances and in the end they had the most experienced team. the way Del Pierro made that second goal was purely on automatic pilot, a goal he made so often in his career, piece of cake, for him. it wasn't a question of luck, really, it's just tipically italian, they know they can beat anybody and they know when to strike. so now they'll take on Portugal or france... hm... difficult choice here. It's Deco against Zizou; Vieira against Figo... hm... who knows how this turns out... then there's Henry, Maniche, Ronaldo, ... first of all, i hope to see a great game...

30 would be a good price!

i went for the 1983 police station. the earlier stations were a bit before my time, even tho the second police station is probably the actual legend of the entire family. in only discovered the older police station just a few weeks back. at first i thought it was only an alternative model... 6384 is the classic Legoland police station, with a great garage door, a car, a chopper and a motorcycle... just a brilliant combination! 8-

outch...now that i've seen Ben's site, i recognise a few things that happened to me as well... the steps between plates, for instance... i've also noticed different shades of gray that's supposed to be one universal colour... :-X the transparent thing... :-X

i'm afraid they're looking at profits first. if those two models sell the best, even as a 2nd version, then they'll produce a third... or maybe it's because of the release of the old films on dvd...

yeah... and we would add a minifig pack to build armies... so we basically want a space super version of Star wars... ;-) but suppose they would decide to bring back a space theme, it would probably work like vikings, dino,...: 4-5 sets, of which two fairly large sets, a medium set and two small sets. so you're going to have to be a bit more precise then what you've written here. let's make it easier, shall we? suppose we get a wave 1 in 2007 and a wave 2 in 2008... what would your theme look like in sets?

it's germany-italy, now, right? i hope germany wins... it seems they're having a great time in germany right now, thanks to the WC, so losing now would spoil the fun... besides, isn't it traditional to have a german team in the final? the other game, france-portugal, mostly depends on one guy: zizou; if he plays as in his last few games, then we should see a great game... hope france wins...

i guess you're basically asking if there's a place you can buy this sets or any other set you like for less than the reduced price... 1) i always check prices on bricklink.com. 2) lego.com i still find 40 euro rather high, considering bl has them for 40 dollars and i think they'll be on sale soon after the WC for less

i got a mail today from my sister telling me she bought lego for about 25 euro off the Sunday market. The problem is that she's part of this group of people on our planet that have no clue about lego what so ever. She's speaks a languange, that we, lego people, just do not understand. so instead of a decent description of what she found, i got this: 'a fire station, green baseplate, red building' I think, i hope, it's this 'a petrol station on a green plate' my guess is this, but i 'm not sure... she also stated 'shell minifigs and truck included' hm... is there any other shell station with a green plate? i don't think so... 'a police station with a bluish-grey building on a yellow plate' *wacko* *wacko* *wacko* no clue at all what's she's saying here; i'll assume the bluish grey is old blue or grey, not the actual colour we know... ;-) Still, a mystery... a yellow base plate in 70's-80's town? not that i know off... 'a hospital car' this could be an ambulance or just a small car... most definitely old, but apart from that... no clues... i'll give her a ring tonight and guide her through bricklink database.... then we'll see... ;-)

lego is a lot cheaper in the US for us, Europeans: the ucs isd costs in belgium: 370 euro in the US: 300 dollars so even if 1 euro equals 1 dollar, i'd save 70 euro but in reality, 1 euro is 1.2 dollars, so i'd save an extra 66 euro, so buying the isd in the US, would save me 136 euro. hm... sure, i'd pay for shipping, but i can even save money on that as well, by getting rid of the box

well my oh my! 8-

i think they're usually not allowed to sell and ship lego items to Europe. God knows we'd all buy lego in US shops if it was.

according to the originel source the xwing would be for August

nope. different one i remember i did built a huge pirate ship in 1989, when we were all impressed by these brand new and brilliant sets of the pirate theme. Unfortunately, i only had the non-pirate bricks from other themes of the past, so i kinda built a traditional ship with a hull made out of bricks. the masts were 2x2 cylinders, strengthened by axles, cannons were basically 1x1 cylinders and i actually used real rope to keep these masts standing up. That was the hardest part really. Sooner or later one of these things would fall down , dragging the others with it in the process... i even made a huge instruction book for it, but i can't find it anymore; guess i'll have to look for it in the basement... -
what i don't understand is that the retail price is also 125 euro. that doesn't make much sense to me. lego is better off selling them for 15 euro less

Magnetron? Sorry man i think magnetron doesn't exist in Lego space...can you explain what is magnetron? ah, thanks to all to your replies, is nice to see people posting about the space theme Magnetron is M-tron's full name. I saw a scan of a page from an old LEGO catalog on Brickshelf. It said Magnetron on it. this is interesting! where exactly did you see this? I am aware that several countries used to refer to blacktron 1 as "Black Star" and the Canadians refered to Futuron as "Futureworld", so it's not impossible to have one country talking about Magnetron...

yep i do have a digital camera yep i do build Mocs, for now only space mocs, i'll build a few pirate mocs next year, but i just don't have the money to buy and sets for the collection, and parts for space and parts for pirates i usually buy pirate sets via my second hand shop, considering the fact that i don't have to spend extra on postage and shopping (usually, that would be 4 euros for a shipment in belgium) and the fact that they have pirate sets coming in on a regular basis... sure, without the box, but that's ok for pirates... i most definitely would not buy minifigs or parts through ebay because priority is boxed sets for the moment; i'll worry about minifigs later... i'll just keep on buying pirate sets through my shop for another year and hope that'll be sufficient to man the mocs in mind... However, with the pirate mocs in mind, i wouldn't need most of the typical pirate parts... except for cannons but even that problem can be solved when i start building the mocs... most of the sets are stashed away in huge boxes in order to save some space and to protect them -
Not in belgium, though. Have a look at SAH, under belgium. 500 euros, as snefroe stated. Other countries such as germany france and spain may save loads of cash, but poor belgium seems to have been screwed here. yep, for us it's 500 euro, the MF version is "only" 125 euro
-
i don't get it. *wacko* the collection costs 500 euro, but the seperate sets are 370 euro and 125 euro, so you're even better off buying the two sets seperately
