what i like the most about these things is the excitement... it may just be a bunch of classic bricks, but on the other hand, there may be some hidden treasure in there...

i second that! this game between Sweden and Germany was in fact over after 30 minutes. the Germans scored twice, but basically from far off. i didn't really see them getting chances from within the 16 meter box. sure, they played very well, using their strength, their physical power, their tactics, but i do wonder how that defence, which is not that strong, will hold against swift combinations from Argentina's top players... No doubt, you're going to have to build a strong defence against the Germans, but their defence isn't spectacular either...

Don't you think you're taking it a BIT too seriously? I mean a few rims hardly make or break LEGO, who not only has an excellent reputation for quality, but also for customer service. Look what they did for Striking Venom, sending out the correct parts to fix their mistake. Why does it matter what the reason is? I mean we're talking about four tiny pieces of plastic which affect play in no way (which is really the point of LEGO). They've already shown that they can send out replacements with the SV, which you admit is more of a deal than an explanation. Does it really matter why the rims were changed? I think people are just making too big of a deal out of a very minor thing. no I think it is serious thing. It can't hurt to tell multinationals they have to respect their customers. in the case of lego, it's not just the rims... we've seen several other mistakes in the last year, like giving the wrong bricks in the case of the uplink, giving the right bricks but the wrong colour in the case of the chopper i believe, ... Customers need to push companies to provide the service and the goods they promised. If that means they have to spend more time on checking their machines, then so be it!

cool !!! and good luck. what are some of your plans for this HARD CORE of EB, as far as the space forum goes ??? (maybe this question should be posted in the space forum X-O ) HA !!! very funny snefore :-D :-D :-D but that wouldn't be very appropriate, putting a space tag for me... as i don't think i've contributed to any thread in that forum !!! :-P so do you think this could be a good idea, gylman ???however, if it every were to happen, you couldn't get a "castle" only tag... as the forum that castle is included in is the "History and Adventure" Forum... so, if the tags were according to your forum "affiliation" (based on your favorite theme), then your tag would include Castle, Knights Kingdom, Adventurers, Wild West, and Vikings. would that still be cool ??? sounds like we might be on to somthing here. 1) 1 ring to rule them all, remember? or haven't you seen this topic yet? ;-) Our first objective would be to turn Space into yet another fun and welcome corner of EB :-$ 2) A tag for every different theme to your liking is no doubt a great idea. In my case, if you want a space tag, there will be a series of very difficult exams, followed by you sending all your space sets to me as a token of your appreciation for my leader ship!! :-P :-P :-P nah.. just kidding! i'll give them away, to who ever wants one... Being part of a community is not a contest, there's no race to be the first, the best, the strongest, the fastest,... it's all just for fun! *sweet* 3) We'll probably have more and different affiliates in the future, however, this is still in its very earliest stage and one that needs some very serious thinking and discussion with the community and between the staff. After all, we want to make EB better for all of us, we don't want to turn EB into a combination of smaller communities grouped under one empty banner... We should not get ahead of ourselves and step into a dynamics we can't control. we'll take our time...Also, we know that we have several darn good members out there for all sorts of themes. But we'll focus first on pirates, then space and then we'll see..; right, chief(s)?

maybe we need to urge Lego reps for a serious explenation again. saying "they didn't tell me" or "they didn't know themselves", or whatever doesn't cut it for me, honestly. If you buy a car and you get a green one instead of your wanted, ordered and payed for silver grey, i'd think you'd complain and they either correct the mistake or compensate you. I hear everywhere that Lego has to adapt to a new world of globalisation where competition is very stiff, well, a good way to fight your competition is to deliver the goods you promised and if not, at least respect your customer by explaining what went wrong! >:-( Now, we've asked reps before to find out what the problem is, "demand" however, would be a better course of action. Lego is not cheap compared to many other toys, the least they can do is to give a decent explenation! g... i'm not even talking about sending replacement parts to all who want them!

pretty cool indeed! reminds me of a Harley-Davidson in space ... for some reason... :-P

i'm in charge of what will soon be the hard core of EB: Space, and mind you, only space :-P what you're seeing underneath my name is indeed a space tag... Soon we'll have subspace on line and you can get one as well if you want, even in a different colour! ... even tho... i didn't see an indian on the moon, last time I was there... but then, that was some time ago... however, i do believe i saw a film called "Space cowboys" in the past... :-P yep , pirate forum is going thru some rough sea, due to several changes, but it'll be great when everything is running on cruisin' speed! i applaud phes contribution to the forum, even tho it's still a bit chaotic to me as well, but it'll all work out just fine, you'll see!

He is? That's the first thing I hear about it :-P . Anyway, thanks for the replies. Currently I'm working on my very first Space MOC, so perhaps you shall soon see it here on EB. BTW, why is the CS logo under your personal data? hehe that's the new space tag... you can get one too if you want once the subspace forum is online... soon... i hope.... very soon...

hehe... we noticed... school... what a terrible invention! :-X

i guess you are the only one! :-P first of all, these people get evaluations constantly. if they fool around, they won't get any new game to ref. also, the ref is part of a team of three (his two line instructors) and a fourth guy is standing by as well, so if he screws up, the others will have to share the consequences too my main concern, however, is that we've seen several attacks from one player to another that were not dealt with, not just a punch here and there, but also stepping on some one's arms or legs,... i don't think we've seen enough yellow and red cards so far, compared to the number of assaults we've seen... i'm also not impressed by the over all quality of the games we've seen and i think they should limit the number of participants in the future. Togo, Saudi-Arabia, Japan, US,... with all due respect, but they really have no business being there. But also several major soccer teams are really disappointing, like France, Brazil, Rep. of Czechia,... it seems to me that many super stars are struggling with a burn out because of a very loooooong season... In any case, many games have been boring... :-X

also very nice indeed! 8-

so it finally happened: castle infested by space! way to go, space!!!!! :-P

did i hear this right on the radio? Did Simic get three yellow cards before he got a red in his game against the Aussies?? 8-

yeah... i also think we're over reacting. there's still lots of money to be made in the lego business, so from a financial point of view, i guess it wouldn't be smart to just sell it all. In future, the three children will own the company, and maybe they're not highly involved, that doesn't mean they want to sell. there's also an emotional element to this. Why would you wanna sell the family business that, in many ways influenced your own life, not to speak of the lives of your parents and your grandparents? Even if you hate lego, and you yourself don't want to have anything to do with it, then surely it would be better to go and look for a few damn good managers to take on the daily work. i also don't think that the Danish authorities would just stand by and do nothing.... What's changed is this: the company no longer produces the toys, but i do think they're still designing the products. It's basically the trend of globalisation for Europe: production goes to Asia, all the 'intelligent' activities stay in Europe. We see it every day, honestly. In fact, it's going to be good for us and for lego, because now lego is a customer herself to the actual product producers. If lego is not happy with the quality they can go some place else to get their products made at their own conditions...

i think it's great! 8-

this would be my car: no? in my dreams it is! :-P :-$

i applaud every one's attempt to re interprete the older sets. surely we can improve the older models with our vast range of colours and parts! your model is very nice, but it's the victim of a too limited range of parts in the software package. printed tiles, antennas, radar discs,... something to make it look more like a spacecraft, maybe a probe or two or a cargo bay

I agree - with you, that is ;-) Although I think it might look better on a unraised baseplates. I personally like the three castles that IMHO defined Classic Castle: 6080, 6074, and 6073 (in this order). But then, that's just me... About the price: no comment... :-| 6073 is one of those "obscure" sets , if you're asking me... it clearly stood in the shadow of 6080 and was rather quickly replaced by 6074 that would even become a legend...

hm... Aad De Mos, who is a rather important name in the Benelux and dutch, wasn't happy with the performance at all and neither was I, but that's what happens if you get replacements on the field... Let's face it, they were trying to save energy for the next tough game...
-
hm... with Klinsmann dealing the cards, the team has been revitalised. In fact, they've just come out of a serious crisis. I think they did terrible at the Eurpean Champs 2 years back... but they won't win the cup...

i've no intention to set up an actual ranking system in a space subforum, unless a fair number of people would really want one (even tho we already have created something similar that's not public yet ;-) ) It kinda makes things rather complicated and it's time consuming to follow it up, however, if there's interest for it, why not? i'd have to ask jp to set it up in terms of software but let's see how the pirates sub goes first, once that's on cruisin' speed, i'll kidnap jp for a while so we can spend some quality time dealing with some loose ends of the subspace sproject :-P
-
hm... some one who's willing to spend 231 dollars has got to be a guy with infinite bucks as well! :-P I did see a boxed one on ebay just the other day for a lot less... but you're after MISB? outch! you're just asking for it! :-P
-
hey mister! you're off topic!! to the chamber!!! :-P this ref seems to be well known for giving cards... still, i don't think we'll see much more than what we've seen already...
