  1. yep it's pretty nice!
  2. you're a very sick man, morten... you need help... :-X and eh... the other half was quite happy with these lego sets as well? :-P
  3. well... this will be my very first mech ever! still strugling with the legs though... the cockpit I already have... if i can find it again, that is... :-$
  4. Nice ! I am amazed they didn't jump on the occasion with pirateof the carribeans. Pirates had been the most successfull line for TLC. How sad ! MegaBloks has the licence for Pirates of the Carribian ! true, but they didn't actually need the license. they could have easily used the hype to sell regular pirate sets
  5. I just love that first picture!! *wub* that's very cool!!! the chain saw is a great idea!
  6. ah yes... i completely forgot the contest... :-$ 2 weeks you say? ok... I should be able to find something to beat the crap out of yoda's mech :-P
  7. *wacko* ah... hm... difficult, this one... the 1985 version was brilliant... for 1985. a friend of mine had this one and those airplanes... wow! they looked fantastic!! ... in 1985. I think it was the first time that Lego tried to create a minifig plane model of only 4 studs wide. great design, cool cockpit! the rest was rather traditionel... 6396 is just a newer version of the first. Nice scenery, sure, better than the first in all, but not as groundbreaking... 6597... now that's a busy airport! unfortunately, i feel that the lego designers focused on quantity, not quality. the yellow choppers don't look all that nice, the cars are really boring and the building... hm... looks like a white and larger version of the first ... the 2006 airport... hm... it looks exactly like a very busy airport of today, not style, but efficiency rules here. there's no soul in this one... the scaling, as yoda said, is way off..., even though i think the plane has great potentiel, just replace the wings, the engines and the landing gear, but still too BIG. ok... so what's it gonna be? i guess i'll just go for nostalgia and pick the first one...
  8. bought this one
  9. so one of my dark gray 2x10 plates got damaged yesterday.... no clue how it happened, i just noticed it when i picked it out of the '2x10 plates box'... anyway, just pointing out this poll on legofan.org. at first i thought it was just another survey on the design, playability,... of the sets, but it was in fact about the quality of the plastic and instruction books... the most interesting element of the poll are the statistics, based on the answers of people... take the ARC-fighter: 40% felt the instructions were confusing in terms of colours; 5 % received a set with damaged instructions; 5% missed parts; 13% got a set with replacement parts... in all, 166 people responded...
  10. well it's a great set, but maybe the classics win because only , or a majority of, old people vote :-$
  11. it's going to be very interesting to see how much the ambassador program influenced the company's policy. I think 2007 would be the first time we can see the effects of that. It would be great if the company and the ambassadors were to sit down with the community somewhere in 2007 and show us exactly where they changed things on themes/lines/sets/policy... still, i'm split on a pirate theme. I fear that we'll never get an even better version of the old pirates. instead, we may get a viking style theme: pirate ships with catapults, pirates fightings seamonsters... still, I'd buy it if the general quality is as high as the viking line ... any other theme that smells like real conflict/war is just not an option, but i do think that the company is moving in that direction. We'll see. If they release a police set next year with real guns, then i guess one day Lego might be interested in creating military sets one day...
  12. we didn't get sponge in Europe because no toyshop in europe was interested in Sponge. They thought it wouldn't sell, so Lego didn't buy the license for Europe. Lego cannot just sell what a poll result indicates, they depend upon the major toyshops, that's it...
  13. i think i've seen it twice in Belgian shops and never in large numbers. But then, it's only since the holidays that our shops have been decently filled with Star Wars sets. The a-wing, however, is quite rare. It seems there are two problems: 1) Lego's production capabilitie is severely limited as Yoda explained. That's not a new story, btw, Last year shopkeepers had to wait for 6-8 months before they got anything they ordered and very often they only saw a very small portion of what they wanted 2) distribution lines suck. >:-( instead of going straight through Holland to Belgium, they go to the UK, all the way down and then cross the channel... So they've actually passed Belgium, ended up in France and then drive up north again to Belgium... Their explenation? Lower wages... :-|
  14. well i think in this case, it works on the cylinder, but not on the section before that, because of the gray quarter cymlindrical parts. it's kinda difficult to explain why the normal hull pieces are serieusly 'weathered' while the roof looks like brand new... honestly, i'm getting kinda bored with these types of mocs. we've seen quite a few of those and they don't really seem to add anything new anymore, it's just another shape, that's it. in fact, in this case i would have built more of these cylinders to form a space station instead of a space ship...
  15. well actually, these posts should simply be deleted... over and done with...
  16. the only historical theme for the future would be Rome/Greece, I guess. Boys in Europe only dream of Vikings, knights and Roman soldiers. Give them any bit of fact about Rome in school and they will immediately dream of Roman legions. Same with the medieavel timeframe: they only dream of knights fighting in the crusade or tournements or fighting each other... we don't even get revolutionary war at school... WWI would be out of the question...
  17. i was aware of the fact that there was a 'real crocodile hunter' but i don't think i ever saw him on tv... this accident reminds me of what happened to a guy called 'the bear legend' or something. this guy went camping for months, year after year i believe, to observe bears. he also felt he had things well enough in control, he even personalised these animals. unfortunately, one day, he comes too close, thinking the bear would know him well enough by now, the bear attacks the guy and eats him alive... it was all recorded on tape... and not a pretty sight... if you're out there, doing these type of things, working/living with animals in their territory, then it's usually just a question of time before you get into trouble. the only way to survive that is to take the necessary measures, never to lose objectivity, and to respect the animals... Irvin made a mistake: he was so much focussed on making a decent documentary, probably focused on the animal he wanted to film, that he didn't see he was a threat to the other fish... Stupid, actually... but a lot better than being eaten by a bear...
  18. a great ship indeed! i'm not so keen about the microscale, though
  19. i also don't know why we'd need another community section, really... are pirates too shy to post their new purchases in the general community, to shy to tell us what movie they saw last? What would be in there that for some reason, cannot be posted in the general forum?
  20. happy birthday!
  21. great review! de chopper is not particularly my favourite though
  22. you want to deeplink pictures from your brickshelf account to EB, right? i think we've got a tutorial for that somewhere, but it's basically as kiku said: click on your picture in your account, untill the URL ends with '.jpg'. copy that URL; then start a post here and where you want your pic, you click on the 'tree' icon (insert image), then paste your URL. that's it...
  23. i think bigger boxes are only created for marketing reasons. they're supposed to attract the very young people, to make Lego sets stand out in shops. I did the test with the longboat last year: you can fill the box with another longboat without any problem
  24. USS Constellation One of our members was so kind to do a review of the
