  1. well it seems that he still has to make the actual reviews. i may just buy the sets to have a complete space collection though
  2. here's a prelimanary review of the theme
  3. :-| i don't get it. Two American sites organising a lottery/competition for Europeans? :-| aren't those sites floaded with American members anyway?
  4. simple: nobody wants them anymore for 50 euro or more...
  5. you know, we did see this in the discount tent in windsor last year. i had to make a stone of my heart not to buy this one... and still regretting it... :-X as mike said... any left, and, at what price? and what country?
  6. well as you can see in this bl list, the price varies from 40 to 135 dollars. it's rare, especially if you have the box, but it's from waaay before the minifig era, making it very interesting for some collectors, but a huuuuuge majority couldn't care less. You'll most likely find a buyer and a price, depending on how original your parts are and whether you have instructions and box. still, i guess you're better off selling MF's, AT-AT's,...
  7. hm... sounds intruiging... |-/ a metal saw... would it involve handcuffing small German boys so we can calmly and quietly search through a huuuuuuge box of parts, without having to rely on tt to scare them off?
  8. you're right, the series dates back to the mid 70's, the four sets mentioned in the review being the left overs of the series. The ship, however, was launched in 1978...
  9. well i guess we can already see parts of the old viking line in castle, like the bow of the longboat...
  10. happy birthday TT! have a great one *sweet*
  11. well actually, if i were Bronte's advisor, i'd tell him that his approach is not entirely smart... First, having mixed squadrons is not a good idea at all, suppose 13 ships of 1 squadron need to be moved from point A to B. your 3 xwings are the fastess of the fleet, so they'll arrive first, your slowest ships, probably the small a or v-wings will arrive much later and the rest falls in between. So your squadron is scattered over a large distance, all your ships, except for the xwings, are higly vulnerable because they've got no cover what so ever, and your 3xwings will be greatly outnumbered by 1 squadron of 13 tie fighters. second, different assignements require different types of training and differently trained people. Let's say if you have a squadron of 13 ships of one type, you have 13 pilots + 4 reserve pilots. they're all trained in one type only, but that's ok because there only is one type. If you have 5-6 different types in one squadron, you'll need at least two reserves for every type, that's 13 pilots + 10-12 reserves. you'll find soon that overhead costs will be more expensive than maintaining your fleet! this also goes for maintenance crews, engine crews, weapons crews,... third, maintenance will be terrible! you can't cannibalise 1 out of 13 ships to keep the others going, because cannibalising 1/3rd of your xwings to keep the other two ships going would cost you dearly in your next battle and no x, y, a, or b wing can provide you with parts to keep your v wings going, if both v-wings need to be repaired... fourth, battle tactics in sw, as far as I can remember, work pretty much in the same way as the current tactics in aviation: every flight of four has two sections, each having 1 leader and 1 second who's watching the leader's back. so 13 ships is kinda 1 too manny, besides, "13" is not exactly a lucky number...
  12. yeah... this is a familiar problem, in fact we've discussed this on EB before. I haven't worked with BS for quite some time, but i think it's nothing more but a glitch in the system. just put all photos in a folder, give it a proper!! name, zip the thing and upload... that should work
  13. ... says the man who just closed yet another thread on EB! :-| :-P
  14. i think it most of all has to do with the fact that most sites are in the hands of AFOLS. Current AFOLS branched out when they were young, they had a choice between official castle, pirate and space sets. all those themes were far more attractive for young boys than town... many years later, when they decided to set up a website, they went back to their old themes... Sure, lots of young people buy city sets today, and city is popular in general, but the fans are usually too young, not mature enough to set up and maintain communities and sites. I also think town lacks cohesion to attract enough people to form a seperate community
  15. Sure, people react a bit more aggressive some times, but usually that's in extremely weird topics, when some one, who's completely unknown in the lego community, starts a topic about the end of the world, ufo abductions,... topics, thank god, we never get here... :-)
  16. may i suggest that the one-day eventees exchange telephone numbers with the event organisors? just give jp or *yoda* a call when you arrive at the parc, and we'll be able to meet each other at a specific spot in the parc...
  17. i once said that the large part at the bow of the 4+ ship would be great for any minifig ship. Nope, I still don't have this set, however, some one else on Belug pointed out a moc of his that beautifully illustrates my point: i didn't know we had this piece in brown as well, but it most definitely improves the over all look. I like this diorama as well, even though he should have added a mast...
  18. It seems to me that once again an easy access to handguns caused a massacre at a school... g... you do wonder what kind of society allows a South Korean undergraduate to get himself a gun... :-| Sure, this guy may have had problems for whatever reason, but shooting people is hardly an option to solve them...
  19. well it's kinda weird... it seems they sold very well in the first year but seriously fell back in the second year. it seems the viking line was a hype at first, but it faded pretty fast, so i'm guessing that a large majority of the viking fans bought their sets rather early, pushing the sales, but the fanbase was too small to assure a long term success... so sales declined in a BIG way...
  20. that may be so but we're not going to discuss that in this topic... ;-)
  21. loool that was exactly what i was thinking!! X-D a longboat for 30
  22. can't wait either... hoping for a great event and brilliant pab and very curious to see these extras. i've been interrogating yoda about them but he hasn't told me much.... *sing* yet.... >:-)
